Probably huh. Can't wait to find out about Bahagner.

I just remembered something. At the end of ZZ, Bright said that the real Mineva must have disappeared after the Gryps conflict. Does unicorn give any sort of insight into that?

apparently the explanation was that Char had Cyber-Newtype stuff done to Kamille to get him to recover from his coma more. But I guess that idea was scrapped or something?

Anyway, I'm two episodes into 0080. It's VERY different. The main character isn't even a pilot! But I like that a lot actually. It offers a different perspective and the protagonist, Al is pretty likeable.

0080 is pretty good so far. Episode 3 was cute. Al is a pretty good protagonist. I'm just kind of surprised how lacking the show is in Mobile Suits. But I think that's the point, honestly. It's about the war viewed from this kid's perspective. I wouldn't be surprised of some jerkwads are like "oh my god this show is so boring."

I've always liked how sympathetic Zeon was. Axis Zeon was to a degree as well, now that I think about it, but anyway this show really portrays Zeon as pretty normal, and that is something I respected. There is no differences between Zeon soldiers and Federation soldiers at the end of the day and I think this show does a great job of portraying that.

Thats the big thing. I think finding out how Kamille felt about Char's heel turn would have been interesting, there was just no role i n the film for him to play outside jobber and considering he is Amuro and Char's equal as a pilot that would have simply made no sense.

Also I'm glad he wasnt Gyunei because that would mean he wanted to cheat on Fa, and dammit FaMille is one of only two happy ending couples in the series. It needs to stay that way.

His most important role was being Hathaway's dad! He also hung out with his wife's ex-fiancee for a bit and got a bunch of information from him about Char's movements. Beyond that during the final battle he organized a missile barrage at Char and also was part of the team that planted nuclear warheads in Axis, so that it would seperate into two pieces

Just finished 0080

That show was ****ed up. I actually cried during the final episode at the part when Chris came to talk to Al about transferring back to the Earth and asking to say goodbye to Bernie. Knowing it was her that killed him...

Such a good show. Probably the deepest series by far. The fact that Bernie died for nothing is really upsetting though.

Surprising amounts of normal violence. It really caught me off guard when pretty much all the Cyclops Team died in episode 4. Really interesting perspective to take on the OYW in general. In fact, there really wasn't many mobile suits in general, and I'm completely ok with that.

0080 > 0079 > Zeta > Double Zeta > G

Poor Bernie.

Also, Garcia went out like a beast.

Which should I watch next: 8th MS Team or 0083?

Edit: I'm just not feeling too good right now guys. Everytime I think about this show, I start feeling upset and/or nauseated

"What about the Zeon pilot?"
"Nothing's left. Just a pile of hamburger"

God damn. Bernie deserved better. He didn't need to die >_<

Definitely not peer pressure. I won't lie, I wasn't initially too impressed by episode 1. I was like "oh hey, this is pretty neat. A story told from the perspective of a kid." Around the time Al joined the Zeon soldiers, I was hooked and really emotionally invested in the story. Poor Bernie. Poor poor Bernie. I really liked him. Christie, I initially liked but as the focus shifted from her to Bernie, I definitely started liking him more. Both were cool though.

I liked the captain alot. Steiner, I think his name was? Nice guy but tough. That show was a god damned tragedy.

I started the first ep of 0080 since David Hayter voiced one of the characters but I didn't really care for it. But I have heard nothing but great things about it; I should probably give it another shot.

I would suggest 0083 first. It's shorter, so you can sorta get it out of the way. It also does a great job of bridging the gap between 0079 and Zeta. It's a wonderful example of high quality hand-drawn art and animation. And I mean that sincerely, not like Doan's Island QUALITY.

My personal favorite is 08th MS Team, but it's a tad long compared to the other OVAs.

Frank, you sure about that? I just checked. 8th MS team is actually shorter than 0083. 8th has 12 episodes, 0083 has 13.

Also I strongly suggest giving 0080 another chance. The first episode is "ok" but by episode 2 or 3 I guarantee you'll be hooked. It's a very charming little show with a lot of heart.

Started 0083. It's pretty good so far! Gato seems pretty bad ass, almost Char tier (but not quite because Char is just TOO good) The artwork is fantastic as well, especially those mechs. Zakus have never looked so great. The story itself is pretty neat. Kind of a Top Gun-ish flair going on

SO far this show is pretty bad ass. Definitely Mecha porn, like Granzon once told me. Nothing wrong with that. That Kelly Layzner guy was a beast. I was sad when he died.

Keith is useless btw. Damn near blew up Nina

I didn't exactly catch the twist. Was it that Woolf's mobile suit designer (who btw is probably the best mobile suit designer EVER. From concept to completion in a matter of hours!) was playing both sides making UE mobile suits?

