Decided to watch 1 episode of Unicorn tonight

Started off pretty awesome and omoninously. Pretty cool seeing normal space suits at the beginning.

Then its right into the action. <3 <3 <3 Marida she's so pretty and awesome.

external image

This fat ass needs to get out of the way. Sooo much information I'd love to read behind him.

The conversation between the head of the Vist foundation and the captain about Newtypes was fascinating.

Artwork is beautiful, and the mechs are pretty cool as well. Nice to see some Jegans again.

I'm having trouble deciding who is good and bad. I mean, I know Banagher and Audrey are obviously the protagonists, but beyond that I don't know who to trust. I'm not even sure Londo Bell can be trusted at this point. Some Sleeves group may or may not be trustable, though they apparently want to revive Zeon, which is never a good thing.

Definitely gonna have to re-watch though. It is some dense viewing.

Whatever Laplace's Box is, it's serious business

I'm glad you caught so much in the first episode! And on the first watch!

That fight between Marida and the Jegans is beautiful. And I this is the best Gundam "launch" ever, that music makes it so damn epic.

Last episode wasnt that bad...
A couple more notes about Unicorn 1:
-Micott looks like Banagher's sister, which is creepy cause she obviously is crushing hard
- I'm in love with Marida.
- At the beginning they mention a place called Laplace. I wonder what its relation to The Box is
-More Marida plz

Just finished Unicorn 2.

Full Frontal was a lot cooler than I thought! I was immediately charmed when I heard his awesome voice (did they get Shuichi Ikeda to play him? He sounds just like Char) Judging by his comments at the end of the scene with him and Banagher, he's not really Char. Just someone filling him for him. The scene with him negotiating was pretty great. Really tense. Shame I had the reveal that Audrey = Mineva spoiled for me by Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3. That said, she DOES look just like Mineva from Z Gundam!

The Nahal Argama has returned! Yay! Is it the same Nahal Argama that was in Double Zeta, or is it just a ship calling itself the Nahel Argama? Hopefully the latter.

The conversation between Riddhe and Mineva was pretty intense. Mineva pointed out he came from a special family. I wonder what the big deal about them is.

That executive from Anaheim Electronics is an ass. In fact, pretty much every character from AE ever has been pretty bad (Nina is the exception). Pretty much AE should go to hell >_>

Gonna have to rewatch this one later on. These episodes are so densely packed and high quality, its like watching a movie.

Best scene was the discussion between Marida and Banagher

SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 3 OF UNICORN

Holy crap at the big reveal surrounding Marida. Judau sure did screw up by not saving Puru. He could have had the best looking girlfriend in the franchise! Marida's backstory is pretty rough and made me sad. Full Frontal can go die for using Marida as bait.

Daguza ended up becoming seriously cool in this episode. I was really upset when he died at the end. Same with Gilboa.

Banagher seems like a fairly powerful newtype. He has managed to sense the thoughts of several people as they died, and he's constantly have newtype flashes. Plus he had a connection moment with Marida

I was thinking of the AEUG last night and had an interesting thought.

Do you guys think there were a lot of Zeon loyalists in the AEUG that were simply using the organization as a way of getting back at the Earth Federation for the OYW? I mean, we know there were at least some former Zeon pilots, namely Quattro, Roberto, and Apolly, though we never really know their motivation for joining. It seems that AEUG HQ was on the moon somewhere. During the OYW the moon was under the control of Zeon.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if a big chunk of the AEUG were Zeon loyalists.

They probably had a fair amount, considering the majority of the AEUG were spacenoids. Zeons didn't have a place they could easily move to, not after the few that retreated to Axis, and I doubt those on Axis with Haman was all that was left of a few million Zeon troops!

That brings up another point. If there were Zeon loyalists in the AEUG, how many of the defected once Axis arrived and the first Neo Zeon war began? The AEUG, despite its name, didn't strike me as particularly anti-Federation as much as it was anti-Titans. Surely Axis would have more comparable goals to Principality Loyalists than the AEUG would have, namely the revival of Zeon.

Probably because by the end of the Gryps conflict, the Federation had all but turned its back on the Titans. And of course the federation pretty much let the AEUG do all the fighting during the first Neo Zeon War. After that, the media probably portrayed the AEUG as ultimately a pro-Federation faction that had been fighting against against a faction that had been damaging the integrity of the Federation.

Just finished watching episode 4. These next six months are going to be a pain in the ass... :(

Pretty interesting episode actually. I now trust Riddhe, though it seems he's now pissed off at Banagher :( Him coming on so strong to Mineva was a little creepy, but I guess he thought it was a good idea.

It was pretty interesting seeing reoccuring places from 0083.

Mineva was excellent in this episode, even though she only had one scene. Her conversation at the dinner with the old man was great.

Killing Gilboa messed up Banagher pretty bad. His trek across the desert with Zinnerman was a highlight for me. Speaking of which, their dynamic is pretty interesting. Their fistfight was intense, and I loved Zinnerman's insubordination in trying to stop Banagher. I guess they felt the aggressiveness of the operation was too much too.

The battles in this series are fantastic, but they make me uncomfortable for some reason. Almost nauseous. Probably because of how brutal they are.

Bright Noa! New voice actor did a great job. If I hadn't have known the old VA died, I would have never guessed they were different people. He was his usual Bright Noa-y self too.

external image

Keep moving along, Riddhe. You're a cool guy, but you'll never be as cool as the man in that picture.

I'm assuming Marida is in the Black Unicorn, judging by the controls Albert was holding. Hopefully she'll be alright :(. I don't want to see her just be a puppet.

