All pretty solid. I have warmed up to Inteleon, Greninja and Samurott a lot over the years, after initially not being too fond.

I actually kinda like the idea behind Inteleon, but he looks like a normal mon final form, not a starter. Does that make sense?

Greninja only barely takes it due to Smash showing, honestly, Empoleon a close second due to usability back when I actually cared about playing semi-competitively, since Water/Steel is a very cool typing.

Final water starters are the best. Other than the last two I really like all of them!

Feraligatr > Empoleon > Blastoise > Greninja > Samurott > Swampert > Primarina > Inteleon

These are all good, but none really stand out. I like Feraligatr and Swampert, but I'm probably leaning Empoleon or Primarina.

Samurott, Greninja, and especially Inteleon are kinda awful, but the rest are fine.

I think I'll go with... Feraligatr.

I think Swampert and Feraligatr are my bottom 2, and Primarina is just above that. The other 5...I could vote for any one of them. I'm going to go with Samurott, though. Underrated.

Blastoise, Feraligatr, and Greninja are great. Empoleon is okay. The rest are.... man, water starters start out so good...

Usually don't feel good amount ranking the batch, but this felt like it had a clear step each time.

All of them are really good, but Feraligatr has been my favorite Pokemon since I first played Gold.

Great set. Leaning Blastoise but Im gonna think it over a bit.

Empoleon is THE greatest water pokemon of all time. Blastoise is awesome too.

Samurott aggravates me since it doesn't look at all like a natural evolution from the perfection that is Dewott.

Greninja's tongue scarf upsets me to no end.

Blastoise is the best of his generation, and - if not Typhlosion - would be my favorite final starter period: A bipedal turtle-tank with fucking cannons sprouting from his shell! Love Charizard all you want, but there is little found in him that is not found in the standard European fire-breathing dragon. Though these two are about equal in coolness, Blastoise is the better in originality. Meanwhile, Feraligatr and Empoleon, our joint silver, would trounce the first-placer of many other days and are probably both top 5 final starters overall. The remaining five here (bar Greninja, who nonetheless trails at a significant fourth) don't even come close to these three.

If this result holds Squirtle line goes 1-2-1, a tie for all three unless you penalize Charmander more for getting less 1st

Primarina is my fave pokemon

Inteleon doesn't seem like an inherently bad design, it just doesn't look like a fully-evolved starter at all

I like all of them, for what it's worth.

i have a bad tendency to never use the water starters (despite generally liking them, most have good personality traits by default which is a noticeable plus) so i went and actually compared their statspreads before making any decision here

gotta admit i didn't expect swampert to have the highest attack (or for all of them to be so generally lacklustre in that area)...

gameplay wise samurott would be cleanly at the bottom for me but truthfully, all i actually gleaned from checking this is that a lot of them aren't as fun to use as they should be so it's not as big a factor as i thought it would be. in any case, maybe it's because it was fortunately in the same gen as the musketeer legendaries but i feel like they really nailed this super noble and passionate samurai style with it even with the non-bipedal form. it's that sense of character that pulls it over the edge for me, even with everything else here being as cool as they are

also side shoutout to inteleon for being greninja but more fun gameplay wise lol (and just cooler (personal preference))
