Probably the same reason that

* Italians get annoyed when you break long pasta before cooking it
* Asians get annoyed if you cook rice in a ton of water then drain the excess
* Mexicans get annoyed when you add sour cream, shredded cheese, and black olives to everything
* Brits get annoyed when you season anything

Don't forget Germany literally regulating what can go in beer and Scotland/France demanding that you can't call it scotch or champagne unless it's from their land.

Record labels creating an image for their artists and pushing them?

That would be their job. It's not a conspiracy.

So the label only backed her after she had achieved 60,000 downloads?

Sounds to me like she got there on her own.

No, they backed her when they signed her and then worked with her to get her music recorded, mixed, produced, and released on SoundCloud while pretending she was acting independently. Like... they literally shaped her career up until that point:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Love_Club_EP
Lorde was discovered by A&R representative Scott MacLachlan of Universal Music Group (UMG) at the age of 12, when MacLachlan saw footage of Lorde performing at a school talent show in Auckland, New Zealand. At the age of 13, Lorde started writing songs herself. MacLachlan unsuccessfully tried to set up Lorde with several songwriters and producers to help her with production.[3] Ultimately, he paired Lorde with Joel Little in December 2011, when she had just turned 15. Little was impressed by Lorde's vocal performance and songwriting abilities, and he built songs with musical structures based on Lorde's lyrics

They spent 3 years pairing her up with different industry professionals until they found a fit, then they recorded the EP, then they let her release it on SoundCloud.

What does "industry plant" even mean? Her fans aren't being forced to but her music or go to her concerts. Clearly she puts out a product the fans enjoy.

IIRC it usually means a well connected and/or rich artist who is being propped up by labels as a nobody discovered at random, continuing to push the narrative that anyone can be a star, when in reality said individual was already well connected in industry and not actually "discovered."

EDIT: I dunno how legit these are, but here are some examples
https://lipstiq.com/208361/singers-you-didnt-know-are-industry-plants/
The New Zealand born singer-songwriter, Lorde, was accused of being an industry plant when fans discovered that she had already signed to Universal Music Group when her EP The Love Club was released for free on the music streaming platform, SoundCloud. It was said that the record executives felt confident pushing ahead with an official release when it was downloaded over 60,000 times. Her fame was disguised as organic growth with a strong underdog narrative while in reality, she was backed by a massive label.

My knowledge of boxing as an industry is pretty superficial, so correct me if I'm wrong, but IMO boxing's biggest problem is champions having freedom to carefully pick and choose their opponents in pursuit of a perfect record. Until belt holders are required to take on challenges in the same weight class based on tournament performance or something then I don't think Boxing can recover.

To put it a different way: she deserves her fame, but I bet there's a thousand girls more talented who will never even get the chance because they don't have a family rich enough to move to Nashville or connected enough to open doors for her, nor rich enough to buy a large stake in the label that eventually signed her.

Unless people are proposing the US or the EU get involved in the middle east (again), the most you're going to get from this is a sternly worded letter from the UN that doesn't propose any solutions and will be promptly ignored.

Either outside countries enforce rule of law, or we have to accept that these countries are going to do whatever they want. You can't have both. This is especially true if you're in the "sanctions only hurt the local populace" crowd that doesn't believe in using economics to force change either.

Maybe, but probably not. Plus the lack of major progress in the summer offensive has created and will continue to create challenges in maintaining support for the war from western nations who are dealing with their own internal politics.

Counterpoint: all those videos of people just walking in, taking shit, and then casually walking out still exist. Some kind of state report showing the percentage of these cases that actually lead to arrests and jailtime would go a long way to demonstrate that those very obviously documented thieves aren't just getting away with it.

Also, in terms of stores leaving cities/states, hyper focusing on disproving the narrative doesn't actually stop those stores from leaving. If the focus is just proving their claims wrong then go right ahead, but patting yourself on the back as entire chains leave regions doesn't actually fix the problem. If the actual goal is to keep these chains from leaving, you still need to identify a real root cause, and if that root cause happens to be something like "the chain believes taxing and legislation in a region has made it unprofitable to continue operations" you'll still need to either acknowledge that they have a point, or again be back at "they're all gone but at least we know we're right."

Skimming the topic so this might have been mentioned, but two serious issues are funding tied to performance and fear of lawsuits. On the former, schools are incentivized to lie about kids performance because it boosts how much money they get. On the latter, you sometimes get issues where if you actually enforced the rules you'd have a case where one group is almost entirely the one getting in trouble and schools are so afraid of ending up in the news that they'll just let kids get away with their behavior rather than risk being accused of bias.

Wasn't this specifically just for people who are also in a registry as having moved away from the state? So it's a combination of people who according to records don't live there anymore who also haven't voted in 4 years.

Edit:
From the article
WCMH says in March 2019, 34,692 voters who appeared in the National Change of Address database as having potentially moved were mailed notices that they had four years to take action before they would be removed from the rolls. In February of this year, LaRose directed county election boards to send additional notices to inactive voters with the warning that their registration could be canceled after the May primary.

Per LaRoses 2019 directive and under the NCOA process, voter registrations were to be canceled by late July. In June, LaRose instructed elections boards not to purge voters before the August special election but to expel voters from the rolls by Sept. 27.

So these were people who have moved, who are given 4 years to update their information, including multiple reminders, and then the deadline was pushed back twice. At what point does this actually become fair?

Are we ignoring that Muslims and Jews lived side by side for generations in the region, most of the time in peace?
How they were not against Jews per se, just against how the West had whispered promises about creating their own countries that they would decide over, just to have them start talking about giving it to somebody else?
Are we ignoring that they have played But the other side did... for generations?

