I haven't seen a list yet but I think there's basically like 4 relics on the banner that would help me at all (Minwu USB, Relm USB, Aphmau USB, and Larsa USB) and two of those are basically superseded by Elarra's if I manage to get it. I'm going to try to save my mythril.

The big temptation through for these banners is torment 2.0 though, we're going to need at least a decent healer for the first two stages and you'll need the USB for the last one. As godlike as Elarra's USB is it won't help much in those unless you want to give buffs to a 2 million HP boss.

Yeah, that was me. It's cool he's finally getting some new stuff. The best part is it looks like his LMR comes back around (unless it's a new one) and his OSB should be obsolete so I didn't really miss anything by not taking them in the dream selection.

Is there any reason at all to keep Burning Rush when I already have Fires Within? Same question for Freezing Moon/Warring Frost when I have Hailstorm. In both cases it seems like one ability for the same element and school is just plain better. But especially for Monk where Fires Within has no downside I can see (it's ranged, heals, and has a higher multiplier even factoring in Burning Rush's crit bonus)

i think some SB or another out there has X thing happen when you get a critical hit (quick cast next ability or something) so burning rush could be useful with that.

and with hailstorm, i guess if you're already over the atk buff cap, it'll barely have any effect on your atk but will lower res, which might make a difference

There's also Crit Damage buffs, like Zack CSB which might allow Burning Rush to pull ahead.

As for the Samurai abilities, if the Retaliate is actually useful (not gonna happen, nowadays), those could actually be pretty good.

Realistically though, you might as well shatter Burning Rush and the 4 Samurai abilities. Gaia Rush can stay, because somehow the other Earth monk ability didn't get the hit-count buff.

I'm up to 8 kills and I've still yet to get a Fire Resist Magicite. 5 Krakens and 4 Octomamms though.

You don't use drop trackers like Kreeper or Kompanion? I didn't use to either but magicite certainly convinced me to because of RNG being a bitch and having to wait on keystones refreshing.

I have been trying to get all the worthwhile 3* Magicites to 99 before I go hard on the 4* ones.

I have beaten Fenrir like 20 times, still only 3/4 on getting the Fenrir drop. So annoying.

The ones I have up to 99 now are

Liquid Flame
Wendigo
Sealion
Bismarck
Enki
Hydra
Enlil
Enkidu

Just gotta finish Fenrir then it's off to Golem and Shell Dragon, then Holy and Dark before finally 4 star time.

I'd say if you're going minimalist you only really want Mom Bomb, Wendigo, Hydra, Shell Dragon, Enkidu, and Shadow Dragon. Most of the rest are niche uses that in many cases Enkidu will help almost as much for.

Might be at least worth seeing if you can limp through a 4* to break in before going quite so hard on 3*, then double back to 3* if you find you need some tool from it.

But I've got some use out of Bismarck at least in clearing Marilis so far (though I'm going to be using Kraken from now on) so some of the ones not listed might be useful, but you can always come back and retrieve them if so. I'm just saying you may want to at least try other magicite before overpreparing on 3*.

Yeah I sorta get it.

I had that idea-- was even leveling 1* and 2* to start-- but then I realized I was never using any of them but a few and these things take 800 years to level, and long term they're worthless in skill inheritance to boot.

RoP got me Aranea OSB, solid to pair with the USB I just got. The Acolyte draws got me:

Ashe SB (useful stat stick for XII)
Tyro SG (dupe)
Bartz SB (wind boost armor and en-wind, this already proved useful on the Ancient Foes event)
Tidus SSB (useless)
Firion SSB (armor which is helpful)
Orlandu SSB (useless)
Refia BSB (good)

I'm blocked from book VIII and IX since when it opened I had not done any mote dungeons (now I only have Bravery left). Lastly, I was planning on skipping the Buff and Healing draws but there are still a few realms I have neither a medica nor hastega/boostga so it might be worth a shot

I've been thinking about Celes's USB and it seems really underhyped for some reason. Orlandu's USB was super hyped, but that one only provides good coverage in 3 elements - Celes's is almost the same thing with coverage in 6 elements. I'm super glad I got both of them, hope I can get Vivi's soon too.

Orlandeau is Orlandeau though, he's one of the most popular characters in the game. Celes really dropped in popularity when Runic started to become useless with all the NAT attacks now (and one of the few fights where Runic can shine nowadays is Siren and Celes doesn't have strong dark options.) She also always had that lack of Lifesiphon/wrath problem.

FF13 is up, 1/3 Snow Burst. Well it's ice boosting armor on the physical side so that's not too bad.

1/3 Lightning OSB. i thought about picking that for free last fest so that's cool to get. her glint makes for a better en-lightning into OSB combo than Kain's BSB, at least, and i'd be more inclined to dive her than Kain (though not sure it's better than just using the Thunder God that i just got)

i skipped XIV so i'm 2/2 on discos now. both being lightning OSBs. i guess i can expect Ashe and Raijin's OSBs coming up.

I think pretty much everything in this game not on a "meta" character is underhyped. Like if someone does something really well and someone does it just a bit better, the character who is very slightly outclassed will get zero hype even if they're totally viable if you get their stuff. Like I feel like Celes is almost as good as Bartz or Orlandu as a DPS if you get her stuff but gets 1/10 the hype. All the focus gets put on what her Runic does or doesn't work on because that's her unique niche. Never mind that Runic is actually pretty good for a lot of magicite fights even. Like you can't get 100% absorption against any of them but most of them have a few magic attacks.

i did some calcs and Celes USB comes out slightly better than Squall's BSB, but only if you have her LMR and Xezat's USB (since she benefits more from an ice boost and the other ice boost sword is Squall's AOSB, which would put him ahead). so that's pretty good, though she's significantly worse at the other 4 elements until the new 6* spellblades come out.

and i think Celes at the moment is better than Bartz unless you entrust him to get off both the USB and a BSB quickly. of course that goes out the window next V event.

I'm a little mad about the update to these torment. Like I feel like I have a lot of really good stuff on this game and I dont feel like I'm a match for these 4* magicite and you are adding fights that are harder than that? There has to be an extremely small percentage of players that this will be useful for.

And then to add onto that there is very finite amount of materials for things to. Like there is no where to get 5* motes. And if you have done a lot of pulls to this point or have beaten all the dungeons already there is very little opportunity to get more mythril. So to get the things that you so called need is very frustrating to do. Like I dont have one of these stupid entruster teams apparently that is like mandatory for these hard dungeons.
