Also, why the hell is Torkoal not in Derp Tier? It's easily Ash's derpiest, most worthless pokémon up to the point you've watched.
Well, I've played DC1, but never finished it. I think I got to the dungeon after a gnome in a miniature helicopter joins you. I never played the second one. So... sorry? I do remember liking the genie chick, though.

I'm watching the Don Battle episodes right now, and good God they won't give this "pronouncing Kenyan's name wrong" thing a rest. It's every single time... I'm guessing it might be funnier if I knew Japanese (and even then, surely it's not still funny the tenth time it happens), but they'll definitely have to change the context of that joke for the English dubs.
Also, too much Zorua shapeshifting.

All-vital tag post. Don't mind me. I only tend to talk about episodes once I've seen them in dub form.

And I put Torkoal that high because it still defeated that really strong Steelix that one time. Though I might lower it to Derp Tier.
But then, wasn't there another time it failed to defeat a pokémon it had a 4x advantage over? That's prime candidacy for President of Derpville right thar.
Indeed. The great debate of whether his name is pronounced Ste-FAWN or STEFF-in has been chronicled.

Of all the people this season, I really don't know why they had to bring him back in the first place.
Then again, after a quick look through the episodes in B/W, it occurs to me that Ash hasn't really battled that many people in B/W, so I guess "of all the people this season" is basically just him.

Eeeehhhh, I'm willing to overlook the occasional failing against x4 advantages. Charizard once tied Chikorita, after all.

Last night I decided to figure out the win/loss ratio of Ash's B/W Pokemon. I included all non-Team Rocket trainer battles. Though really, every battle Ash has had was either with a gym leader or a rival trainer. So far, everyone he's battled has been in more than one episode, which for me puts them into rival territory. Well, there was an unimportant dude in the Don Battles, but it was still a tournament match, so it counts.
Pikachu and Tranquill have more losses than wins (but Tranquill's only important battle was when it was still a Pidove). Oshawott, Swadloon, and Palpitoad are the only ones with a win record higher than their loss record. Tepig and Snivy are even in wins/losses. Scraggy and Roggenrola haven't been used in any real trainer battles yet.
That said, I was only going from memory and looking through the episode pictures on Serebii, so there may have been one or two battles I neglected to count.
On Olden Pond "He's an artiste. And an artiste just cannot be rushed." Score: 3.1/10
Pikachu still cant pull off volt tackle consistently, so Ash is training it to master the move. Because the training is so intense (though as far as I can see, it just involves shouting Pikachu, use volt tackle! over and over again), the heroes decide to take a break by fishing. Ugh, Ill never understand people who like fishing. As far as Im concerned, its a necessary evil to get fish to eat, but not something I would do to relax.
They head to a famous fishing spot, a lake, but find its nearly empty. When they reach an abandoned boathouse, a Crawdaunt appears and attacks them. Even though hes seen Crawdaunt before, Ash pulls out the pokedex, which tells him that ponds inhabited by Crawdaunt tend to become desolate, as they bully everything else away. Uh... what? I can see them bullying Psyduck and stuff away, but a good amount of water pokemon are fish that can't ah screw it.
Ash sends out Corphish, and realizing that Crawdaunt is physically stronger, Ash orders Corphish to use the exact same moves as it, so its crab hammer impacts with Crawdaunt's and so on, so as to ensure Corphish's failure by playing to its weaknesses. Unsurprisingly, Crawdaunt defeats Corphish, destroys their fishing poles just to be a dick, and a girl named Tiffany shows up and chases it off. She's the boathouse owner, and tells the heroes that the lake used to be popular a year ago. Sadly, a luxury day spa company demanded she leave so they could take over the lake, because luxury day spa companies are literally made out of Satan and cancer.
They introduced a crazy Crawdaunt into the lake to drive everything in it away and ruin the fishing, and Tiffany can't get it to go away. Tiffany's grandmother shows up and tells the heroes that Crawdaunt is tougher than they think, and literally says nothing when Ash says his Corphish can defeat it while Pikachu literally stands on his shoulder. I mean, sorry, Ash, but bigger things are afoot here than your Corphish's ego. Just have Grovyle or Pikachu kick Crawdaunt's ass, either of them would take like two minutes to solve this problem.
The heroes follow Crawdaunt to the head luxury day spa guy, Mr. Saridakis (?!?), who has hired Team Rocket, disguised as artiste architects, to design the spa, even though you would assume that he already has architects specialized in this kind of thing since he literally owns a luxury day spa company.
Tiffany Mr. Oddly Greek Name, and he accepts Ash's challenge to a battle on the condition that if he wins, he gets the boathouse and the lake. Tiffany agrees to this even though she's never seen Ash battle, she knows Corphish lost the earlier match, and she must know that Corphish has a significant disadvantage. Even Ash tells her this is stupid, but she insists that they battle tomorrow because.
As they leave, Mr. Saridakis reveals that he hates this lake because as a kid, he nearly drowned in it, and he still doesnt know how he survived. Thus, he wants revenge on the lake by turning into a day spa. I would complain, but this is a better motive than half of the villains on this show have had, so, alright.

