I'm not sure what Microsoft is doing with the Xbox One X. I don't know how long they plan to support the console. The hardware is strong but where are the games?

I maybe understand not having any games ready to show off at E3, but to go to Gamescon, where Sony didn't even show up, and you announce zero games for your value new hardware?

If you're in the market for a console and gor some reason yiu dont wsnt a PS4 I mihhtbtell you to look at a Switch instead of an Xbox.

To top it off, I was skimming through the horrendous recommendations on Youtube, and one video was apparently some idiot trying to defend one of the Xbox consoles and saying that it's still good despite the lack of games.

Consoles. Need. Games.

This rule should be absolute in gaming. It's why I shake my head whenever people buy a system before a library is actually out for it. *Glares at the Switch*

And it's why I refuse to personally buy a system until at least three or four exclusives are out for it that interest me. Not announced, not bound to come out on another system in a few months anyways. Exclusives, to my preferences, that are out.

Thanks to how BotW played out, that has increased--at least for the Switch's sake--to four exclusives, not counting ANY Mario games (which can be added later if they're good enough). If that threshold is not met, but a game comes out I really want to play? I'll just try to talk my boyfriend into letting me play it on his system.

Still refuse to watch Iron Fist.

Still pissed off that they refuse to give Iron Fist a mask, even though he's arguably the one who MOST needs to hide his fucking identity. I mean, the mask Daredevil was wearing for most of Season 1 was pretty much exactly the same thing that Iron Fist wears in the comic but with no eye-holes.

But it's Relic, and they don't do awful stuff, normally.

This isn't Microsoft pooping on an old series, like they did with Roller Coaster Tycoon.

Hopefully. Oh god I hope. Please don't mess this up, I need more RTSs, nobody makes then anymore.

I have no experience with Relic, I know they did the Warhammer games. Saw some people in comments bitching they screwed up some game, so dunno. Age of Empires is a game that I grew up with, and I've always considered "my" series, more so than Zelda or anything else. I've met some of my best friends bonding over the game, for shit's sake. I owe the series for my love and knowledge of history, so Age 4 being a thing excites me greatly. It saddens me that Ensemble isn't around to handle it, though.

I feel you on the RTS tho. Ironclad updated the hell out of Sins of a Solar Empire, but have been quiet about it lately.

I'm the same way, I remember spending hours playing with my family over LAN. We were all awful, but it was a whole bunch of fun and I love the series.

I sort of glaze over when 40k fans complain about things because, well, like most fandoms, they like to complain. They did make Company of Heroes, so it's not a knock against them. I am curious about the art style, but that's really it. I just want to see all of the different countries doing stuff, but that's secondary.

The Age series is one of the big grand-daddies of RTS, and introduced a slower, more long-term planning element to the genre, in contrast to micro-input RTS play. It's also known for it's focus on historical context and pre-dated Star Craft by a year. So it's pretty cool to see a storied franchise get a second shot at life.

Damn it, I keep coming in here to talk about how Nintendo screwed up the SNES Classic Edition preorders.

Those idiots did preorders in the middle of the night, with no warning, and it was just a mess.

For example, Best Buy said that they didn't have stores within a 250 mile radius of anywhere. How in the hell is that possible when if you walk a block in any direction you run into a bloody Beat Buy?

Also, once again there weren't enough preorders available for the regular people and the scalpers too.

Is it really that hard to limit preorders to one per email or one per ISP? Anyway, another mess.

Fool me once...

Seriously, this was 100% to be expected. "Significantly more units this time" actually means two extra units per store, which when you think about it, is actually quite significant. It's still nowhere near enough to meet demand, but when has Nintendo ever cared about consumers?

Best to just wait for these things to flood the wild and hope you wind up at the right place at the right time, with all the stars aligned and the blood moon in sight, and you stumble across a lonesome unit locked behind a display case at Walmart at 11pm.

Somehow "inspiring" sounds a lot less alarmist or SJW. The entire term cultural appropriation is silly.

The thing is, the phrase itself is perfectly fine and functionally appropriate. The real problem comes from the context it's generally used it, and by the repugnant sort of people who use it.

I don't see any merits to the phrase, especially considering that it's racist and misguided. A lot of so-called appropriators understand the culture better than its alleged participants. As such, there's probably a better way of conveying the main complaint (ie, the treatment of the cultural idea or practice)

I figured that at least one of them would die, but I didn't expect it to happen the way that it did.

TBH in general, I don't care that much about spoilers. I try to avoid them if I can, but the journey is more important to me. However, when I see someone who is obviously trying to ruin things for other people, I can't help but think they're an asshole.

My basic assumption was that, no matter what, we'd *have* to see an ice dragon, whether it was a reanimated Dany dragon or another long-dead one, because the concept is too cool to ignore and it makes for a more dramatic confrontation.

Hah, I remember that when it happened. It was on the Garden State Parkway not that far up the road from where I lived as a kid.

