Welcome to another round of the Best OST Contest, where we decide the best game soundtrack by voting on the songs in it.
Condensed rules and guidelines: * You must listen to both songs in the match. Use the provided links. * You must vote on the songs in the match. Not the game's overall music. Not how much you like the game itself. ***VOTE ON THE SONGS*** * To help enforce rule 2, All votes must be given for the song title, not the game or the seed number. No exceptions. * Normal contest rules apply about alts, rallying, multi-voting, etc. * No mid-thread tallies, please. * Matches run 24 hours from when they start.
Underwater Frigate - Epitaph is boring, and Underwater Frigate isn't anything special but I do carry some bias towards it, it really is an immersive song, at least.
All-round great day, but that might just be my tendencies to be overly-appreciative of crap when I'm tired talking.
World Revolution Probably a lot of bias here, but this is the single best battle theme from one of my favourite OSTs imo (it edges out Magus just slightly, as well as 2nd boss theme), and they aren't exactly complete pushovers. Writhe In Pain on the other hand, like many guilty gear tracks, just doesn't do as much as I want it to. In that sense, it reminds me of a particular song quite a but from the next match, actually.
Epitaph Both are so chill. I could listen to either of these for a whole day straight quite comfortably. Epitath is a perfect theme for what it does. Not to mention the fact that it is an unintentionally solid bridge between two of my other personal favourite vg soundtracks (CT and Last Ranker0. Frigate on the other hand, reminds like Writhe in Pain; awesome sounding, but it does just a little bit less than I would hope it to :\
WR is the slightly less boring song, dunno why people like guilty gear so much, everything I've heard from it from these contests has been very mediocre
second match is much closer but I love the ambient chill of underwater frigate too much, I feel like it really captures the essence of this majestic dying world. would vote for epitaph over many other songs including the two from the other match
The first match is great. World Revolution is a boss battle theme, so it had to sound awesome, and it does sound awesome, having a feel of impending doom while bravely fighting against a great evil. It has some weird mixes thrown into it, but it's a very good theme nonetheless. Writhe in Pain uses a strange mix of a fast-paced dulcimer and a great rock song. I don't like how that dulcimer was played, but I still apreciate the effort.
The second match is... ugh. It's not horrible, but it's very dull. Epitaph sounds too weird to be a "sad theme" or whatever it is trying to portray. Underwater Frigate is more Metroid Prime dullness, only this time featuring an aquatic theme!
First match is easy. ...So is the second match, really. Epitaph is more or less "just there" and while I guess you could say the same for Underwater Frigate, it does it a lot better IMO.

Imbrium got off to a slow start, letting Hills of Radiant Wind take the four votes. From there, it battled back, and was either tied or ahead by one vote most of the day. In the evening, Hills pushed back, and in the morning opened up the lead to those same four votes the match started with. NieR advances, 22-18.
Spark Man, OTOH, got off to a very good start. After taking the first four, it surrendered the next four to the opposition. The two exchanged votes for a bit, but after 10-10, the stalemate was broken as it was all Endless Nine from there. Umineko advances 25-15.
Writhe in Pain -- for the record, not a fan of that picture. Epitaph -- more or less by default.

Oh, a big machine with flashy lights. A big machine like that has me written all over it. Well, okay, it doesn't. But give me time... and a crayon --11th Doctor
