Yikes gang the Show Curse reared its ugly head last night in a big way- not with making bad predictions, just with finding a guest! Luckily things worked out in the end and we were able to track down one of our favorite B8ers, break down SB's recent struggles, announce a mindblowing Show exclusive about a new way to get involved with the Contest on B8, and cover the exciting South half of the bracket. Technical difficulties update: volume levels were more even this week, yo is a little crackly at the start but don't worry that goes away after the opening minutes. The crazy thing though, and I don't even know how this is possible... we hit a time warp halfway through the show that moved Leon and yoblazer 3 seconds forward in time compared to me. It's fine overall, the result is just that they both sound VERY RUDE because they keep cutting me off just as I start to throw to them, but rest assured both were perfect gentlemen in real time!

We've been meaning to talk about Breath of the Wild in depth (spoiler free though as I'm only 60 hours in myself) but we keep running out of time. As soon as we have less to talk about and complete a shorter episode we'll dive into it as the last part of an EP. So stay tuned!

Biggest takeaway from Ep 2: Yoblazer is flat-topping or otherwise distorted.

A bit late, but I'm disappointed with just one aspect of the bracket: giving years from 2010-2016 very little shot at winning (except for lol rallies). Only 2013 seems to have a small shot. It would have been nice for some of those to play each other. Maybe one of those vs. 1988/89 would have been interesting.

The Switch being a console/handheld hybrid is a good thing for the strength of those games. Portable games have generally been third class games on this site behind console games and then PC games. Having future portable games on what can also be used as a console should boost their strength.

Most importantly, this is a game changer for Pokemon where all of the main games have been on portable systems up to this point. A mainline Pokemon game on an actual console is the push it needs to finally win GotY on this site. Pokemon X/Y and Pokemon Sun/Moon both came fairly close to winning GotY, but fell just a little bit short.

The "wait for the kiddies to wake up" in the Spyro/Morrigan match did happen, but it was when they were coming home from school. The concept of the younger voters strongly favoring a specific entrant turned to be real, but we simply mispredicted what time of the day it would happen.

12:00 AM EST on May 2nd. This section of the contest rules makes it very clear:

The Best Year in Gaming Bracket Challenge (the "Contest") begins on April 14, 2017, and closes May 22, 2017. The entry period for the Contest begins on April 14, 2017, and closes on May 1, 2017 at 4:59:59 PM Pacific Daylight Time ("PT"). The Contest will be played in the form of battles presented in bracket format. There will be thirty-five (35) battles in total. The first battles begin on May 1, 2017 at 9PM PT.

I just discovered that a yellow site alert shows up for registered users who haven't filled out a bracket and didn't hide the site alert yet. The blue site alert only appears for site visitors who aren't logged into an account.
