I didn't know a president could just clap his hands together and decide, "whelp, time to ramp up this capital punishment thing." I thought the convicted had legal appeals and stuff to drag the process out, it wasn't just a matter of the president deciding to get on w/ it right away. I'm fine w/ people guilty of murders getting executed, as long as the process isn't rushed and evidence withheld / investigations into whether the trial was a sham / etc... His only theoretical involvement is his ability to commute sentences, at which point you'd probably be making a topic about him "letting murderers off the hook" Personally, I'm not in favor of the death penalty (excluding maybe in the case of revolutionary/terrorist leaders and mob bosses) or even life sentences. Notwithstanding that it was a pretty horrible crime, but it's not the sort of thing that really warrants a death penalty in the first place. It should have just been a prison sentence.
