Nothing exists for any reason at all other than to have action set pieces that go on way too long while being loosely connected with poor excuses to have them. They're not perfect, but they're much more competently made than the prequels. The prequels are fun to watch, but there's nothing in the sequels that even comes close to how painful the romance dialogue is in episode II --- I write Naruto Fanfiction.