I don't want to rate this yet since it's not finished, but if 5 and 6 are as strong as 1-4 have been, this very well could be my favorite UC story.

3 > 1 > 2 > 4 for me. All were great though

Just rewatched 2 and 3 in English. The dub is pretty good. I really like ZInnerman's voice. Marida's is fitting too. Banagher sounds a little too old. Audrey is alright, but sounds a bit too stilted for my tastes. The captain of the Nahel Argama makes me lol because he sounds just like Yugi from Yugioh (because he's the same guy).

I really like Riddhe's english voice! He's very fitting. Just the right amount of enthusiasm and angst.

Full Frontal is a bit of a disappointment to me. He does a decent enough job depicting the character, but I was hoping Michael Kopsa of the 0079 and Char's Counterattack dub would reprise his role.

A couple of things to note about my re-watch. Alberto actually is an alright guy, I think. He's just a huge tool bag of his sister. He is seen a few times actually caring about the crew of the Nahel Argama. I'm hoping there is at least one scene with him and Banagher actually talking as relatives later on. I'm actually kind of sympathetic towards him now (though just a little, he IS an annoying guy). However, if what i think might happen to a certain character actually happens, HEADS WILL ROLL

Speaking of certain characters, Marida cracked me up in episode two. There is this part where Banagher is at Gilboa's house eatting dinner. There is a little girl running around the table. Without ceasing eatting, Marida picks up the the little girl by her foot and hands her to her mother. It's a pretty subtle moment and one I missed the first time, but I laughed. It was cute. And moments of cuteness are kind of rare.

Final note: Takuya is such a dork. He actually recognized the Delta Plus (which by the way has stolen the show for me. Best mobile suit in the OVA so far) as resembling the Hyaku Shiki. I didn't even notice until Granzon pointed it out. And then I was like "oh yeah". Silver Hyaku Shiki with waverider form? Yes plz. I also rather like the ReZELs quite a bit actually. In fact, the ReZEL is pretty much the only Feddie Grunt suit I really like >_>

Broolf strikes again. This guy is the most consistently amazing character on the show. And to think just a few months ago I hated him >_>

SO I was right that Desil was connected to the UE, but damn I didn't think they WERE the UE. I guess that twist last episode wasn't a twist after all!

Let's be honest guys. Flit is ok, but Woolf is easily superior.

The AGE system is already cranking out another upgrade huh? A little silly, since the Titus has barely gotten any screen time. But then again, Titus sucks. I guess the AGE system was like "oops, I sure did mess that one up!"

Desil is a major villain, huh? I suspected a link, but not like this!

Decided to watch F91.

This was a cool movie actually. I rather liked the battle at the beginning of the movie quite a bit, actually. There were some surprisingly brutal moments through out, such as when General Roy and Arthur died.

Seabook was a decent protagonist. He was kind of similar to Judau, I thought. Birgit was pretty cool, and he went out like a champ. Cecily was alright, but wasn't a particularly strong lead.

I started off liking Iron Mask quite a bit, but by the end kind of fizzled out. That said, I was genuinely scared of his mobile armor, and it was pretty freaky when he climbed out of its cockpit and tore Cecily out. Pretty weird stuff. The concept of him was better than the actual execution. A man who was so humiliated by his wife leaving him that he lost his humanity.

As a Gundam story, it's pretty good, but I don't exactly think it meshes well with the rest of the UC storylines. There were certainly themes from the earlier UC shows, namely stuff like Newtypes, people migrating to space so that the earth was polluted, etc. But it seemed so removed from the history and politics of previous stories. I appreciated the fact that there were Jegans in the EF's forces, but this is what, 30 years after CCA? Surely they'd have developed better suits by then. The mechs themselves seem to be actually a downgrade pre-UC 0100 stories. The Gundam F91 doesn't seem like it'd be better than the Zetas or Nu Gundam (or god forbid the Unicorn, but I don't think its fair to judge it against Psycho-Frame mechs. PF is so powerful, even Anaheim Electronics abandoned it because it was so terrifying). The Bio-Computer didn't really seem to add much to the abilities of the suit, I thought. However, the after-image attack the F91 used against Iron Mask was pretty awesome.

Alot of stuff felt unresolved. Yeah, the Crossbones Vanguard (an awesome name for a unit btw) was essentially defeated, but what of Cosmos Babylonia? What of Cecily's grandfather and brother? They're still alive and well. As far as I know, there isn't more on this conflict, is there? Victory is about two other factions. And speaking of Victory, that's next!

Started Victory.

I'm a bit confused by this show, to be honest. I'm about two episodes in and I'm not entirely sure what the conflict. There are two factions so far, the League Militia and BESPA. Not sure why they're fighting or what their goals are. There is apparently a faction from Side 2 that is planning on taking over the earth as well. The show kind of jumped straight into the action.

Also, apparently there is a huge issue with illegal immigration from the colonies back to earth.

Uso seems pretty good so far, and I think Shakti is a cute girlfriend for him. She seems to be the narrator in a lot of ways.

Katejina is cute too >_>

The BESPA's mobile suits looks pretty neat. Their eyes are pretty cool.

Read Mobile Suit Crossbones Gundam and find out!

I have a strange passion for F91. Just absolutely love it and its sequel, with Crossbones potentially my favorite Gundam of them all.

Also, if you'll notice Newtype fervor really died down and biocomputer's purpose was basically to get around wars becoming about who had the better newtypes. I think that was supposed to be fallout from the Cyber Newtype experiments too. I mean thinking about what char and neo zeon did with the cyber newtypes was pretty damn inhumane and what we see in F91 is the effects of a reaction against them.
