Cena was cocky and arrogant during the whole buildup. The Rock clearly trained hard for this match and was 100% focused on beating Cena. Besides, I believe KANE said that if Cena didn't embrace the hate he was going to lose. He didn't, and he lost. Plus, the odds were in Cena's favor, and Cena himself believed that, and we all know what happens when the odds favor Cena.

As for Sheamus/Bryan, there is a way to make their feud a lot more interesting going into Extreme Rules. The things that everyone was giving DB **** for during his reign in terms of retaining his title, Sheamus kinda did the exact same thing. He took advantage of a distracted DB like a coward instead of decisively beating him like a man. I expect Bryan to bring this up.

Sheamus has brought shame to The Man Championship.

He's a face, so he's allowed to do that kind of thing.

If Daniel Bryan does complain about it, everyone except Michael Cole will just label him as a whiner.

Bryan will mention it once and then it will be forgotten by everyone because anyone who expects "he was distracted" to be used to make a heel look less like trash is crazy. WWE booking doesn't do that, it goes the "this guy has never shown he's a threat, buy the PPV because you need to see if the hero can actually beat the guy he's way better than!" route.

ANX returned and they had a 2-match series at Showdown in the Sun, with ANX winning on Day One and the Bucks winning on Day Two.

Whoa, you know what's funny, too?

Kane was right about needing to Embrace the Hate not just for Cena, but Rock, too. Remember how Rock said he just flat out doesn't like Cena on a personal level? Whereas, and I recall on twitter, Cena says he takes none of this stuff personal? And isn't Cena's twitter pretty in-character for him?

God dammit, Kane IS always right! This is either the ultimate example of WWE Creative Fridge Brilliance/Logic or we just stumbled onto something completely unintentional that made things way more awesome.

I can totally give Kane credit for it, but they have to give some sort of indication it was intentional. I mean, it would work out really well if Kane or Cena mentioned the hate embracement or lack thereof.

Maybe Kane beat Orton last night to relaunch into a Cena feud where he actually makes Cena embrace the hate instead of just antagonizing Ryder all day.

But he's ALWAYS like this and he still wins so I don't buy that explanation. He comes out, gets WWE in trouble with GLAAD, then talks about how THIS IS HIS LIFE, and he does this EVERY TIME. And yet he's never cost himself a match just so he could make a joke before. His motto is "Hustle Loyalty Respect", not "Carelessness Sarcasm Mockery", and yet he forgets that when it's time to lose.

Cena even flat-out said "I don't respect The Rock" and spent weeks trying to pry "the REAL Rock" out of Dwayne Johnson because for him to feel like he actually accomplished something, he had to beat peak Rock and not some pale imitation.

By the time Cena decided to go for the People's Elbow, he totally felt like he had been largely dominating the match and that this was not peak Rock and felt like he was just gonna own this idiot for not even caring enough to "show up" for this match by beating him with his own move.

Kayfabe-wise, it's tough. He's got some impressive wins at WM, but also some losses, too. Keep in mind he lost to HHH at WM and Undertaker has beaten him 3 times, now.

Depends on how much value you put into Taker's undefeated streak (which has some decent victories) vs. Rock's individual opponents (where he has some big wins but some key losses).

Eh tainted losses still count when you have enough of them. Rocck's overall losing record at WM (I believe) kinda puts him out of the running with that.

Also if you're going to get down on tainted losses he's got a tainted win over Cena. Can't have it both ways.

Last few years...last night was whatever you want it to be taint wise. Shawn added an x-factor, and you couldn't predict what would happen without him in there.

Last year was taintless, 25 and 26 vs. Shawn were taintless. 24 had brief interference from Hawkins and Ryder, right? But they provided only a brief distraction. 23 was clean vs. Batista, methinks. 22 vs. Henry was clean, 21 vs. Orton had Bob Orton trying to screw Taker and Taker battled both of them off, 20 was clean over Kane, XIX was unclean but it was meant to be a tag match, right? Can't remember further back than that.
