It's really fun and flashy, especially for the time, but it seriously lacks the depth of FFX. There are a bunch of really easy cheese strats after getting a few spheres. You just pick one and steamroll the whole game with it. Using any other spheres or garment grids was just intentionally hurting yourself. Whereas each area in FFX felt like a real step up in challenge with new attack patterns from enemies, and most every boss is some sort of puzzle that is really well balanced. You can always grind to make the boss easier, but you have to figure out the "trick" either way. On replays it ends up being super fun to use your knowledge to go way faster and beat bosses underleveled. Been able to revist areas really adds good layers to the experience and I found that really cool. I liekd the interaction between characters as well. On the other hand, there isn't going much in certain areas in certain loops of the game. What I like the least isn't even the main plot (which sucks), or that you aren't done leveling jobs when the game ends (and again and again), it's the missables and BS hidden stuff that only get unlocked with several arbitrary answer combinations, or the order in which you do trivial things. Game is riddled with those and require several playthroughs to get everything, and if you missed what you wanted, you have to wait till the other loop, and by then you aren't replaying the game cause of the fun factor. I know why it kinda had to happen, but I didn't like how no one pointed out the hypocrisy. It was just treated as a valiant thing. In X-2, I loved how Yuna acknowledged the bitter feeling she'd been left with, and she refused to allow anyone to sacrifice themself this time around. She didn't like that plan. It sucked. That quote is a meme for a good reason, it's a funny line, but I unironically love it because it shows how far she's come as a character. Yuna starts X as someone ready to sacrifice herself, then ends X-2 as someone who won't allow sacrifice at all. Yuna sacrificing herself wouldn't have killed Sin, it would have just brought the Calm for a couple of years. Tidus, on the other hand, sacrificed himself to get rid of Sin for good. The outcome is drastically different so you can't really compare the two. The outcome is drastically different so you can't really compare the two.
