Smiles and Tears and the Xenoblade one are actually good, and Reach for the Moon is tolerable, but I really don't like the other 3 today at all. Smiles and Tears > Sylvalum (Night) > Reach for the Moon > Seymour Battle > Mount Vesuvius > Brickworks --- I guess DpObliVion gets to be in my sig now. Even after also factoring in the fact that I, like plenty of others, do not like the HD version as much as the original (seriously, why is it in?). Second match also reasonably easy. Not THAT big a fan of this XCX song since it was only really had me interested for about half a minute, but it's still more than enough to win my favour over... well, you know. Seymour Battle is easily my favorite FFX song (though I'm not really a fan of any of the others), but Brickworks is such a cool new find. It almost sounds like something from one of the Streets of Rage games. RftM is actually my favorite song today, but I have zero expectations that it will make it past round 2, if it even makes it that far. But hey, tradition is tradition. Kinda agree with Mycro on Sylvalum in that it has nice instrumentation but bland composition (it's a cool song I guess). Smiles and Tears is a song that would probably have a bigger impact on me if I had actually played Earthbound. Still, a neat calming song that gets really good towards the outro (kinda slow in the beginning though). I do like that little vocal sample they threw in there. I've always been a fan of Jake Kaufman's works, despite not liking indie faux-chiptune music in general (him, SoulEye, and flashygoodness are the only real exceptions).
