Inspired by some shitty topic ending in a shitty way. This is the most efficient rating scale, do not use other ones, you're welcome.

i prefer the wrestling Dave scale where I can occasionally give a game over 5 stars and nobody can question if thats silly

I somewhat like the idea but "Masterpiece" is used waaaaay too often for my taste.

I think a 5 point scale is good enough for someone's individual ranking. Masterpiece should be reserved for larger group consensus. Say, anything that gets, like, 90% of people to rank something at the highest level.

S = Masterpiece
A = Very good
B = Good
C = Average
D = Bad
F = Very bad

The thing I find unsatisfying is that not all ratings have single word descriptors so...

5 = Masterpiece
4 = Excellent
3 = Good
2 = Average
1 = Bad
0 = Garbage

4 - Must play
3 - Recommended
2 - Borderline
1 - Not recommended

Seems fine enough to me, could go up to 5, I wouldn't go more than that

X-point scale where X = the total number of all video games that exist, and each rating is only ever assigned to a single video game

S - Incredible
A - Excellent
B - Great
C - Really Good
D - Pretty Good

I dont like a scale where average isnt perfectly in the middle so nah.

1-9 scale is the best. That way 5 is average and you've got 3 clear tiers of bad/average/good with equal room for granularity

I have steadfastly refused to use S above A as a descriptor, even if others do it. If we absolutely need a letter above A because oh oops we set the scale wrong when we started, then wrap around the alphabet and use Z. That way if you need to go above THAT, you have an obvious direction to go, instead of going uhh uhh double-S! Yeah!

Guys don't use S that's silly and only for Devil May Cry use this:

5 = Very good
4 = Good
3 = Average
2 = Bad
1 = Very bad

Change is frightening but you have to accept what's better

Dunno about the rest of the sentence, but I've always wished rating systems did this. Neutral should be centered at 0, with however many equal positive and negative values.

Literally the school mark scale in Bulgaria, with small wording differences: 6 = excellent, 2 = poor, 1 = bad.
