Julmust is a Swedish soda we drink during the Christmas season and IKEA call theirs Vintersaga which means Winter fairytale. Every year nationalists freak out about this and claim that Christmas is being erased since IKEA doesnt call it julmust, but they literally say it is julmust in the description of the product.

And of course a Nationalist MP gotta chime in and be unhinged.

Are you saying that IKEA is falsely marketing it as julmust?

Vintersaga is a collection of winter consumables, like Julmust, Glgg, Pepparkakor, pepparkakshus, etc.

I guess that is too hard to understand for nationalists.

Sweden is crazy about Julmust.
Sales of every other soda drops 50%+ each December and Julmust sells over 45 million litres.
Coca Cola outsourced their Swedish production to Pripps, which was the biggest Swedish brewery back then, because it was cheaper than building their own production plants.
Since Coca Cola tries to market itself as the Christmas soda, it was a big surprise to see the Swedish sales go down 50% in December. They contacted Pripps and demanded that Pripps would start a multimillion ad campaign.
Pripps laughed at them. They earned much more on their December Julmust sales than what they did selling Coca Cola for a whole year.
So Coca Cola broke their contract, built their own production plants and advertised as hell.
After a few years, they realized that they couldnt beat Julmust. They even released their own Julmust for a while.

As for why Julmust is popular, we need to go back a looong time.
Workers were abused, hard work and little gain. The fat cats liked to pay in cheap alcohol and the workers liked to get drunk. Sweden was extremely alcoholic.
But the big reward was the Jull, the Christmas beer.
A dark lager, spicy and with a higher alcoholic rate. Workers could withstand all kind of abuse while dreaming about the jull.
It was expensive, and lots of it was consumed, but the fat cats knew that it was worth it. And they didnt dare to cheapen on it, a bad jull could result in revolting workers.
Time went on, workers got it better, but jull was a big tradition.
Julmust was first released as an alcoholicfree alternative to the jull. It sold badly.
Then we had the prohibition referendum in 1922 that ended with a ban of high alcoholic beer. Since jull was now banned, people searched for an alternative, and found Julmust. The sales went skyhigh, and it has been a part of the Swedish soul since then.

In the UK, they literally ruined it -- because it had sweeteners, but then they went back to sugar (last I checked).
I'm unsure what it'll have this time, because it seems to alter. At least, there's always Apotekarnes, that seems to be the sugar variety of Julmust.

Yeah, when it popped up on Twitter I really thought it was an old tweet. It's a bummer they can't think of anything new. Let's see if they do the same thing at Easter with ICAs godisgg :)

Their minds are broken.
Oh lord, that will probably happen. They tend to complain when someone says godisgg instead of pskgg.
