The last minute and a half of Valkyrie being there still pisses me off, but the preceding 7:20 is just so good. Eyes on Me is a better song than I remember at least.

Also not digging From the Heavens as much as I did Ultima but still good enough.

hello favorite song in the contest!!! and in the entire series!!!!! i legit listened to valkyrie for the first time on complete accident and didnt actually know it so i thought "holy SHIT i have been sleeping on ace combat 7 for too long time to listen to it" and then i looked and it was actually Final Fantasy Flippin 7 like what the fuck. all this song is missing is the bombastic choir and it's on par with megalith/unsung war/gracemeria (not zero tho lol zero is an ethereal being compared to "Music") and ngl it's better than at least megalith anyway

it's prob going to lose real bad here but i love eyes on me a lot as well so it won't be too terrible but yeah this is actually the only song I feel really strongly about in the contest so yup

frustrated about this being the xi rep UGH like i'm also guilty of not refreshing myself on xi bgm in a long while but still UGH

also mixed feelings about seeing valkyrie here since it gives off a false impression that keiki kobayashi always sounds like ace combat outside of ace combat when something like this where they clearly said he should go out of his way to isn't really the norm. anyway it's actually good though so not that mixed

I feel strongly about matches 1 and 4, really hope at least one makes it through. Distant Worlds is one of my fav discoveries of the contest, it's such a beautiful song. The first couple mins aren't as good imo but I really love the whole experience, once Susan Calloway comes in it goes off the scale!

I've always loved Eyes on Me, and somehow it's the only version of the song in the contest despite the dozens of remixes ingame! The central hook of Valkyrie is great, but the track spends too long waffling around it. Get to the good part already! VIIR songs in general go on longer than they need to for me.

I am a little, teensy bit, extra sentimental today

The Castle is better than I remember, with the intro portion sticking out the most. To be honest, I could say the same about Antipyretic. I have no excuse for why I haven't revisited Tactics in so long.