Ash spends the next few hours training Corphish by battling Pikachu, even though Pikachu uses a completely different battle style than Crawdaunt and thus experience against it is useless. Tiffany's grandmother tells Ash the same thing and sends out a Vaporeon. In the ensuing battle, Vaporeon purposefully tackles Corphish into some lakegrass to trap it, and then finishes it off. She then tells Ash that he can't counter power with power because he has less, which is a lesson he literally learned in the fourteenth episode of season 1, where Pikachu fought Lt. Surge's Raichu. This is literally one of the very first things Ash learned how to do, this is a lesson that predates Togepi's introduction, and he needs an old lady to remind him of it. Whats even more insulting is that the episode frames this as Ash learning to use the environment, specifically the lake, to his advantage, even though Ashs entire thing is being able to improvise better than most other trainers. Remember the time he defeated a Blastoise with a Charizard by using the area to his advantage? And were supposed to believe that this old lady knows anything useful that she can teach Ash? Please.
Cut to the next day's battle, where Corphish is able to use the environment to its advantage and get the upper hand. Before the battle can end, Team Rocket steals Crawdaunt and Pikachu in a flying giant robot, so Squirtle and Corphish stage a daring rescue by launching Squirtle at Jessie and James using crab hammer, and hilariously, Squirtle's attack does literally nothing to the giant robot because, oh yeah, it's made out of metal and Squirtle is made out of turtle. Fortunately, the heroes rescue the pokemon anyway and blast Team Rocket off in a way that, oddly enough, doesn't involve volt tackle. I waited this entire episode for volt tackle to come up again, I legitimately thought Pikachu would defeat Team Rocket using it.
Mr. Saridakis falls into the lake and almost drowns, but Tiffanys grandmother dives in and rescues him, and he regains his memory of the day, realizing that she saved him back when she was only middle-aged. When he asks why she saved him, she tells him that she only rescued him because of "my love for the lake," so I assume that means she just didn't want a skeleton on the bottom of her lake, with Magikarp adorably swimming between the bones and such. As Mr. Saridakis announces that he won't build a day spa here, all of the water pokemon return within twenty seconds and the lake is full of life again.
Do not watch this episode.

Sounds about right, Unova hates Pikachu, Ash hates Tranquil, Oshawott is the star, Swadloon and Palpitoad are rarely used strong pokemon, Snivy is strong but gets loses to show how strong the opponent is and Tepig is just there.

Lol, good writeup and good advice, but unfortunately I believe I already watched that episode ages ago. I remember that weird name and Corphish fighting Crawdaunt.

I was actually surprised by Snivy and Tepig. I thought Snivy would've been better and Tepig worse. I think it's just that Snivy hasn't actually been used in that many trainer battles, even though it's always seemed highly competent in other episodes its been used in. The opposite is true for Tepig, in that it's been less competent in other episodes.

