Chess literally is sometimes an Olympic event lmao

As far as I can tell Chess was included as an exhibition sport in the 2000 Summer games and that is the only time it has been at the Olympics. It is recognized as a sport by the IOC however, so it is eligible for inclusion and it was petitioned for Tokyo and is again being petitioned for inclusion in the 2024 games.

I do, but most of the solar calculators I've used say it wouldn't be worth it. Too many trees around.

Atlanta 96 was supposed to be the last time it was in the Olympics (because America kept winning gold) but it was brought back special for Tokyo 2020 at the behest of the Japanese Olympic Committee.

Out of the last 5 times it was in the Olympics the US won 1 gold medal and 2 bronze medals. Cuba was the biggest baseball winners in the Olympics.

I've never seen it on a first party product from Amazon, only 3rd party sellers and the only time I saw something that long was when it was coming from outside the country during the start of the pandemic.

Even as an adult in my 40s with a passing knowledge of old Hollywood, I can't tell who more than half those people are. And it's not because the impressions are bad (they're phenomenal), I just don't know the people being parodied.

I was going to say this, there are a ton of real people/places/things mentioned in the original Looney Tunes that I didn't recognize until I was older.

I only had one subscription, which was actually dead so I just unsubscribed.

My brother and I grew up on the comics and immediately vetoed the movie when they showed his face.

While they may not have been quite as focused in their choice of targets, on sheer body count in the Japanese were pretty close to the Germans.

I refuse to do premium versions of mobile apps. It essentially incentives them to make the non-premium version crappy. Not that I think me refusing is going to destroy their business model, but I'm not going to reward them for doing it.

Oh, I think you're being optimistic then. We probably aren't seeing VI until 2025 so following the Skyrim timeline they would probably have VII in design by 2035.

One I don't think I've ever seen or mentioned previously on these kinds of lists is the old MegaTraveller games or at least something with a similar character creation mechanic. Character creation involved (as best I can recall from like 30 years ago) Involved picking a military service and simulating a career, each period of service would get you more skills and potentially more retirement pay, but you also risked injuries or even death. Each tour also made your character older, which impacted the character as well, so it was always a balancing game on just how far you wanted to press your luck.

Yeah.

Yeah, it is kind of hit or miss depending on your tastes. I have tried a lot of games that I probably never would have played otherwise so it feels like it has been a decent investment.

I'm not going out of my way to hunt down news, but I will read an article if I see it come up.
