Xander is a beastly unit for a Horse Emblem team. Might not be too crazy on his own but it's insane they gave a unit that good as a freebie.

Seems a bit worse than Eldigan though. Eldigan comes with Fury 3 already, and a 16 Mt killer weapon to abuse Bonfire with, and still isn't something totally essential.

Xander's distant counter won't help so much unless he's one-shotting mages, since he without a doubt's getting doubled and his poor Res means he'll die before even a Quick Riposte goes off most cases.

So I have a bunch more orbs and started a multisummon on the Ryoma banner. The only character I needed from it was Azura, so I was only going to pull on blue orbs. There was only one blue orb in this batch, and I just got Ryoma so my 5* base chance was as low as it could get... and that one blue orb was Azura! I can't believe the luck

the awards for the month under may (2) are stupid. it's one thing to ask to repeatedly go through the stratum, it's another to ask that we do the highest level one at least 60 times. infantry, flyer, cav, armored, each with no deaths... what.

infantry, flyer, and cav i can technically do like that about 70% of the time. armored i'm not even going to try, even though i've got 3 ready for that level and another on his way, none of them are Effie or Hector so fuck that. but even with that, 45 times perfectly executed. for an award that's just a single orb. what nonsense is this.

The odds of pulling Hector is higher than Ike. Higher focus rate plus there are less green characters in the pool. On the other hand, I think reds are generally more useful for skill inheritance.

The difference is in this one in absence of being screwed over you generally get what you want if your drawing strategy is sound (gotta hoard and mash the color of the unit you want when it's featured to run the rate up) whereas most gacha games you get screwed by default.

Granted I've been pretty lucky so I think I may have a slightly skewed perception on how fair it is-- but the odds are definitely a lot better vs say Exvius or Record Keeper.

As of right now my acrive streak is 73 units without a 5*.

I knew it was bad but didn't realize that bad until I just counted

Oh and what makes it hard to take isn't the lack of 5*s. It's the pull bonus not carrying over to new banners. Thats multiple banners of dropping lots of orbs and still being at the same 3% as everyone else despite not getting a 5*, that's the part that sucks

Yeah I don't get the pull bonus not carrying over-- weird and annoying mechanic imo. To play around that I've just been trying to be prepared to drop 200 orbs minimum any time I go for a banner unit, but I realize even that isn't entirely foolproof-- although all things considered the odds of getting any 5* is over 96% with that many orbs (just using the base rates not getting in per color distribution which only helps if you're limiting per color) even assuming the minimum of 1 draw per batch, and a lot of those will be the focus so it's good enough for me. Way more fair than Exvius's base rates.

the odds are not really better than Record Keeper. as a general rule, it's about 3% chance to get a unit you want from that particular color and about a 75% chance that color even shows up. on average, every 4 summoning sessions will have one with none of your color, and the other 3 having 5 total. that's 28 orbs spent for five 3% chances at the unit you want. 186.6~ orbs spent per character on average.

in record keeper, every 50 mythril is a 1/14 chance plus ten 1% chances. 291.6~ mythril per particular item on average, but you get way more other stuff along the way and the game hands out more mythril than FEH gives out orbs.

I'm not so sure that's the case actually. I feel like it's not and your perception is skewed because RK recently gave like 150 free mythril.

There being less things to want is a big point in this game's favor in that regard as well. If you want to use a character in Record Keeper you're going to want several items per character for them to feel strong. This game if you want the character you only need one copy.

FFRK is better as you at least get a guaranteed 5* every 50 Mythril (so 40-50 Orbs) and it's like a 12-13% chance per pull of a 5* instead of the 6-12% or so in Fire Emblem. Plus Mythril is far more abundant and RK has the $1 pulls

But in Fire Emblems favor, it's a far newer game and FFRK was pretty shitty on draw rates when it was new too

Like just going by dailies this game typically has 2 free orbs a day, then 1/7 days giving a login bonus orb on top of that.

So you're getting 2 1/7 orbs just by logging in every day to Record Keeper's 1 3/10 (mythril daily).

