I meant with the exact same title

Like are there more different Aquaman #1s or Wolverine #1s?

Aquaman is 8. Green Arrow is 7. Wolverine is 6. Legion of Super-Heroes is technically 7, but 2 were minis.

If you toss in team up books AND Limited runs its EASILY Wolverine at this point

I think it's generally accepted that for most #1s, it has to be an ongoing series and considered the "main" title for the character. Otherwise the actual answer will forever be Batman.

I wonder which title has the most #1s

Aquaman has had 8 series over the last 75 years; the problem is that he never sold super-well, so his title would constantly last 50-75 issues and get restarted.

I'm not particularly jazzed by this creative line-up they have running at Marvel, but at the same time, I don't think there is any freelance talent that would fit in with Marvel out there at the moment.

I don't think Gerard Way fits in with DC but they found a way to make it work.

Now they have this entire Young Animal/Mainstream DC crossover going on right now that people are pretty into. If Marvel isn't attracting hot young talent then they need to change whatever they can to make it more worthwhile to sign a contract with them.

Oh, I disagree with that. Gerard Way is exactly what Neil Gaiman was 30 years ago. Or Grant Morrison. Gerard Way is pretty much a pitch-perfect choice to launch a new acid trip of an imprint and try to cater to the more trippy side of the company. It's Doom Patrol, after all.

I'm thinking more along the lines of this - there are no franchises in Marvel that aren't completely commercialized and written by committee anymore, and that's why Gerard Way fit in at DC - he was given the chance to do his thing. Tom King gets to do his thing in Batman, Snyder is becoming an ad hoc editor himself at this point... that's the kind of writer-first mentality that keeps creative minds interested in showing up.

Twice for DC.

A lot of times for Marvel.

Hey hey hey, major character deaths were already temporary prior to this! Blame Crisis. We killed Wonder Woman and immediately rebooted her! I kind of wonder where variants actually started; DoS did push the special variant, but I think it was a good concept in that specific practice and became perverted to greedy ends later.

I think the desire to duplicate the success of DoS is where you can start to really blame the practice.

I've always wished that TIE Fighter would get remade. It has a great story and a surprising amount of depth for a game its age, and I think an expansion of the player hub and some more emphasis on the secret Order storyline would just make this game click in an amazing way. Also, graphically it's become so outdated.

Not quite the same, but there's total conversion mod for X-Wing Alliance that imports all the TIE Fighter missions, and various graphical upgrades that make it and XWA look better. Still far from 'modern spectacular', but a decent improvement over the original's looks.

There's also a Star Wars TC for Freespace 2 in the works, which looks incredible and might be able to have XW/TF missions converted to it.

Oh that's pretty neat. I'll have to check out the progress on that.

Let's ignore the fact that this is actually another poster for Atlas Shrugged II, and not actually the original Atlas Shrugged. I think it's pretty hard for the Atlas statue to look bad, and this globe-lifting Oscar looks incredible here, I'm liking the way the way the sun glints off the gold, with the darker coloring of the clouds making Atlas stand out like some sort of epic hero. I enjoy the way the globe envelopes around the poster, it gives it weight and presence. This is a pretty well designed poster for what it goes for, but ultimately there's just better posters and covers out there!

Wow, this is the first review that I really disagree with! I think you're being way too generous to this cover. It feels like such a slapdash image with terrible composition and no artistic effort.

Also what do you think of the American box art for Illusion of Gaia?

Disney's Tarzan (film, not character) from a visual perspective

Rating: 85/100

Interesting nomination. I've always thought that the jungle is one of the best-rendered settings in Disney history. It feels sprawling, wild, unpredictable. It's exactly what it needed to be. I think Jane and Tarzan are both nailed from a design standpoint, and everything else is at least decently designed. Tarzan is what I would call the last of the Renaissance, but it feels like everything they had learned on the drawing boards for the other films shows up here.

There are some great shorts in some of those films (Fantasia is the classic example), but too many misses and not enough hits. I wish Fantasia had actually been executed as originally intended because in that instance the less desirable package films we got would likely have not existed or been altered in a positive way.

Darth Vader

Rating: 55/100

Not a big Vader fan. He was an interesting villain in the original trilogy, best in the middle parts of Empire where his very presence commands so much fear (both in a serious and comedic sense). But the entire Anakin saga makes me view Vader in a much less enigmatic and almost mythological light than my initial OT watchthroughs. He's just a guy, and not even a very interesting or intelligent one. Anakin is much more palatable in the animated show, but it's weird - I don't really see that Anakin as the same character as in the films, so he doesn't really rub off on the stain to Vader that is the prequel series.

Also, Vader is not a different person than Anakin.

Will Ferrell's performance in Anchorman

Rating: 60/100

I think this is probably the best Will Ferrell comedy performance (aside from his more off-beat stuff like Stranger Than Fiction). Since I was young, I always said that Ferrell's form of comedy was just about shouting bizarre things and expecting a laugh. There's a lot less of that here in Anchorman. But, honestly, what makes Anchorman enjoyable is the script. That probably sounds like an odd statement to make, but that script hides Ferrell's general flaws as a comedian and actually allows him to play a character for once.
