The Guardian Legend
That's some vastly inconsistent difficulty. It eventually turns into a difficulty curve I guess. Memoria (PC) is done. Oh my god, I'm in tears. I finished Chains of Satinav last year and I've been meaning to finish the duology. Definitely recommend to anyone who loves both high and low fantasy adventure games. Playing the first is not necessary but highly recommended.

I... wanted to like it, but so many parts of this game were so poorly designed. Bosses had giant AOE attacks that could one-hit kill anyone caught within them. Multiple levels required tedious box stacking. This just wasn't a very good SPRG. Simoun posted... Memoria (PC) is done. Oh my god, I'm in tears. Ys II (PC)

RE7 (PS4) is done. Love it. Although...I got a few critiques about it that just stand out:
2) I was about to applaud the game for actually not ending the game in a lab. Why couldn't it have just been a testing ground (bombed from afar) or an isolated incident. What was the reason for having there to be something technologically modern by the end which killed the backwater-esque environment so hard. I mean, the Ship already explained that all this was incidental and they were just passing through. But no, the source of the virus is actually IN the backwater setting. It's almost as if all the last minute infodump is some kind of reward for all the shit you've been through. There were more subtle ways to pull this off such as that article you read midway that explains the events take place 18 years after raccoon city. It was missable I might add. 3) Lucas. I hate everything about him. The game sets him up to be some kind of genius but we don't actually see what that genius is all about. I mean the best we got is him trying to follow in Jigsaw's footsteps and the bold arrogance of not falling for an underaged superweapon's wiles. The only saving grace here is that he didn't even have a boss fight, because that would have been pathetic at best. I'm not even mad he ran away by the end. Lucas was also a better fit as the first encounter instead of the 3rd. Jack was freakin' menacing. Marguerite was creepy. And then we have Lucas who...traps you with puzzles. Wrong genre, much? 4) The Mind Meld Scene. There was a scene where good!Jack in psychic projection explains that he was just being controlled. Why was that necessary? You already knew from the getgo that Eveline was evil. If that scene was taken out, and then we get that blurb in the end where Ethan mentions that the Baker family were victims too then the moral ambiguity would have been much more powerful. We would have debates about it as opposed to just being spoonfed that nope, they were just victims. And they have consciences. Geez. All in all, I'm not disappointed that it was short. I kinda hated the early boss fights but it wasn't as annoying. I loved the throwback to the initial trilogy and I was actually scared through most of it. I just hope they don't continue making the trend of First Person RE games but VR has to sell somehow... --- It's not so cliche anymore when it's happening to you. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Anna's Quest (PC) is done. If anyone's noticed yes, I'm systematically taking on every Daedalic Entertainment adventure game in the list. I already finished 2 Deponia Games, Chains of Satinav, and The Whispered World last year.
Anna's Quest was a surprise. First time I've seen the most adorable protagonist ever and innocence to match. But being a Daedalic game I thought to myself "no there has to be more to this. this is going to end well." Sure enough, the twist came in the finale and it was all too bittersweet once more. These guys really know how to subvert expectations in gaming. Also underestimated the surprisingly mellow art style, compared to some of Daedalic's other titles. Next is probably Dead Synchronicity. Oh yeah, Spec Ops is one of my top 10 games of all time, it was a replay! Fantastic narrative, the psychological elements are superb, the gameplay is tough enough to feel like a survival endurance every time. Just a beautiful game.
