The difference between overwatch, botw, odessesy, etc and undertale is that most people (or at least more people) have a pc that can run undertale whereas not every has a switch/wii u or a good gaming pc. Thus making undertale more widespread a readily available.

Nothing has got such overwhelming hype as Undertale has since that came out. At least nothing comes to mind. Some big games, but nothing like that really....which is fine because Undertale was overhyped IMO. Great game, but doesn't need that much crazy hype.

Bulletstorm Full Clip Edition was praised for having only 1 DLC, but that DLC is good because Duke Nukem.
Game is also a blast from what I hear.
Killing Floor 2 also, all DLC free, and the game is great.

Well, for this site in particular it was the first thing to win Best Game Ever outside of FFVII or Ocarina of Time so that's a thing. When it came out it was getting praised in the highest terms possible from a lot of places.

Eventually I played it and while it was definitely really solid I was hugely let down from expectations. Everyone talked up how cool it was you could do a pacifist run and when I played I realized that was the default option. Killing anything makes you an asshole in that game. The dating system is actually required for the real ending so it's not like there's any particular choice about who you would date. It's just a lot more guided and shallow than people were acting like it was. It deserves credit for being a mirror version of the standard RPG offering but it's a mirror version of a totally bog standard RPG.

Dude, it's not a reference when you just literally quote the lines with no alterations and at no point give any context by which people would know it's a reference to something. That's the definition of plagiarism and I learned that when I was like 10 years old.

Because it was rigged, rather than being there due to any merit. Even if you assumed no rigging happened, it was still heavily brigaded often by non-gamers -- the Anita Sark-ies of the world -- promoting the game for its LBGT-friendly qualities.

Dokidoki literature club is I think the 15th highest rated game on steam right now, came out about a month ago and was made by some people who worked on Project M or something so that's a pretty huge leap in popularity. Think it's a visual novel though so that might not be considered a game.

Good! I won't play over hyped games. It is why I'll never try Undertail now.

BotW and Stardew Valley both come to mind.

The BotW DLC came out today but I still haven't played it because I'm too busy with Stardew Valley. I keep telling myself "okay, one more day in game", but I can't put it down.

I'm basically three trophies away from platinum-ing the game, although I won't, because of Journey of the Prairie King. Fuck that game. Fuck it so very hard.
