Basculin's stats are pretty good. I wasn't expecting much when I caught it, but it became a staple of my team. Also, it's a badass angry looking fish.

Gotta say LOL Zekrom though, having a lantern in your ass isn't exactly good-looking. I remember liking Zekrom and Reshiram somewhat more until the game literally has a cutscene just to show you that they have heat/electricity generators in their butts. That's when I thought "yeah Kyurem forever plz".

And yes, I'm glad Snivy didn't win mostly because of Whirly, but also because Dewott was the way better starter and should've taken its place in third imo. But it would've been really f***in' weak if Whirly destroyed a contest with his anti-rallying and a favorite of his still won. Really. F***in'. Weak.

#17 - Roserade

Roserade is pretty damn awesome for a Grass/Poison type... but Poison is a really sorry type, so that's not really saying much. Indeed, Roserade is totally badass and cool, but it's still the least favorite of my favorites.

#16 - Cobalion

I love Cobalion, I do! But it's just too recent for me to have developed that much of an attachment to it. Plus it's a Legendary and I tend to not like pokémon gifted with exceptional power from conception as much as surprisingly powerful pokémon of normal circumstances.

#15 - Lapras

Lapras has fallen quite a ways in my eyes as of late. It's still my favorite Ice type, but that doesn't stop her from being the lowest Gen1 rep on my favorites list.

#14 - Electivire

Each of the next upcoming pokémon (Electivire included) has been helped phenomenally by their anime appearances. Electivire versus Infernape is probably my favorite anime battle of all time, and Electivire bossed it.

#13 - Excadrill

Poor guy got banned for being too damn awesome apparently. :( I've only used an Excadrill in-game so I know nothing of the details concerning it competitively but apparently Excadrill + sand storm = nono. Anyway, Iris' Excadrill is a beast and it totally beasted that one tournament battle. 99 wins in a row without a loss? Come on! It's the staple of her team and rightly so considering the only pokémon she has other than it is a baby and a lover, not a fighter.

#12 - Staraptor

Staraptor is so cool other than its crest which looks like emo hair. Without that it would seriously be three spaces higher. It still has the coolest name of any pokémon I can think of off the top of my head, and Ash's Staraptor served him well. It's hilarious to see it use Close Combat though. XD

#11 - Larvitar and Tyranitar

The dynamic duo clocks in as my 11th favorite favorite(s). That Larvitar that Ash kind of owned but not really has to have been his most adorable pokémon. So cute. And Tyranitar was the beast Numero Dos of my Crystal team (My Feraligatr "Precious" was beast Numero Uno) and was useful even before it got its Ability.

#10 - Haunter

HAW HAW HAW. Haunter could be thi high based on being the resident troll of the anime alone, but it's also way cool in the game (*cough* cooler than Gengar *cough*)

#9 - Houndoom

And in the very middle of my favorites list stands the magnificent, marvelous, merciless Hound of Impending Doom. Congrats on winning Save My Dark type Pokémon the other day, big guy.

#8 - Dragonair

I'm afraid I don't have much to say about the beautiful, elegant sea dragon, Dragonair other than that, like Lapras, it has fallen a bit in recent memory. Not even sure why.

#7 - Cacturne

Meanwhile, Cacturne has only gone up! I used to not like him at all, then I started liking him quite a bit once I used one in battle. Now I love the thing. At this rate, it could eventually end up as my third favorite pokémon! (It will never surpass the first two).

#6 - Kadabra

Kadabra has consistently been in my top ten pokémon of all time. Unless the next generations bring something epic, it's not going anywhere for quite some time.

#5 - Zangoose

I love this little guy so much.

#4 - Scyther

In the games, it's boss. In the anime, it's boss despite having the absolute lamest owner. In my heart, it's boss. Scyther is so cool. And it's rather cute for a bug.

#3 - Krokorok

Krokorokorokorok is the best. Such a commanding presence. I'm so glad [spoilers] caught that [spoilers] that's been running around because it seems like [spoilers] would be a really dynamic addition to [spoilers]'s team.