Yeah, an empire ruling over everybody and telling them they have to get along will create peace. We call that a one-state solution.

But it's pretty revisionist to say they generally got along. Yes, they were Jews living in these places, but they were living in predominantly muslim, Islamic theocratic nations where they had to pay a special tax and were second class citizens given fewer rights who were told that they were privileged to not be killed on sight simply because they share the same abrahamic god. And that's ignoring the various slaughters that happened over the centuries during the time that they were supposedly all just getting along.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic%E2%80%93Jewish_relations
Traditionally Jews living in Muslim lands, known (along with Christians) as dhimmis, were allowed to practice their religion and to administer their internal affairs but subject to certain conditions.[40] They had to pay the jizya (a per capita tax imposed on free, adult non-Muslim males) to the Muslim government but were exempted from paying the zakat (a tax imposed on free, adult Muslim males).[40] Dhimmis were prohibited from bearing arms or giving testimony in most Muslim court cases, for there were many Sharia laws which did not apply to Dhimmis, who practiced Halakha.[41] A common misconception is that of the requirement of distinctive clothing, which is a law not taught by the Qur'an or hadith but allegedly invented by the Abbasid Caliphate in early medieval Baghdad.[42] Jews rarely faced martyrdom or exile, or forced compulsion to change their religion, and they were mostly free in their choice of residence and profession.[43] They did, however, have certain restrictions placed upon them, listed in the Pact of Umar. The Pact of Umar was a set of guidelines placed upon Jews in Islamic territories, many of them being very restrictive and prohibitive.

However, Jews still experienced tense and violent times they were often discriminated against and, as a result, were often the recipient of many violent acts placed upon them.[45] The notable examples of massacre of Jews include the killing or forcible conversion of them by the rulers of the Almohad dynasty in Al-Andalus in the 12th century.[46][47] Notable examples of the cases where the choice of residence was taken away from them includes confining Jews to walled quarters (mellahs) in Morocco beginning from the 15th century and especially since the early 19th century.[48] Most conversions were voluntary and happened for various reasons.[additional citation(s) needed] However, there were some forced conversions in the 12th century under the Almohad dynasty of North Africa and al-Andalus as well as in Persia.[46]

Did they really have a choice in the matter?

Even assuming they didn't, what has the international community been doing since they were first elected to help take them out of power? How have they been identifying where Hamas is getting their rockets from, how have they been combating the smuggling, what did they do when it turned out Hamas was using aid money to build concrete tunnels, or when they were disassembling water pipes to make more rockets, or every time they fire into a civilian center from the school. What has been done in the last few decades to remove Hamas so that Israel doesn't feel like they have to take these actions?

Because like I said, people like to pretend as if Hamas is some uncontrollable force of nature born entirely from Israeli actions that are centered exclusively in greed and evil as if Hamas aren't people with agency being supported by other people with agency. Apply the same level of context and nuance in justifying why Hamas exists to why haven't they been removed yet and tell me what conclusions you come to.

True, but also nobody every says " Y happened because of Z". It's always "hamas has no choice" but also "all of Israel's actions are completely contextless and driven entirely by evil". Let's ignore that Hamas was elected by the people of Gaza. Let's ignore that they only had elections in the first place because Israel gave up control of the region to make peace with Egypt. Let's ignore that they only had control of the region because they took it to defend against an invasion FROM egypt. Let's ignore that prior to said invasion gaza was controlled by Egypt. Let's ignore that before then gaza was part of an even earlier invasion to wipe Israel out the day they were founded. Let's ignore that data before that Palestine could have been a country but the people rejected the deal because they didn't want to live near Jews.

Let's ignore that hamas has been smuggling weapons and stealing aid for decades while the international community does nothing to stop them. That they fire them from schools and hospitals intentionally and the world lets them. That they've been allowed to fester while surrounding countries demand Israel do more for the people who elected them as they fire rockets into neighborhoods. If only Israel could make peace with people who had in their charter the goal of the global eradication of the Jews. If only other countries gave a shit and tried to stop them.

Wouldn't that also force Israel's hand?

It's fine. They have some interesting topping combinations that you can't get at most regular pizza places, but otherwise there's nothing really special about their ingredients or prep and they charge more than they're worth.

Besides Cheesecake, what kind of food do they serve there?

Yes.

(Their menu would make Gordon Ramsay cry for how big it is. There's no thematic consistency, either. It's just pages and pages of options).

IDF drops leaflets in Gaza asking for information about hostages, it says
From CNN's Lauren Kent, Kareem Khadder and Eyad Kourdi
The Israel Defense Forces said it dropped leaflets in Gaza on Tuesday, appealing to residents for any information about the hostages being held by Hamas.
"As part of the extensive efforts to free the hostages held by the Hamas terrorist organization in Gaza, the IDF today used multiple channels to communicate with the residents of Gaza and ask for information about the hostages, offering protection and compensation in return," said the Israeli Air Force in a social media post, which included an image of the leaflet.
According to a CNN translation, the leaflet which contains a number of misspellings of Arabic words said:

As we just reported, Israel has dropped leaflets in Gaza asking for information on the hostages being held by Hamas.

But the Reuters news agency found one person tearing up the appeal for help.

"We don't care, do whatever you [Israeli PM Netanyahu] want, all of us in Gaza are telling you, we are resisting, from the east to west," the man said, as the crowd around him clapped.

"If they want to bomb us, they might as well bomb us while were here, we will not leave," the man, Abu Ramadan, continued.

"We will not be displaced nor evacuated, we lost our homes and our lives.

"We are living in this unsafe place with no shelter, no food, no water, not even water that is suitable for animals, but thank God, we will stay, we will stay here until victory God willing."
