I'm very picky when it comes to paying full price for games. I'm actually going to be more picky now PS5 exclusive games will cost 70 in the UK. Only a handful of games I even think about paying full price for. What about you PotD?

No. I bought tlou2 new, and spiderman miles Morales and thps remake new, but the last two sold for 40 initially. But the last of us 2 is the only game I've purchased brand new in the past ten years

Depends on the game. If I can get it cheaper off Green Man Gaming, I would. Certain 3DS / Switch games that I am looking forward to, I may end up just buying at the full price if I cannot find the eShop cards on sale.

I don't buy games.
In 2020 I only purchased 2 games, both of them were at full price (Trails of Cold Steel 3, One Step from Eden).

I do. It depends on the game, though. If I want it, I don't mind paying full price. Though, I will buy at a sale when they have them. Our dear Mead has informed me about sales at Target twice now. And both times, I got 3 PS4 games for the price of 2... That being said, the new price is kind of shitty...

Normally no, but sometimes I'll pay full price if I'm interested in helping the developer/publisher. I bought Postal 4: No Regerts at full price and on Steam Early Access (it's not even 2/5ths complete yet) because Running With Scissors is STILL updating Postal 2 even though the game is almost 18 years old.

Some games yes, like Collector Editions, Some first party Nintendo titles, Limited run games and so on.

Big budget games I wait on, like God of War, The witcher 3 definitive edition and so on. I got God of War greatest hits version new for like $9.99 CAD, after conversion that's like free in the US,UK lol.

And then I go to my local video/games store and browse the used game section often, flea markets, ebay, Facebook market place, craigslist and so on.

I'm a Gamer/Collector/Re-Seller so I deal a lot in used games.

Just the ones I'm really excited for. Will happily pay full price for Rune Factory 5 when it gets here.

While sales can make me buy a game earlier than I might have otherwise, I don't usually make it a point to wait for a game to hit a certain price. Usually the main factor in when I buy a new game is when I finish the last game and whether or not my backlog has anything similar and as interesting as whatever new game I've got my eyes on.

I might pay for an expansion to FFXIV at full price, even the digital Collector's Edition price, but most times I'll look for a deal if there is one. It's why it took me so long to get Octopath Traveler or AC Origins on Steam.

I used to, but in the last few years it feels like games have gotten way less reliable at launch. I'll gladly pay full price for a great game, but these days I tend to hold off on new releases until the bugs and major issues are fixed, at which point they're on sale or will be shortly.

It depends for me.

If I have not bought a game in a while and something I'm really interested in comes out; I'm likely to get it at full price, not wanting to wait even longer.

Otherwise, I often have a backlog, or at least something still interesting to play, so I wait for sales.

I've bought a few games through Kickstarter/Indiegogo/etc, which is paying full price (or near full price) for a game that's not even available yet. I supported The Deer God, DEEEER Simulator, and Them's Fightin' Herds before they came out, and I've backed two other games still in development, The Kind Camomille and Lovely Overseer. I also tried to back Inherit the Earth: Sand and Shadows, but it failed to reach its fundraising goal and thus the pledge wasn't collected.

Generally, only physical Nintendo games, since both physical games and Nintendo games are slower/less reliable to decrease in price. I did buy digital copies of MHGU, Smash, and Animal Crossing at full price, the latter two because Nintendo games, and all three because I wanted them at or near launch (I was like a week late getting AC). Otherwise, I think the only game I've bought at full price in recent memory is Factorio, which isn't likely to ever get a sale (the developers have explicitly said that they want to sell the game on its own merits, rather than relying on marketing tricks like sales or $X.99 prices), and that was a combination of me really wanting the game (it quickly became one of my favourite games ever) and also respecting the fact that they respect their customers enough to not try to manipulate them with marketing. There are a few others that I've been excited enough for that I've bought them with only 10-20% sales (Untitled Goose Game, Hades), but that's still not full price.

The whole $80 thing really doesn't help, especially since tax often pushes it past $90 (15% here). I really miss when the Canadian dollar was at par (or close to it) and we paid $60.

Very rarely. Most of the time I will just wait for a price cut. I think it works out to maybe one or two games a year I will pay full price for.

I have very rarely bought games at full price. Usually don't though. Maybe 5% at full price.

Technically yes to the extent that I've sometimes bought games at full price, but also no to the extent that I generally don't. I usually either try to get them on sale or used (although I guess there's also full price for used as a technicality as well?)