Pretty cool episode. Glad this Zalam vs Euba subplot is over. Woolf and Monsha from 0083 are kind of similar, aren't they? Both are playboys and both had duels for the main mobile suit. Monsha is more of a dick though

Just finished 0083

Wow, this was completely on the opposite spectrum of 0080. That show was a smaller, intimate personal story. This was on the scale of a normal Gundam series. If I have a complaint, it is that I wanted more of some of the side characters. This show had a pretty large cast and not a whole lot of time to develop them. Characters like Monsha disappear pretty much around episode 7. It's a shame because they were pretty neat, from what I did see of them.

The first half was pretty good, but damn was that second half intense. Nuking an entire fleet AND dropping a colony. Pretty busy show.

There was a lot of neat plot elements. So it was Operation Stardust that led to the creation of the Titans huh. Didn't expect to see more douchery from Bask Ohm or Jamitov. Remarkably, this show made me hate them even more! But I'm happy I know they both die like *****es in Zeta. Oh, and btw. Why I am not surprised that Monsha and his friends became Titans at the end? Hopefully Monsha got slaughtered when the AUEG fired the colony laser at the Titans fleet. I didn't like him much.

Kou was a pretty cool antagonist. Not entirely sure of his abilities as a pilot, but he was an interesting enough fellow and I certainly felt for him, especially when Nina turned on him in the final episode. If I had to rank the main characters in terms of piloting skills, it'd be something like

Amuro > > Kamille = Judau (not entirely sure who the better pilot is, though Kamille is definitely the stronger Newtype) > Kou > > > > > > > > > > > Bernie (sorry Bernie >_>). But yeah, Kou was a pretty cool guy. Sucks he kind of got screwed, but all's well that ends well, right?

Gato. What a bad ass. I liked him a lot. The Nightmare of Solomon indeed! Pretty much went around bossing this whole show. His final charge to get to the Axis fleet was incredible and for me, one of the most iconic moments in the franchise so far. Delaz was pretty neat too, and I appreciated the fact that he died pretty much the same way Gihren Zabi, his idol died. Betrayed by one of his closest people and shot in the head. Cima was a ***** and I'm happy she died like one. She single-handledly derailed Operation Stardust.

Another thing I want to comment on was the artwork. It was effing amazing. Never before has a Zaku II or Rick Dom looked so incredible. The character designs themselves were pretty good, but jeez was the mech artwork beautiful.

And finally. The music. Most of the BGM stuff was alright. I...actually don't recall much music to be honest, except for this one military song that plays a few times, and this loud DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUUN type song that plays at a cliffhanger. But the theme music was amazing. Men of Destiny and The Winner were fantastic and sure did get me pumped up for each episode. Good work to the people who made those songs.

Overall, it was a pretty interesting show. The first half kind of bogged things down a bit, but that second half was some really intense viewing.

0080 > 0079 > Zeta > 0083 > ZZ > Char's Counterattack > G

Up next: 08th MS Team.

Starting 08th MS Team. I watched this years ago and remember liking it alot. Let's see if my more mature opinions hold up!

OP is pretty good!

Wasn't expecting to see a Ball! Haven't seen one of those guys since the original series. I always thought they were kind of herpaderpy, but Shiro owned the hell out of that Zaku!

One thing I didn't quite buy was how quickly Shiro and Aina became friendly. I could understand them working together, but they became like lovey-dovey instantly. I guess its not a big deal though.

That kid who was writing letters. He's kind of annoying. But I guess that's his role in the story.

Oh, and one thing I didn't catch back in the day was Gihren's speech. And the operation the soldiers were refering to was probably Odessa!

Just finished 08th MS Team. I got really sad when the words "December 24th, 0079" came on screen. First thing that came to mind was "Meanwhile, on Side 6, Bernie just died".

Those kids at the end, were they all Newtypes? I mean, they ARE from the famous Flanagan Institute. Plus they demonstrate some sort of empathetic connection stuff that newtypes tend to have.

Overall, pretty good series. But let me get this out of the way first: I did not like how the show had entire units of Gundams. I mean, I guess people don't want to see a show about random GM pilots, but it kind of tore apart the logic of the rest of the OYW shows. I just came off as silly to me.

Pretty good cast. Everyone, even Michel became likeable. Sanders was my favorite character though. Norris and Bjorn were pretty bad ass too. Shiro was a pretty awesome main character but a suck ass mobile suit pilot. In terms of lead pilots, I'd say he's between Kou and Bernie in terms of skill.

The plot of the show is somewhere between 0080 and 0083 in terms of scale. It's not as intimate (or hearthfelt) as 0080, but not as epic as 0083. I would have liked to see more development between him and Aina. I also don't like how fast Ginias went from loving brother to sororicidal maniac. Other than that, it was pretty good little show with a great cast.

0080 > 0079 > Zeta > 0083 > ZZ > Char's Counterattack > 08th MS Team > G
