So I built a giant bubble column to get the star trader achievement and it wasn't until I was done that it occurred to me that, since it is just sitting in front of my house, that eventually I'm probably going to want to tear this thing down...all 1,038 blocks of it. That is going to be incredibly tedious.

I need to work on my farming machines that will produce me unlimited metal. And red stone, but I havent found the item I need to work on red stone or enderpearls. Blaze will be fine though.

That or I can download a mod that I can exploit for more metal.
2 gold = 4 gold stick
4 gold + 1 gold stick = 4 gold gears
4 gold gears + 4 sand = 16 gold

I got a machine set up that gets me unlimited sand (and glass, as glass is very good in the mods im using)
Once I got a setup for tons of gold, i just get an item called "flawless calculator" which goes to
4 gold = 1 diamond
I just buy my enderpearls, I think it is like 3 emeralds per pearl even without any discounts.

So I'd been trying to build a kelp farm to generate bone meal to power my sugarcane farm and I just could not get it running. Tore it down and rebuilt it multiple times, triple confirmed my chunk outlines, just couldn't figure it out....

Turns out I had planted sea grass instead of kelp *facepalm* I have no idea how I managed to not notice that multiple times as I built and rebuilt this thing. Once I corrected that it works fine.

Okay Creeper farm finished, I tested it and it works. So time to go afk. Unfortunately it's kind of also a spider farm, but that's fine, I do need string too to make more scaffolding. Wish there was a way to make this just creepers but that's not really viable with this design. It's gonna be good though.
What design are you using? Most of the things I see use slabs in the spawning area to make sure there is no place big enough for spiders to spawn.

I was bored and decided to dry out this massive water filed cave that is near my base. Dried it out from around 65 down to 15 and then ended up at the top of a massive cave complex that, as far as I know, I haven't been in yet. I don't think I'll explore it from the side, I'll try tunneling over to it from the caves I have explored so I have a relatively clear path back.

There is not, or at least I couldn't find one. I wonder if the prevalence of thunderstorms varies depending on the biome because I seem to get a lot of them in my game where I'm in the jungle biome.

In other news I think my wither skeleton farm is a loss. I finally got the nether portal mess straightened out, but the spawn rate is terrible and the skeletons that do spawn get hung up on the edge of the portal for some reason and don't drop into the kill chamber.

So I learned a new thing last night. If a Creeper is struck by lightning it turns into a charged creeper, and any zombie, skeleton or creeper that is killed by a charged creeper drops its head as an item. Thats cool but man in like 850 days I think Ive only experienced like 6 thunderstorms. Idk if Ill ever get to make zombie or creeper heads. I already have skeleton heads from Ancient Cities.

Funnily enough, like the second or third night in my world, there was a thunderstorm and it turned one of my pigs into a zombified piglin. That guy is still alive living in a hole near my base. lol

I need to make some improvements to the raid farm. I was using leaf blocks for spawn proofing but they keep getting destroyed by something. The Ravagers also occasionally end up outside the kill chamber, the last one was perched on top of the villager and had destroyed half the enclosure.

Also need to add some item sorting because this thing generates a ton of crap loot and mostly I just care about the totems and maybe the emeralds.

I ended up going with minecart just because I had a decent amount of horizontal distance to cover as well and there was a bit of a mountain between the village and the farm anyway. I actually had him all the way up at the spot and broke the cart to push him in and he somehow ran through me and all the way back to the village. Got him in on the second attempt and raid farm 2.0 is up and running and WAY better than the first one.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0r7fVRqKjcg

Basically sticky piston/sticky block shenanigans combined with the TNT duplication glitch. It probably isn't substantially better than just mining, but I love the stupid red stone stuff people come up with.

So I decided to mix things up and built a tunnel boring machine down at -58 in the overworld, figuring that would be low enough that I should be under most of the big lava pools. Immediately dug into a MASSIVE lava pool, probably the largest I've ever found this deep. Only good news is that I did find a couple pockets of diamonds as I was cleaning out the lava that I likely wouldn't have otherwise found, but it was not a banner inaugural run.

So I learned something last night. I learned that block conversion was a bigger thing than I realized. I knew you could convert natural blocks into moss with a moss block and some bonemeal, and of course you can convert natural blocks into sculk by killing mobs near a sculk catalyst. But I also learned that you can convert coarse dirt into dirt with azalea trees. You can convert dirt into mud with water, and you can convert mud into clay by placing a dripstone underneath it. That's cool! Dirt, clay and mud are all fully renewable resources. I wonder if there's more I don't know about.
You can also make coarse dirt into dirt by tilling it and I think you may also be able to convert coarse dirt into dirt by turning it into a path block and then breaking it.

At some point in the near future I'm either going to have to do some major terraforming around my main base or I'm going to have to relocate because I'm running out of room here. The fact that I'm sitting on top of a huge cavern is going to make terraforming a pain, but I also have a lot of stuff built up here that would be annoying to move as well. I guess I could just leave those here as an outpost and create a shortcut through the nether.

Killed 2 more Withers, and hatched some chicken eggs in the cage where I built them so I got some roses. Not sure what I need these for, but hey I have them now. Also I'm restructuring the way I use beacons. Instead of having all effects on at once, I want to build speed beacons strategically throughout the base. And that means I need waaaaaay more gold. Time to go caving!
I know some Wither skeleton farms use roses so that only skeletons spawn. I've also seen them used as the kill mechanism in some AFK farms.

Might be a cave somewhere nearby you didn't find. That might also explain the low slime spawns, there are areas dark enough nearby for zombies and skeletons to spawn.
That is going to be fun to try and find. I did walk around to see if I could hear any mobs and didn't find anything. Only other option would be to start tunneling out on each floor I guess. For now I'm going to call it good enough since I've already got several stacks of slime cubes and I don't really have any immediate projects to use them on.

Yeah I'm gonna have to go through another generation of both green and orange frogs. Haven't even spawned the second generation of white frogs yet, but hopefully I only have to do one. Cus I want at least 4 of each, plus I want to leave breeding pairs of each color in case disaster strikes. And I'm gonna make 2 iron golems to break down the big magma cubes, cus the frogs can only eat the little cubes. I hear if set up properly it's like 5000 froglight/hour. Which, first of all, froglight is a fantastic decoration block, but also it's an infinite lightsource farm.

But I'm gonna have to do this all another day. I haven't even built the farm yet in the nether.

You can filter just to Florida on this site to see the tracks that all the storms take.

I can see how that would be off-putting. Kinda like how before Mr. Robot... most hacker depictions never got it right and instead replaced it with surreal visual aids that were meant to hold our hand and dazzle the average viewer.
I mean not being realistic was part of it, but to an extent it was also that the fact they did these things was, in itself, the joke rather than making jokes using that as a source that fans of those things would get.
