What's wrong with the book?

Just its glorification of fascism and imperialism really, which is why the movie was turned into basically a satire making fun of those aspects of the book and the world's society in it.

Oh damn I forgot to listen to the new Animal Collective EP. I heard it was really good, should get on that today.

And idk if it would be on my list but I didn't think about including 1000 Gecs and the Tree of Clues cause my mind just considered it a remix album but I do love it and the original album a lot.

Several new albums dropped today that I will be checking out, but haven't yet:
New Lianne La Havras
Another (his 3rd this year!!) Nicolas Jaar
New Protomartyr
and I guess maybe that new Dixie Chicks, though I've never really listened to their music before.

Saw Yves Tumor and Ecco2k back in March right before all entertainment venues started being shut down. Amazing show. Yves and their guitarists were both super flamboyant and having a ton of fun, especially playing the stuff from their new album since so much of it is straight up psychedelic rock. Ecco2k was great too. I'm not really big on the 'drain gang' artists, but he put on a good show and I talked to him after and he was nice.

Yeah I don't think there is any way really to rent games now besides those services that send you discs through the mail?

A shame. Definitely some games with 10-20 hour campaigns I would like to play over the course of a couple days and return, but oh well. I never took advantage of it while it was around anyway besides back in the blockbuster era when I was a kid.

Such xenophobic fear-mongering. The United States has multiple cases of bubonic plague every year. Also it isn't really a threat in the modern age because it is bacteria based and not viral, and can easily be killed/cured with antibiotics.

Carter is definitely my favorite but just because I think he is the only president who has genuine integrity.

In terms of what they actually did while president though? Probably LBJ, even with Vietnam? Things were best under Clinton for most Americans but thats mostly just the result of an incredible economic expansion that wasn't the result of him but just being in the right place at the right time, but also so much of what he did has resulted in the massive police-prison state we have today. Reagan and Nixon definitely have their pluses too besides the obvious negatives. All have tons of awful, legacy diminishing flaws though for sure, but thats basically what it goes into taking on being the '''world leader''' so to speak.

Had no idea that that iconic dance/kiss scene from the E3 trailer would actually be in the game. I just assumed it was constructed for the trailer, and acted as a prologue to the first part of the story since it happens the night before it. Glad it popped up.

One disk is just the data disk, the other disc is the play disc. Doesn't seem entirely uncommon. But yeah its not like there are two games in one, the game is just massive due to a lot textures.

But the game is split into parallel campaigns, so you did hear that bit correct.

I just got to the part where the big narrative switch happens half way through. I definitely see why its a controversial decision, but I understand completely why they have made the game this way and I think I'm down for it.

And yeah I am loving it so far. My only real complaint is the gameplay is definitely repetitive, a step down from the first in that regard but the gameplay is also made better through some additional elements. I think its fine, just playing it for about 5 hours a day the last 3 nights has just worn me out, think I might take a break from it for a little while.

The story, while not being as good as the first for sure, I think is told in a stronger, more engaging way which makes up for the generic conflict that acts as the narrative force behind the action. It's really impressive. Overall, so far, I think I prefer the first, but this is definitely a solid game, and the people who hate it (assuming they liked the first) only seem to because either 1. they are whiny internet trolls or 2. the narrative 'twists' don't sit right with them at all, which I understand, but I think its a dumb way to look at a game, as they seem to only want fan-service.

Sometimes, especially if I am watching late at night because if I have the volume too loud, the women in the apartment next to mine can hear it, and when the volume is kind of quiet sometimes I have a hard time understanding dialogue. Also honestly, just from watching foreign films, I am just kind of used to watching with subtitles on and prefer it.

From public/open/government spaces. Definitely.

Though I do think some of them should be moved to museums or other situations where they can be removed from a context of 'glorifying' the statues, and more in the context of using the statues as learning tools or just historic appreciation. Personally, I'm in favor of maybe opening an outdoor museum where the statues are on display all in one place, similar to places that hold a lot of Soviet/Stalinist monuments in Russia and Eastern Europe.

https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/testing/individual-states/usa
You can select Arizona and yes the percentage has risen from a month ago but it is about at the same percent as it was when everything was completely shut down two months ago.
Regionally there have been some areas that have seen an increase but in general things are about the same as or better than they were with everything shut down.
Like remember when people were saying that everyone in Wisconsin was going to become infected after the stay at home order got thrown out? Or when Georgia said screw it and just opened everything up anyways? Surely we would see huge spikes in those areas right? No. They never came. Dont believe the hype.

ICU Beds and Hospital capacity have been spiking in Arizona too though