That's different. The entire episode is twenty-two minutes long, and besides, people always feel sorry for dogs. You see a dog on the cover of a book, you know it's going to die in front of its owner in some heartwrenching way that symbolizes the loss of innocence. In fact, in fourth grade I once read a book about a little girl in the 1800s who ran away from her evil aunt with nothing except her dog, and a bum told her it was a good move because people will always donate money to feed the dog and not the little girl. Also: the first Futurama movie ruined the episode, I'm sorry. Not at Highlander 2 levels of ruining a good story, but close.

This is one of the reasons I subscribe to Fanon Discontinuity towards the movies.
Honestly, I'm glad Futurama got uncancelled, but some of the movies were not great. The fantasy in particular just seemed to throw the fantasy aspects in for the sake of advertising it as a fantasy movie, and then it was completely irrelevant for the actual story.

It was never anything even close to an exaggeration. SG1 is by far the strongest show in the franchise.

Tactics Theatrics!! "What type of pokemon do you think you work with best? What do you think of reporters who ask a lot of questions?" Score: 7.5/10
The heroes have finally reached the Battle Dome, and surprisingly, dozens of onlookers and reporters are there. It seems that Ash is pretty popular here and everyone is looking forward to his upcoming fight. You would think this is because hes the Orange Islands champion whos placed in the Top Sixteen of three different other tournaments, but no, its because he already has two frontier symbols.
Cut to the Battle Dome. Literally tens of thousands of fans, who are almost all teenage girls, are here to watch Tucker. Sorry, uh... I'm not an expert on teenage girls, I will admit that I had only one girlfriend throughout all of my elementary, middle, and high school years, but, uh... aren't they generally attracted to either annoying girly teenage boys like Justin Bieber or manlier stock than... this?
I'm not really an expert on Japanese teenage girl culture, but I can recognize what it means when girls surgically replace their eyeballs with giant novelty pink hearts.
Literally the only girl in the stadium who isnt all over Tucker is May, who instead only admires the theatrics of everything, which makes sense given her coordinator status. So, uh, you'll forgive me if I'm a little confused about Tucker's popularity.
Tucker tells Ash that this is a double battle, and his theme is Hot and Cool, which means Fire and Ic-- Fire and Water, and throws out an Arcanine and a Swampert. The announcer gives Ash access to a teleporter and tells him that he can use any pokemon he owns, so he decides to use Corphish and Swellow, two that he already had with him. Honestly? It's not a bad choice. Grovyle would obviously be the ideal anti-Swampert, but Arcanine counters it, so honestly, this is acceptable. Ash even makes a special point of explaining why he cant use Pikachu against a ground type, which clearly disappoints it.
Swellow's quick attack is countered by Arcanine's extremespeed, and we quickly realize Tucker's plan: Arcanine attacks, Swampert spams protect and gets in the way of Ash's attacks. Arcanine is incredibly versatile and powerful, and even knows aerial ace of all random moves. Ash loses an interaction, and Scott starts criticizing him, saying that he's versatile but not very tactical. Even double team proves useless against Tucker, who has trained Arcanine specifically to use fire blast on double team images and dispel them. Eventually, Swampert uses the ultimate water move, water pulse, and combines it with fire blast, and Tucker reveals his true strategy: combining opposite elements.
After a long battle, Ash tricks Arcanine into using extremespeed on Swampert, and when Arcanine uses flamethrower, Corphish hits it with bubblebeam to create steam. Finally, he has Swellow fly Corphish into Arcanine and use aerial ace on Swampert while it uses crabhammer on Arcanine. I understand crabhammer knocking out Arcanine in one hit, but aerial ace defeating Swampert in one hit? Well, it doesnt matter, because Ash is now awarded a symbol.
Probably the only reason I rank this episode so high is Tucker. I honestly expected him to sound like Harley, but instead he has a ridiculously deep, booming voice and explains everything that happens around him using needlessly flowery dialogue. Its pretty great.

To be completely honest, waaaaay back in the RBY days, I didn't think highly of Arcanine, or any fire type, for that matter. Arcanine has grown on me over the years, the rest, not so much. I still don't get the love for Ninetales. It's good, but it gets a lot of love.