Then every event, which occurs bi-weekly, seems to give 9 orbs, to Record Keeper's weekly events giving 10 Mythril, which is slightly in RK's favor. And of course we're soon getting an arena overhaul which will give orbs, along with quests, which should cancel out Record Keeper's edge of having more events and dungeon updates for the most part.

When you consider that orbs have an effective value of 1.5 Mythril I think it still favors Fire Emblem even ignoring the fact there is less cost to getting characters you want in this one to a viable level due to a lack of a gacha based powercreep as of yet. This of course can change but I like that for now I don't have to draw another Selena every 4 months to keep Selena usable on my team.

orbs only have an effective value of 1.5 mythril if you only want a single item/character on a banner. in terms of quantity of 5*, orbs are like 1/3 the value of mythril.

Well if you wanna open that can of worms it gets more complicated-- mostly because there are 3* and 4* in this game that aren't actually dud draws due to skill inheritance, merging, and usable characters having base 3* or 4*, whereas in Record Keeper aside from a select few 4*s you might want for record synergy (this number decreasing more and more as you get more items) all the non 5* draws are garbage.

well yeah. the fact that you can create your own 5* in FEH is nice, too. it takes virtually no luck to get and max out a 3* character unless you want to give them stuff like Bunny Luncia's atk/spd+4 or Ike's double-special-charging.

either way, we can agree that FEH gacha is definitely better than FFRK's gacha was for well over a year to start out. though imo FFRK as a game was way more fun so it didn't matter as much. it's only the past few months or so that it's started to get a bit dull (still no worse than FEH).

Record Keeper definitely beats FEH in certain respects. I've all but quit at this point but had way more fun with that game for over a year than I've had with this game thus far. But it's mostly due to the lack of content in this game rather than potential. And because the ability to grow your characters seems to cap out even quicker in this game than it does in RK (lack of growth and to a lesser extent gacha frustration was the main reason I quit there).

I still think this game would be pretty great if we just got a ton more Grand Hero Battles with higher difficulties-- just actual difficult content in general. Like the Grand Hero Battles I had issues with that weren't just stat checks vs a good Ultimate Boss in Record Keeper provided me with about as much entertainment-- but you get a ton more Ultimate Bosses in Record Keeper-- over 4x as many (at least 2 per event-- may have changed at this point, and double the amount of events), so yeah.

In any case I just don't think Gacha fairness is one of things Record Keeper is better with by any stretch is all I was getting at. This game has a pretty reasonable Gacha all things considered, but people having issues even then just goes to show that even reasonable Gachas can screw you.

I still can't believe I didn't know there was maintenance yesterday, decided to stay up and wait for it to complete and see if the little orbs I had could work some magic, got no green orbs so I pulled on blue and backed out, then decided "fuck it, let's see what $12 will get me" and got those magical pulls. I made the right call to pull on that banner with its increased rates, but am probably not going to spend anymore money on a mobile game because the chances of something like that happening is so miniscule.

i've got a pretty crazy blue team for a lack of Effie. Cordelia that's +SPD and 5*, Nowi that's +SPD and 4* waiting for me to get everything else set up, now a 5* Linde that's +ATK. will probably throw Fury 3 on her from one of the 4 Hinata i got. hell, for horse emblem Ursula's amazing too.

somehow green has my worst units or those a lot more specialized. blue? i'm good for physical, dragon, and mage. fae is sadly the worst dragon and i want to like her but... so much can ruin her. nino is nino and good, though i've a 5* Tharja so uh... she ain't that good. Cherche is being raised for flyer emblem, though Brave Axe+ is expensive.

...horse emblem takes priority for brave axe+ users though, in the form of Frederick. after all, it also gives Cecilia.

i have more blue 5*s than anything now. +spd Linde and Hinoka, Nowi and Abel basically neutral (some combo of def/res/HP), two Ninians (but those are -atk and -spd <_<). also don't have Effie, but that's fine, she's like the only character in this i legit hate.
