4 Robot Master themes will fall in the next block of 10 rankings.

Care to make any guesses @The_Utility_Man

Tough to call really. While all but 1 of the RM theme's gone out so far are nothing special, the fact that you got rid of a top tier one with Slash Man makes me completely unsure what to expect. That and the fact that some of my other bottom tier one's aren't out yet. So I can say what I feel should be the ones going out next, but there's no way to make any kind of accurate guess.

Since you aren't including Mega Man and Bass, and I'm assuming Centaur Man isn't about to be removed yet...here's what I'd eliminate next...

Clown Man
Sword Man
Astro Man
Aqua Man
Star Man


As you can tell, I think Mega Man 8 has one of the weakest soundtracks of the original series. Not to say all of it's themes are bad, but overall it's pretty low tier.

{This is actually a really good fit for a "Clown" Man theme but overall something about it just isn't all that appealing to me. Maybe because it's uncharacteristic for a Mega Man theme or I just don't care for MM8 that much. This one also sounds like a tune from one of the other Disney games Capcom has produced.}

It does sound like a carnival type theme, so I give it credit for that. Clown Man doesn't have the most interesting design, but it does stand out... I also have to give him credit for the Thunder Claw weapon; I like that it's versatile, able to be used as a weapon or allowing you to swing from certain places. I think the series could have used more Weapons with multiple effects like that.

Overall i'd say Mega Man 6 is in the lower half of the original 10 as far as soundtracks go. Although, seeing as I like a good 90% of the themes in the original series that's not an insult to it at all.

Good song. Too short, but the intro cutscene it's used for is very short and there wouldn't have been a point to making the song longer than the scene. I think I heard the webtoon Bonus Stage had some songs that were longer than the scenes they were used at, where you could pause the animation and hear extended versions of some songs as they'd continue playing? I dunno, I never tried it. Bonus Stage was almost over by the time I started watching anyway.

Normally I'd use this as an excuse to keep talking about Bonus Stage, but I haven't seen it in years. You can try looking it up if you're bored enough (you aren't. Who would be bored enough to go watch episodes of a long cancelled webtoon just because someone mentioned it without context in an unrelated write-up. Not you! Though if you're reading this at all, you probably have severe time management problems, so it probably wouldn't be any more a waste of your time than this is. Or maybe it is? I dunno. Only saw half the episodes and that was years ago. I think it got good at some point? Though maybe it's just good in comparison to other webtoons from 2005. What else was there to watch, if indeed you were going to watch an animated web series in that year?

Probably Red VS Blue, I think that was around back then, wasn't it? I never saw an episode, but I feel like I've been avoiding it for 12 years now. I assume that was a webtoon, I'm not actually sure what it is, as I've been quite good at avoiding it. It is hypothetically possible Red VS Blue is a series of interpretive dances set to the soundtrack of Beetlejuice, but I'm sure I would have paid more attention if it were something that strange. Seriously though, it's just some Halo thing, right? I think Johnbobb mentioned it in some Mercs topic somewhere... oh don't answer that, if I learn what it is now, then it'll lose all its mystique...

...oh bother. I seem to be trapped in a parenthetical statement loop. I'm not sure how this all started or how it's going to end. Kinda like what happened to LARP Trek that one...no, no, I'm not getting into that. If you are a fan of Star Trek, you should look that comic up though! It's a short lived comic about the cast of The Next Generation roleplaying the stories of Deep Space Nine. Great series, at least if you're the type of person to be interested in such things. I can fully suggest reading it, unlike Bonus Stage which I can't remember enough about to advise you one way or the other. I think Bonus Stage started as a webcomic, though I never read it... the toon lasted much longer...

So about this Intro, there's not a lot to it. Proto Man built an evil army of robots, an evil fortress, and kidnapped Dr. Light. If you're crazy enough to think Proto Man would do any of those things, then you are beyond help.

Gyro Man is pathetic and a sign of how far Wily had fallen since the second game. Gyro Man was originally supposed to have a flying device, but Wily ran out of money and just stuck a propeller on him to cut costs.

He was ordered to take over a hanging garden and collect admission fees, but Gyro Man sucked and attendance dropped. This is canon. He failed at running a garden to raise money for a bankrupt Dr. Wily.

Allegedly he likes gyro sandwiches. I wasn't aware the Robot Masters could eat, but why let biology get in the way of a "these two words are spelled the same way" pun?

Sounds like an appropriate track for this guy. Makes me think of exploring old tombs, the stage is set in an old temple... yeah, it works. Not an interesting song and it's kinda putting to me to sleep, but it works.

Sword Man has an interesting design. His top and bottom halves can separate and act independently, and he has a good variety of attacks. He also gives the best melee weapon in the classic series, not that that's a hard accomplishment. Allegedly Dr. Wily stole his sword from a museum and built Sword Man just to get some use out of it. The sword is so gigantic that Sword Man had to be outfitted with an anti-gravity unit just to be able to wield it... which raises questions about who built the sword in the first place and why they wanted it to be so big? Not that the game cares to answer them.

It's a co-op ranking and you are attempting to single out one of us against the other in appearance (since wording is often everything in an opinion).

So now you're saying it's trolling to like one list over another? Everyone has preferences, there's always going to be times where you prefer 1 thing over another. In this case, her list "so far" is closer to how I would have ranked things than yours is. This isn't pitting you against each other, again, there are always going to be preferences. You ask anyone on this board and they're going to prefer 1 list over another. Tons of people constantly do "top lists" on this board and there's always some people that like them and some that don't, but if it bothers you so much when someone doesn't prefer your rankings then you shouldn't be doing them.

Seriously though, if you did a "My favorite crayons" list and I said it was bad would you get upset about that too? I honestly think you're making way too big of a deal about this. Like honestly, WHO CARES if I like her list better? This isn't taking a stab at you, this isn't insulting you, this is nothing personal against you. It's one thing when you discuss the actual placements but you took it further to separate one set of input from the other in your other comments.

Yes we both have our lists but the only ranking that matters is the combined score. Criticize those placements instead of zeroing out one list over the other. I only offered the separate list postings so that folks could see what each of us did individually overall. It wasn't really what I expected anyone to quibble about or even use as an opportunity to dole out individual criticism.

And I'd be just as annoyed if you stated that you thought my list was better than hers repeatedly btw. It makes no difference.

The point is this is a co-op ranking. Please treat it like one. It'd be a totally different story if I had done my own topic and she did hers but we didn't. The combined scores are what you should be criticizing. That's all I was trying to convey here.

After the awesomeness that is Mega Man III I waited feverishly for the next game to come out and this sound was glorious the day I had tossed my brand new copy of Mega Man 4 (that I had paid for by myself!) in to play it. It's too short imo but really delivers a strong message that the peace that once was since Dr. Wily's defeat in MM3 is no more. I know I compare a lot of tunes to other NES games but this one really makes me think of Little Nemo Dream Master yet again.}

Yeah I had a hard time blocking out the nostalgia for this one since it was one of the few games as a kid that I purchased on my own.

Just wait till we start dropping the tunes in my Top 50.lol

It got pretty hard for me to sort tunes when I got that far since so many were nostalgic for me.
