whoo, beat the navarre mission in time.
solution was very simple:

teach Subaki Drag Back from a spare 3* Donnel and use a good archer (Klein). map turned real simple real quick. Donnel is the MVP for that map technically but i like having Subaki instead since he's tankier and doesn't care about terrain. for a no-archer map, it's perfect.

I decided to spend a lot more orbs cause I wanted Azura and another Takumi/Hector so I could give someone else the counters and keep Takumi/Hector. Highlights

5* Hector (-ATK +RES kinda garbage but he's just gonna get fused anyway)
5* Takumi (-ATK +DEF but other nature was good and he's just getting fused)
5* Maria
5* Julia
Azura (+ATK -SPD unfortunately)
Selena with my favored nature of +ATK -RES
Setsuna with my favored nature of +SPD -HP
Matthew with +DEF -SPD which may serve my purposes but think I want -ATK

Down to 40 orbs but worth I think

10th stratum with all armor units 15 times for 1 orb is so much worse than those. cav and pegasus ones are worse, too.

On another note, I'm not sure which MRobin to use as my main. Below are the natures I can pick from.

Neutral
+HP/-Spd
+Def/-Res
+Def/-HP
+Spd/-Def

It's pretty sad that out of all my Robin's, none of them has a +Atk nature. I already made my neutral Robin 5* before I got a whole bunch more dupes and he's almost Lv 40, but if you guys think he's better off with another nature, I'll sacrifice him for the greater good.

I don't find that Wings of Mercy is active often enough for my team to make it worthwhile. And I fed my only Wings of Mercy 3 to Azura. I gave him Green Tomebreaker instead. Maybe Vantage too when I get the SP.

I would think that the +Spd Robin is the best, but I'm not sure if I'd put 20k feathers into it.


And yes, brave lance is really good on Effie

What I'm curious about is what the difference between a Lv 40+1 5* and a Lv 40+5 4* is. If you have a lot of dupes, are you better off making a super 4*?

A 40+5-6 (a bit over +2 to all stats-- +5 is +2 to each but I think rarity increase increases all by 2-3.) at rarity 4* is about equal to a 40 rarity 5*

So it could be better on characters who don't have great 5* abilities that you intend to use skill inheritance on.

5* units roughly have 2 more stat points in each stat at Lv40. So a 4* Lv40+5 has roughly the same stats as a 5* Lv40+0. However, 5* units have access to 5* weapons. You would need to sacrifice another 5* unit to pass down their 5* weapon to a 4* unit. This isn't too bad if you need to steal another unit's 5* weapon anyways. Unique weapons can not be passed down to 4* units so no 4* Eirika with Sieglinde.

That's my suggestion because I question if there is that much more value in a + Spd - Def than a neutral version. If you'd like a + Atk one, perhaps it is worth waiting a bit on that.

The difference between a level 40 5* and 4* is roughly 2 stat points across the board. A 40+5 4* will be about equivalent to a 40 5*. This is not including the 5* weapons which tend to be more significant improvements over the 4* counterparts. If you ever decide to promote the 4* to 5*, all the +1 bonuses will be lost. I'm not sure how a 5* will compare to a merged 4* for arena scoring purposes.

Well, that Xander map was maybe the only one I can remember doing in a single try. Definitely not balanced around Draw Back or having good mages.

Still hoping I can get something out of this hero-fest, but it's given me nothing so far.

The Xander map was pretty easy since I have a lot of blue units. I'll need to think about how to beat it with just 3 units for the inevitable rematch, though.

I have never been able to beat any of these grand battles on lunatic, and this Xander one is no exception. At least it doesn't take that many feathers to go from 3 to 4*.

Step 1: get a not blue mage to one shot the red unit on the right. She should be just out of reach of the blue unit. Tharja is ideal here if you got her but others should work with boosted stats.

Step 2: have a blue unit ready to melee the main enemy. Kill the enemy blue with your ranged units/dance them after the kill so the blue is blocking their path. Sully works fine, as does Subaki yet again.

At that point it's easy. But the first is the most important step.
If you can't get the kill, dance + drag back the dancer so she doesn't die.

These GHB maps feel like they're getting easier and easier, but that's probably only because we have larger skill inherited lineups now.

hmm, that's not what i did at all. i killed the lance dude with Linde, then drag back + dance to get everyone out of the way. then Linde killed Xander, Ninian danced Eirika over to kill the green mage. then Eirika just had to tank a hit from the sword and healer and it was easy cleanup.

Yeah, I'd have played around with dance and movement skills if I had to, but was unnecessary. I used a team of Azura, Eirika, Reinhardt, and Tharja. I buffed Tharja and took out the sword + mage immediately. The next turn, I was able to kill everything else. Reinhardt one rounds Xander. I think Eirika got the cleric and I danced to finish the lancer. Nino could also perform Tharja's role here - she has no problem with the sword and mage either.

Yeah, I didn't even put much thought into this, since I have a Lilina with Swordbreaker. I had a mini-heart attack when I saw Xander had a Distant Counter, so I couldn't one-shot him with her as well, but Linde did it just fine instead.

oh, it didn't even occur to me you could make an attack and be protected from Xander without moving out of the way. yeah, just going in and attacking the sword dude, then kill green mage on the counter. Nino wouldn't have worked for me since she's only 4*, but i think even my 4* -atk Tharja could have done it. though only stacking all the buffs and i'd have to dance her to get in range. eh, i'd rather have the SP on Eirika and Linde anyway.

I guess I do have tharja now, but trying to speed up her leveling just to get a 4* Xander seems like a lot of time for little payoff. I could probably raise 3* Xander to 5* quicker than all that.

Boosting Tharja is its own reward. She's a monster in her own right.

Well yeah, I raised to 5* for a reason. But I'm not in a huge rush to max her out for the time being, especially since my main team right now is Hector / Nowi / Reinhardt / Ryoma.

If you don't have an Eirika or Ephraim to work with, it won't be quite as good. Tharja and Eirika have been the cornerstone of my arena team for a while. I have 5 star Marth, Ike, Tiki, Seliph, and Karel that miss the cut because that combination is so powerful.

It should work just fine then although you're team is already pretty strong. Tharja or Reinhardt with Breath of life is probably pretty good to get Hector/Nowi in quick riposte territory
