This. In fact I'm certain I've banged a few. A lot of racist white guys/girls have a thing for black men physically. But they still look down on you as a person or culturally etc. It matters not because in my situation we just using each other. It's not like I am gonna be friends with them or even bother talking to them afterwards. We just go our separate ways.

I'm just curious

I don't get the whole idea, it's like you beat the game but you're saying you'd never pick it back up again?

Doesn't it still have replay value?

On topic, I really have no clue. I know I said what I said in the other topic about "are you racist", but that's not truly racism. I don't just go around calling/thinking "so and so is a this or that", and if someone does, well, that's kind of off putting. When I was younger, it was kind of a joke. Having a black friend who was older and "more intelligent", I was always "jackass" or "dumbass" so I could always resort to... hehehe

the easiest insult I could think of back

it wasn't actually serious, it was more like a thing that was either funny for shock value or to keep his ego in check

but anyway

It really depends, the funny part is, I didn't even know my grandpa was black for half my life

I just know that some people aren't always completely comfortable around other people 24/7, but some people choose to stay in/perpetuate that bubble, and it's not always an attractive bubble

Depends how big the bubble is, I guess.

Replaying as you call it was never part of the equation. This was pre covid but most people I dealt with until last year were tourists. They would only be looking for hookups before they went back to whichever country they came from. A few I saw more than once if they were staying a while, but that wasn't often. Even with one offs it was still long enough for me to get a sense of the kind of people they were. Some were clearly no use. More than once I got compared "favourably" to other locals since I didn't act how they perceived us all to be (bad mannered, thuggish, only looking for money etc). I had my own issues with locals but those bad kinds were in the minority. You could say these visitors were ignorant since they didn't know much about us and were only here for fun. Others didn't have that excuse because they were expats living and working here.

Also your grandfather is black? Are you white? It seems a lot of white Americans have black extract and don't know. I mean it should be obvious why with the slave history and all.

Well, I'm in New England, so the only race people are publicly racist against is my own (and generally their own). And if you had to worry about dating racists anywhere in the Northeast US (or probably the entirety of the US for that matter), you wouldn't be able to date at all. More generally, though, the question largely comes down to the nature of the racism and how that racism is expressed. If they're randomly claiming that white people ruined the world in your average conversation -- which is considered a socially acceptable form of racism, along with other anti-white racism that people who complain about racism don't even bat an eye at -- that's something I'm going to distance myself from. I don't run into a lot of WTF racism where it's something so outlandishly offensive you don't even want to stand near them.

As a general rule, if somebody is racially-virtue-signaling (or signalling their politics) on a dating profile, that's a hard pass right then and there because there's no reason to do that and if that's how they're choosing to present themselves, they're either insufferable or devoid of personality. Either way, I don't want anything to do with them. Usually I prefer to meet people offline, though, where unfortunately you might not spot a deal-breaker right away.

That depends on a lot of factors. It's like asking if you'd date someone of the opposing political party without giving any further details. Do you two get along well otherwise outside of the area of contention? Any similar/shared interests or hobbies? How big of an aspect of their lives is the racism and how racist are they? There's a world of difference between 'I laughed at a jew joke once', 'Jews have funny noses', and 'HEIL MEIN FUROR!'

Assuming we're talking about someone who has some racist beliefs but recognizes them as a shortcoming, doesn't act on them (intentionally), and at least tries to be a decent person otherwise then yes. I would assuming we had compatibilities elsewhere. If we're talking about someone who advocates actively for the extermination of an inferior race then I'd likely stay faaaaaar away.

Depends the extent of their racism. Much like any belief they have. If they go out of their way to victimise people of a different race on a daily bases and even cause physical hard to people then no. If however they say the odd racist joke or comment now and then it wouldn't be a major deal breaker for me. Most people have made a "racist" comment or two at some point in their lives and I'm not that fussy.

I see... I actually missed this post

I am very white skinned, quite pale, but as far as ethnicity goes - and forgive me if I explain it sloppily for lack of extensive knowledge - My mom's side of the family is Puerto Rican. Her grandparents (my great grandparents) both from Puerto Rico. Her father I believe is what one refers to as Louisiana French? Or Creole? I don't know, I always get confused about it - But he is a lighter skinned black man from Louisiana - who was not in her, or my own life, for the greater part of it. We had to "rediscover" him after she finally came around and told the story - I faintly remember her finally coming forward about the origins, she kind of paused and she was like "and he, is actually...." and i was like

"black?"

"Yes"

Which I mean is kind of a "DUH." thing since I grew up with a black cousin/uncle.

So anyway, she came out light skinned (i just figured we were white people with Puerto Rican origins), and her brother came out dark ("black"), and then she has another brother from a different guy (same mom) who was German but that's another branch.

So my dad's side is whatever flavor of Caucasian they happen to be, white people country folks, I hear maybe his dad has Polish, there are even stories about pirates and I'm not really sure, but his mom is also from Louisiana I believe. And we are from Texas.

I did some of that ancestry.com digging stuff and to no surprise (but a bit of a revelation), there were slave owners on my dad's side of the family

And with another thing to note, his grandpa, my great grandpa, they say, was a Freemason! Which might have something to do with why my life is so weird, but I would have no idea because obviously, I don't know much about it/them, except for the fact that the idea of secret societies weirds me the hell out.

So the roots are kind of all over the place, but that's the gist of it

Hispanic, black, white, it's kind of a tossup

Oh right, those weren't the only children, she has at least two other black siblings, by her dad, but not by her mom, as far as I can remember.

I've told all this stuff at least once before, but here it is again

Part of being a mature adult is being able to tell the difference between a joke and reality (as well as being able to laugh at yourself).

I do sort of feel like people now-a-days can't tell the difference between someone just trying to be funny and someone who actually means and/or believes what they say.
