(Evil) VGMusic of the Day 660: Wild Arms 4 - Manifestation From Hell


I'm kicking off Evil music theme week! During this week, we'll post something that either sounds evil (e.g. Silent Hill), has something evil in the game/track title (e.g. Hell, Evil, Demon), or is just generally horror themed. Expect to hear some spine-tingling compositions, capped off with whatever Ed has in store for us at the end.

This track is from Wild Arms 4, which is one of my favorite game music albums. I've never played the game, but it looks pretty cool and I love the music, so I'll have to get around to it one of these days.

On the theme weeks I've tried to hold off on claiming stuff just in case someone can't find anything else, but yes, that is a good advantage to the website.

Oh look here is day 664 of the evil theme week. This place sounds like a truly evil location.

Website bug report:
If I have a song title in quotes, it saves and displays fine, but when reading the data back to fill in the editable textboxes, it deletes everything starting from the first quote.

For example:
That Battle Was Just "To Keep That Future Alive" (Stage 5)
becomes
That Battle Was Just

P.S. Oh, and guys, check the website for an upcoming theme week proposal.

Also, feature request:

Since people (mostly me) stick in future tracks, sometimes it's hard to keep track of the current day's track. Is it possible to highlight the row of the current day and/or the previous day so it's easier to see? (Previous day might be good since sometimes the song isn't put up there until later that day.)

Eh, not really feeling that suggestion too much. I know it's over a hundred days away, but it seems a bit too similar to what we're doing now. I like mixing up the theme weeks - so far we've had theme weeks pertaining to quality (bad), aspects of the song (vocals), titles (love), and now tone (evil), so it might be good to not do two "tones" in a row. That's just my thoughts though. Other people can weigh in.

Obviously I have no idea what this proposal was since I'm not one of the priveleged few, but if you've had quality, aspects, titles, and tone, maybe next you want to go for game function? I.e., boss music, town music, ending/credits music, map/travelling music...something to that effect. Obviously a lot of "functions" apply primarily to RPGs, but it would be a direction I don't believe you've taken a theme week yet. And it's also, imho, the most obvious one.

Considering it's the music that's playing on the title screen whenever you're getting some kind of server error while trying to play the game by yourself, yes, I'd say that song is VERY evil.

And of course, Leah becomes the host for the new Diablo, so that makes a track with her name evil by extension.

Independence Day happens every year, but we only get one shot at day #666, so we have to make it count!

Oh, is THAT what inspired evil week? Anyway, patriotic week is conceivable. Just have to play songs from games that represent U.S. operatives of some kind. Metal Gear, Rainbow Six, Duke Nukem Forever...yeah, it does sound pretty crappy.

I don't know about you guys, but I would very much enjoy a week of Tom Clancy music.
