My point being that you can see the potential there for something denser but youre stuck with WWE writers who cant realize it.

This is because they want to TV writers to write wrestling instead of having a wrestler work with writers to flesh out a story. And let's not forget, the TV writers that apply for WWE jobs are generally the worst writers for television. You need a strong voice and visionary to work with a veteran booker (like a Heyman or a Vince or even a Dusty type) in order to understand booking. Then that voice can reinterpret the concept of wrestling and inject nuance. You also need to end the Kevin Dunn setup. He has become lax and lazy. Storytelling on television requires a fresh eye that will allow unique forms of pacing for narrative. The slow and glacial pace is determined by the setup for filming, and that is a major issue here.

And also... you can't play themes as much. You need to cut that to only major moments and entrances for matches. It will feel more organic and give you 6-7 minutes of the show back to inject a little more nuance to other segments.

I really have a lot of strong thoughts on how WWE positions itself terribly to tell great stories.

There are some later episodes that are much less compelling and endearing than the first couple of seasons, but that's the danger of changing the basic conceit of the show over time. Those first couple of seasons, those moments of being almost completely stranded in space, a species on the verge of extinction, are just really really riveting.

The mediocrity of Starship Troopers

Rating: 30/100

You didn't specify whether you meant the movie or the book, but in any situation, mediocrity is by definition mediocre. Therefore anything I found mediocre in either the film or novel would by definition score at least relatively poorly and be compounded by the fact that the good parts of the novel aren't balancing out those mediocre parts.

Barack Obama's presidency

Rating:70/100

It's fine. He really didn't do much of substantive value. He kept his actions minimalistic in terms of economic impact, and that really did wonders for the American dollar. I feel like he generally pushed an agenda based on overwhelming groundswell which means that there wasn't a lot of ledge-walking chance taken in his administration, which is good. However, that also meant he didn't have a real piece of legislation that defines his administration.

Also, I don't think you get to say you're "fixing a game" if you are destroying the integrity of the plot and characters and world the creators built. You can make suggestions on how to alter pacing, flow, dialogue, etc. But you are going past "fixing" if you just remove characters altogether.

but what if the plot and characters are really bad

FFVIII is just a terrible romance with lame teens and a batshit insane storyline. If you try to retain and improve on those elements, you just get FFX!

So there's my answer, just make it FFX.

You actually don't. But it is interesting to see what people on the board have no sense of storytelling.

I mean, we really don't. She could conceivably do a great job merging her style with wrestling. Kendrick and Natalya are capable teachers, and she might have picked up a lot over the last 6 months. Hell, outside of a boring Stephanie storyline (which isn't on Ronda), she could have some compelling feuds with women in the division.

I don't like to dismiss something before it's come to pass. I thought the Blue Chipper was a total fool and the Ringmaster looked like a generic Create-a-Wrestler, but I was wrong.
