Nah, the "because you're lazy/stupid" thing is what makes it reckless endangerment, rather than attempted murder. Murder requires intent to cause harm, not just apathy or incompetence (outside of extremely egregious cases, and Covid isn't deadly enough to qualify for that).

I'm on your side of this issue but "deadly" is not an accurate descriptor with the fatality rate we have. That's a word that connotes the kind of survival rates we see in, like, ebola

The issue with the virus isn't that it's a particularly deadly virus - it's that it's extremely transmissible, which makes even the small odds of a dire outcome translate into huge numbers.

If everybody rolls the dice, you get a lot of snake eyes, but that doesn't mean it's rational to act as though every throw of the dice has high probability to produce that result

It's less the number of people it's killed and more the chances of killing somebody. Odds are, you aren't going to kill anyone you give Covid to. Consider the difference between stabbing somebody in the chest and punching them in the head: The latter can kill somebody, but generally won't unless you get them just right or they're particularly vulnerable to it. The former probably will, unless you do it wrong or they're lucky. As such, the latter is assault and the former is attempted murder.