In retrospect, it's kind of odd that they were in the car together in the first place, considering kayfabe being what it was at the time, wrestlers from opposite sides of the heel/face divide weren't even supposed to share the same locker room in areas to help facilitate the idea that they didn't get along. You'd think someone would have discouraged them from riding together.

Personally, the thing I find most annoying about him was killing Coulson off in The Avengers, because killing off characters is the only way he knows how to ramp up tension. Then deliberately helping to bring him back on the TV show that he produces and his brother and sister-in-law are in charge of, while simultaneously badmouthing the idea of bringing Coulson back even though it was his idea in the first place.

#5 is something that always bothered me. My issue with the women-kicking-ass thing as seeming to lack any credibility has largely been a matter of size; ironically, it's something that gets called out when small guys are doing it but people cry sexism when small women are criticized. Honestly, unless they're a magical being, a bad-ass fighter chick should be larger and buffer than a lot of guys because size means greater reach and musculature greater strength. Again, it's something we're quick to recognize with guys but slow to apply the same to women.

Joined my first big Pokemon Go group raid today after I stumbled on a group readying for Lugia (when going for something else in the area). The Raid fight went well since it was a good-sized group (15 people?) but only had 6 raid balls as a reward and completely botched 5 of my 6 throws with my first throw being the only one which connected at all. idk, hopefully I'll get lucky on that shit sooner or later. Really just care about Mewtwo.

Also, for the wrestling fans, caught a clip of Jim Cornette discussing this hilarious indie elbow botch (pictured happening in same video). That shit is just perfect.

Whedon does like his tiny, cutesy, innocent, naive, nerd girls. I mean it's clear that the women he cast in major and minor roles all have a type. There is not even a need for a list at this point.

As for his Twitter tirades.... Whedon strikes me as the kind of person that doesn't like or take criticism too well. Kind of like late 90's to modern George Lucas.

Whedon feels like he is so far above critique that every decision he feels he makes is perfect and should not be challenged. Especially by his coworkers or the fans.

Makes you wonder what tiny, cutesy, innocent, naive, nerd girl, redhead he is going to cast as Batgirl?

I'm finally getting around to watching "Elementary." I'm liking it more than BBC's "Sherlock," because the former from CBS actually seems like it uses its brain instead of its ego and tries to produce means for you to follow the clues and figure out some of it yourself. You know, like a mystery is supposed to do.

I just don't think Felicia Day can pull it off, lol.

Also my biggest complaint with Sherlock. However, Elementary has no Benedict Cumberbatch so....

To be fair, whoever it is, BTB and I will likely approve.

And if nothing else, presenting "strong female leads who don't need no man" and then "emasculating" (efeminating? disempowering? ehh, whatever, you know what I mean) them while still pretending they've got all the power is sort of one of his things, so if nothing else his influence might eventually lead to a Batgirl/Killing Joke/Oracle sort of storyline, where she's crippled yet shows that she's still a badass and in control of her life (girl power, rah rah!). And Oracle is by far the superior Barbara Gordon interpretation, so I'm 110% in favor.

Odd, I'm only JUST NOW watching Sherlock for the first time, and while I like it so far, it indeed doesn't really allow you to participate in the mystery. It seems to be more focused on the acting and character drama, which is honestly a bit ho-hum. Really, the best mystery show, as in one that makes you speculate yourself and look for clues that I've seen the last few years has been Westworld.

Insomnia kicked in tonight and I was looking around on Netflix and not only is every episode of every season of Power Rangers is on there, but so is VR Troopers.

I think only P.O. and I care about VR Troopers, but I was excited and Scarlett was like WTF is that?

She had me stop after she heard the theme song.

"We Are VR!"

Alas, no Thundercats or Batman Beyond on Nwtflix though. So it's not perfect.

On the contrary, I enjoyed that show as a kid and wished Saban had more footage to work with to make even another half of a season more properly. I still remember a Christmas episode either at the end or near it that basically went "Oh everything's fine now!" regarding the main character's father.

Furthermore, all episodes and seasons of Power Rangers is on Netflix too. Along with He Man and She Ra.

I think She Re was my first crush as a kid, or at least my first impure male female thought. I just thought she was hot.

No Bionic Six or Disney afternoon cartoons are on Netflix either. (Darkwing Duck, Talesoin, Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers, Ducktales.)

Nice job remembering VR Troopers too Entity.

Coming up on another topic closure. Have you done "The Geek Shall Inherit the Earth" as a title yet?

Given how often I've praised VR Troopers for what it was -- a hilariously bad attempt to cash in on the super sentei fad -- I'm surprised you could think that. Honestly, out of *all* the super sentei shows, its campy formulaic style gives it the most staying power due to the huge amount of unintentional humor and the apparent nature of what they did to make the show. (Plus the *only* sentei theme song that came close to being on par with VR Troopers was maybe Beetleborgs')

At any rate, I'm equally shocked that NFI has the full PR franchise there since it was *always* missing at least some of the early seasons when I checked. I'm strongly tempted to go back and watch Space because, between Turbo and changing interests, I didn't catch much of its original run.

Yeah, but no New Adventures (which was far better than the original) and it's lacking the 2002 series.
