The first game had enough differences in the levels all the way up to the end so as to never get repetitive, so there was probably more to do for a second game. Character creation involved (as best I can recall from like 30 years ago) Involved picking a military service and simulating a career, each period of service would get you more skills and potentially more retirement pay, but you also risked injuries or even death. It shouldnt and probably wont ever happen without Kojima involved, though.
