Ed, ""DoDonPachi DaiFukkatsu" and "DoDonPachi DaiFukkatsu Black Label" are two different versions of the same game. However, they have completely different soundtracks.

Yeah converting midis is kind of a pain. Especially because you need to choose a soundfont that works good which each one. I think I used to have a program that would help with this, but I don't remember what it was called.

In fact, the only way to get a truly "accurate" recording is to use the same soundfont as the person who wrote it, which can be a pain, if possible at all.

Also, for grabbing URLs from videos in YouTube, the easiest way is to click the "Share" button below the video, then click the "Options" link and check the "HD link" and (optionally) "long link" options. After that, click in the text box with the link and copy it.

I hate Youtube's extra URL garbage so much.

I think I should write a simple detection algorithm for that that auto-removes all non-relevant parameters for them, because yeah they are really annoying.

VGMusic of the Day 681: Idinaloq - Stage 3


I somehow got wind of this music, even though I've never been able to get this game to run properly. The Last Boss 1 music is also good, but I think Stage 3 is my favorite track. The music originally came as MIDI files, but an MP3 version has been made from it for this video. Anyway, enjoy!

Also, it seems like YouTube's sh itty playlist editor is working now, so I've tidied up playlist 4. If anyone needs to edit the playlist, make sure to hit the save button in the top-right of the page. I may have missed it last time I tried to use the damn thing.

Games with old MIDI music annoy me because I don't have the patience to convert them to anything else. I'm sure many others feel the same way, so a lot of them are really underrepresented these days.

Day 685 held me up for a while because I found two translations for the song titles and I had to decide which was more accepted. Then finding some images was tough because the game was released on 5 different systems and I wanted to get the right one. Then I wasted a ton of time on the composer since the music was originally composed for the arcade version, and maybe the Genesis version was arranged by someone else, but I couldn't tell because everyone used super-cryptic names in credits then. I eventually gave up figuring out who "SZK" was supposed to be because I found a post from the user CHz on Gamingforce admitting defeat on solving this mystery (and if he can't find it there's no chance I will).

That's a really cool song. I can't think of many older songs that can justify a 5+ minute length but this one definitely can.

Oh also for Kaleb, re the comment on the Phoenix Wright song. I added the japanese subtitle to the tags if that's what you were talking about, as it was indeed the DS version. If you meant the alternate song title I posted, both the GBA and DS versions of the soundtracks both call the track "Gyakuten Saiban - Trial" without adding in the game's subtitle to the track title. I opted to shorten the song name (along with many others, as it's the more common name) to just "Trial" as having the game name followed by the game name in the song title again is redundant.
