Right now you can only use SMS or MMS if communicating between Android & iPhone unless you're using something like WhatsApp.

So this SHOULD solve the issue where an android sends a video to an iPhone and it ends up looking like a JAV porn mosaic and support other kinds of end to end encryption.

This is not Apple opening up iMessage to other platforms. Instead, its the company adopting RCS separately from iMessage.

I don't see an issue there, if they wanna support both rather than solely using the standard. It's basically the software equivalent of if they were to respond to mandatory USB-C by including both USB-C and Lightning instead of just outright replacing Lightning.

Apple with a lot of egg on their face here. Wasn't Tim Cook the one who responded that you should "buy your mom an iPhone?"

Anybody with sense knew that this messaging debacle was an Apple problem and it was theirs to fix. Google was right all along.

Can't wait for this as I'm on Galaxy and everyone in my circle uses an iPhone. Apple can keep iMessage - I don't need that ****.

Yeah maybe in the few places where people use that, I use LINE and WhatsApp with other iPhone users. Thats not just because thats what used here but also because our iPhones dont recognize eachother as iPhones and we get green bubbles and less functionality.
