also is it just me or does the game run significantly less smoothly post-patch? i'd just check the fps counter but it's bugged and displays a constant 0 fps
I think Affix's are a great creative way to keep things difficult and interesting. I'm already sick to death of the abilities the Skeleton King, the Butcher, and Siegebreaker throw at me after doing them so many times, but every time I find a champ pack (that I don't outgear aka act 1), it's a new set of abilities that I have to figure out how to beat.

Well my games resolution changed during the patch so it looked really ugly. But it seems to be running fine for me.
But yeah FPS counter being bugged is annoying. I have it turned on pretty much constantly to gauge how my computer is handling things.
I don't like abilities that make the monster irrelevant
So molten and fire chains basically. A monster's AI doesn't actually matter there if those abilities are paired with other cc affixes. A monster's attacks don't even matter cause they'll just kill you with the chains/molten trails.
Descrator and plagued too if they were more relevant.
Anyway yeah I dunno how I feel about playing this game now. I really don't like blizzard trying to control what we farm. Why not just make Nephalem's valor lose a stack whenever you change a piece of gear or something if people swapping into mf gear before opening a chest was a problem?
-- No problem! This is a cute and pop genocide of love!
okay, drop rate buffs don't seem quite sufficient - i've been through over 150 yellows so far today and god knows how many blues and haven't found anything decent (and 10 of my 13 gear pieces are below item level 61 with a bunch below item level 55, even, so it's not like there's not much room for improvement). i'm just trying to get back to my pre-patch stats and haven't been able to so far.
Eh, farming act 1 seemed fairly successful for me today. Even excluding the level 55 legendary shield (which I expect will turn 7-10 bucks on the RMAH when I have a slot) I got a good amount of 62 and 63 gear.
Yeah most of my rolls on them were crappy, but that is always the case. It is the nature of rolling for stats.
I did however pick up maybe 10 or so items that I think are worth going on the AH.
And in addition to those items I probably also farmed about 90 or 100 infernal level dust which got sold for 2 to 2.1k each. Even when you aren't finding upgrades for yourself every crappy level 60 you roll is still an extra 2k in the bank just from the salvage dusts. I could have a week of runs where I find absolutely nothing to put on myself and through a combination of salvage dusts and the occasional piece of gear that will sell for at least 10k I'll still get enough to afford something I really want.
But yeah I kind of still really hate them forcing all chests to be completely worthless.
Why call them RESPLENDENT chests if they are full of CRAP?
Btw for those of you running act 1I noticed today that one of the Eventss you get in the crypts in the cemetary seems to drop much better loot that it is supposed to. I haven't done Jar of Souls yet since the patch, but twice now I have done the other quest where you have to collect the woman's remains and then you click the sarcophagus afterwards to collect your reward. Well as far as I can tell when you click the sarcophagus it counts as cashing in an elite pack. You don't reset your valor stack timer, but I have gotten 3 rares each time I did it. Red got 2 rares and Shoe got 1. It is cashing out MUCH better than events are supposed to.
It gave pretty good loot even before, but my assumption at the time was that cashing in the quest was equivalent to opening a Resplendent Chest, but that no longer seems to be the case since the RChests are all terrible. It honestly feels like I'm getting the +1 Rare for cashing in the quest with 5 valor stacks. I can't think of any reason why I would have gotten 3 rares both times I cashed it in, I never got quite so much before. And that's with 5 stacks and no MF gear. Next time I turn that quest in I'm going to put MF gear on first and see how it reacts to 300+% magic find.
So yeah if you're running act 1 keep your eye out for that event. It's done all right by me so far.
I have no idea why Blizzard is trying so hard to control what people farm.
Because the entire game is built around the RMAH. Called that crap ruining Diablo 3 months ago, and as usual I am right.
It wouldn't be so bad except that Blizzard is going to keep trying to balance the game around botters/CGFs. They wanted vases and chests and goblins to be farmable until it became the optimized manner for those types of people.
This is one if the big shifts in Blizzard's mentality - we've talked about the SoJ thing from D2 before. In D2 they just realized it was part of the game, so they designed game elements around it. Well, a game element, anyway. And before that, they could just have bloodbaths for hackers and dupers/dupes. With the RMAH, they can't wait 6 months to do a quick little query on items and accounts, they have to try and keep up with things.

By the way, have you played the game at all since the last 40 hours or so? Everyone on my friends list is listed as offline for 1-2 days, and I can't access anybody's profile. I was wondering whether this was a bug or not...
Same question to you, foolmo.

I personally witnessed an incident where a player found a yellow item, and when they identified it, it had stats that could be exploited to increase their combat effectiveness - for the class they were playing at the time.

from my experience butcher and diablo do the same damage as before. dunno about the others.
speaking of which: solo inferno complete yessss. no auction house use, no grinding (okay i ran act 1 like 4 times the past couple days but that was only to get back to my pre-patch stats). diablo phase 3 actually went down on the first try but it took like...over 20 minutes because i was so nervous and wanted to be absolutely sure i didn't screw up. stayed the hell away from him.
final (unbuffed) stats: 19000 damage, 37000 hp, 2300 armor, 250 resist all. yeahhhh ---
Hard to say, health is a very misleading number. You can have 40k and die immediately to everything or have 20k and be very tanky, with how effective life modifiers from talents, resists, and armour work.
My effective health on my Witch Doctor is about 170k (actual health is around 35k) and act 1 is a joke damage wise, but I still get slapped around in acts 3-4.

Beat Act 1 Inferno last night. Not too hard, but that isn't news to anyone. Butcher fight was a little annoying since I kept messing up. I could easily tear into him with marked for death + impulse, but his wide chain attack 1-hits me and I kept getting caught by it. I'm pretty sure I got him in under or at least around a minute when I finally beat him.

You beat yourself up with your past. Don't blame yourself, blame the world. Blame God. Blame me.
HGR just had a super farming run of inferno act 1 o_O
I landed a chest upgrade, and an amulet partial upgrade pretty early on which had me super stoked. And then picked up a legendary mace and a green set of pants within about a minute of each just before the warden. Definitely my strongest run of act 1 so far. The mace was worthless and got salvaged, but I sold the brimstone for 75k which is more than mace would have earned, but the pants will go on the RMAH as soon as a slot frees up (in 3 hours).
HGR only left with a handful of things to potentially sell I believe, but most notably among them (afaik) was a quiver that could easily sell for the 2.4M gold he listed it for.
Took my three hours to get Staff of Herding argh. Liquid Rainbow took forever, the cave spawned like 5 times before I finally got the Mysterious Chest to spawn.
yeah got lucky and rolled a quiver with: 15% attack speed, 150 dex, 50 vit, 8% crit chance, 200 life regen. i now have 6 times as much money as i've ever had before. this auction house thing is pretty crazy.
