Day 14: Ghost Type

Ghost type once suffered from the same issue Dark type suffered from, only reversed. Ghost type pokémon typically had higher Special Attack than normal Attack, but relied solely on physical Attack stat to power their Ghost type moves (of which there were very few). Since then, GameFreak has stepped the Ghost game up phenomenally. The Phys/Spec split made them much more capable, and in addition to a new arsenal of Ghost attacks, Ghost types have always had the ability to learn various moves of other types, making them not only formidable, but also versatile. A force to be reckoned with for sure.

5. Drifblim


Tbh, I'm not even sure why I like Drifblim more than Misdreavus, Mismagius, etc. I just do.

4. Shedinja


Now Shedinja I know exactly why I like. The concept of how it's created is just so... nifty! When a Ninjask is evolved, the chrysalis it emerges from becomes animated and becomes an entity on its own. That's way cool.

3. Lampent



... I just love Lampent okay? I like pocket monsters that wear cute little sombreros. :3

2. Sableye



Everyone who dislikes Sableye needs to open their eyes so they can see what a gem he is! Sableye da (second) best! It's cute. One of the cutest Ghost types ever and best of all: NO NATURAL WEAKNESSES!

1. Haunter



Aw yeah. This isn't one of those Crazy Sagapinions thankfully. The Haunter/Gengar fanbase seems to be split almost evenly. I'd say about sixty percent prefer Gengar, but I'm proud to be one of the 40%. Haunter is the quintessential Ghost type to me. I mean... it looks like a ghost. Gengar looks like a dark Clefable. I've always liked Haunter more! <3

Honorable Mention: Frillish Had to put Frillish here over Mismagius/Misdreavus because the concept of a jellyfish that drifts through the water like a disembodied spirit just tickles me pink until I turn blue. And they're adorable. I don't like they're evolved forms too much, especially not the female variety. Yikes!

Bottom 5

23. Gastly


I'm pretty indifferent to Gastly. Gengar and especially Haunter are much better, as are many of the ghosts that came in later gens like Misdreavus and Froslass. I just can't see myself placing anything else here, even though I don't dislike the Poison Gas pokémon at all.

24. Dusknoir


Eh... Dusknoir is a trainwreck design wise. I don't really dislike it so much as I like Duskull and Dusclops far better. Also being slow as all get out doesn't help it. You know I just really prefer the Shuppet line to the Duskull line anyway. Where the f*** is Banette's evo GameFreak!?

25. Rotom


You already know my feeling on Rotom. Cool concept, uncool design, wasted potential in my book. It doesn't count as a repeat if I use another forme right? F*** it, it doesn't. Idodeclaire it does not!

26. Litwick


That's right you bastards. You have all caused me to hate cute lil' Litwick. You f***ing know who you are! Especially you, Whirly! YOU RUIN EVERYTHING!

27. Spiritomb


Aaaaaaand here it is. I hate Spiritomb with a passion for two reasons: 1) It's ugly as f***. I don't like ugly pokémon. I've already said such. 2) It's got exactly the same gimmick as Sableye (NO NATURAL WEAKNESSES), only with better stats aside from Speed and probably sees more competitive use if it's not banned. Don't feel like looking up if it is or not. Point is, poo on you Spiritomb.