#2 - Dewott

Oh my gosh Dewott. Never has a pokémon risen to such heights in my list of favorites in so short a time. I'm going to digress here a bit and say that Ash's Oshawott is the best pokémon he has ever caught in terms of personality. It's just... bursting with brilliance. He's sweet but a little stubborn (not to the point of being annoying, Fathead so take notes), he's absolutely hilarious, he's confident but knows when he needs to back down, and to top it off he's a little Romeo hitting on all the lady pokémanz like a true player. If Ash's Oshawott were ever to not only evolve but also manage to retain this personality as a Dewott, Dewott could quite easily tie or even surpass my last favorite on the list which is of course...






#1 - Arcanine!!

I'm sure you guys saw this coming! I skipped on the writeup last time but I'm ready to give it a real go now. Arcanine is... simply the best. It's a lion crossed with a tiger in the form of a dog, which makes one big, badass fluffy companion. How can you possibly not love this guy? He's a f***ing Legend. Okay, not really, but its species is literally the Legendary pokémon, not for its innate ability to f*** s*** up like some cheap ass big bird that sits at the top of a tower or something, but because of its speed, strength, and grace. It just looks legendary, because it is. It's the pokémon legends are made of dammit. Beast.

Worst of the Worst

#17 - Carvanha

Carvanha is really only here on necessity. It's not that bad at all, but it's easily my least favorite of the Dark types. I mean Purrloin sucks, but at least it's cute. Carvanha... gives me nothing. At least I don't hate it.

#16 - Mawile

Yeah... I still don't like Mawile. I don't like the giant maw coming out of a ponytail on its head and I really don't like that confusing RS sprite. Brings back memories of when I though Metapod was an angry cocoon face with a nose only to later learn it was actually a sad cocoon face with a back spike. Only Metapod can get away with it because he's awesome. Imitators are dumb. But I will admit I've warmed up to Mawile over time even though it's still my least favorite Steel type next to maybe Ferrothorn which I had already used in my Grass list and was not about to repeat.

#15 - Karrablast

Karrablast confuses me so. Every time I see it I go from "Hey, it's kind of cute" to "Wait, what the hell was I thinking? This guy ain't cute at all!" I seem to be stuck in that second phase as of late, but it's still a lot more tolerable than some of these other guys.

#14 - Spiritomb

Sableye so much superior Spiritomb is bad in comparison. Yep. :P

#13 - Shelgon

Shelgon is just so forgettable. Does anyone actually like this guy? I mean, a cocoon evo for a non-insectoid dragon was such a bunk idea I cant even

#12 - Snowy Castform (Hail forme)

Castboob is intolerable in this form imo. I don't even mind Sunny or Rainy Castboob so much, but Snowy is just... blurgh.

#11 - Chingling

Let's all hear it for the fourth worst baby everyone! Though Tyrogue, Magby, and Igglybuff are even worse, luckily for them each has a buffer standing between them and the last spot. Luckily for them... only Chingling can claim the worst of its type as a mere baby. Congrats you!

#10 - Landorus

Hurblughhurgh.

#9 - Minun

I wish I could place Minun lower, but I really can't. Yikes.

#8 - Snubbull

Even my somewhat irrational hatred for this ugly bulldog in a sad clown dress cannot force me to place it lower than these other losers.

#7 - Rhyperior

This dude is not superior to anything in his line. Should've been named "Rhyperion", because Serperior does the superior thing soooo much better, and should've looked less like a fresh turd.

Why does the only poor Flying type have to look like some sprite designer blew chunks on a page and decided to roll with it?

This guy just sucks so bad. Do I need to remind anyone that his arms are penises? Because they are. Veiny, ugly peens. In fact, let me explain how he offends all five of my senses. U-G-L-Y, he ain't got no alibi- he ugly. To the point that he offends my eyeballs. He's lumpy and got disgusting veins running all through his body. This would offend my palms if he were real enough to touch. He's a Fighting type, so he probably does a lot of training which means a lot of sweating. That would offend my poor little nose. And I'm pretty sure gross, salty sweat doesn't taste so great either. Were my tongue ever to accidentally land on this guy, I'd have to amputate it. He even sounds stupid in the anime. And let's not forget his name, "Gurdurr". With a name like that you just know he sounds intelligent. Offensive to my sad ears. Just... terrible.
