Idk about most, it a complex and multi layered issue.

Like it'd be easy to say COVID-19, but there's obviously no point in blaming the virus.

Trump really didn't handle it well at all. Acted like it was a hoax, acted like it was overblown, etc. So that definitely didn't help.

Scalpers buying ups masks and hand sanitizer and the like to make a profit didn't help. I could at least have sympathy if the times I heard about were people who were laid off genuinely trying to get by, and not trying to do like a 900% mark up. That's not what I heard about. The super mark up people went in big too. Lack of supplies to deal with the virus didn't help.

People refusing to use proper precautions, even if they have them available. Like I get it, I have slight breathing trouble when wearing a mask for any real period of time. But unless you absolutely cannot breath, people need to just accept discomfort.

Unchecked and rampant side of capitalism for not prioritizing only actually essential workers working, not providing employees proper safety measures, and instilling in people even if going to work is a bad idea for them they HAVE to. Alternatively, at the very least place like GameStop for example should have had curbside service from the get go and stuck with it. But I feel like that kinda goes under proper safety measures tbh.

Basically overall I blame not taking it seriously enough and the world stops for nothing.

The WHO is more or less responsible for how bad it is worldwide, since they effectively acted as the CCP's propaganda arm. Had they properly appraised the world, a lot of the damage could have been stemmed. If the WHO's entire leadership doesn't change after this crisis, it's time to defund them and use that money to fund an independent international health organization rather than one serving at the CCP's behest.

There's not a lot presidents can actually do. While he could have used that wartime production act sooner, it's unlikely that anybody else in the role would have either. He could have stopped exports of masks, etc, right away. Most of the stuff that actually impacts people comes down to governors. Other issues -- like depleting the mask supply -- had happened mostly under previous administrations.

The one thing he should have done -- although I'm not 100% sure his cabinet could do it -- was shut down the stock market.

It's Trump's fault. People listen to him and he could have told people to wear a mask and stay home and there probably would have only been 20-30,000 deaths and it would be pretty much over by now. Instead he dismissed it as a hoax, went on TV surrounded by people and ignoring all calls for social distancing, blamed China and Obama and everyone but himself for being unready, touted quack cures like hydroxychloroquine and injecting disinfectants, wanted to open up the country even while cases were going up, is literally cutting funding for testing, and now is trying once again to gut the ACA in the middle of a pandemic, so it is 100% Trump's fault.

Trump also could have refrained from sending untrained individuals to Wuhan as opposed to actual disease experts and could have had them return to the US under quarantine rather than have them just fly on back on regular flights with no precautions whatsoever.

Covid was gonna happen but it being so bad in the US is the fault of that orange idiot and all the folks that actually thought voting for that dumbass was a good idea.

Why would you first throw in trump? Dude probably has better healthcare than you and every person he touches is tested for covid-19. I know youre mad, and want to blame some important, but you being clean is not the presidents problem. Wash your hands after you use the bathroom, and after touching anything. That simple. I use to work at a restaurant before the shutdown so I know the peoples dirty secret of flushing the toilet and not washing hands. You brought this sickness upon yourself stop blaming a man who will never wash your hands for you.

This is something the states could have handled had they had both brains and balls. Failing that, the population itself could have followed medical recommendations. This was a failure on multiple levels, owing to the pervasive attitude of greed and entitlement.

Trump should have shut down sooner, did what South Korea did, not shut down the pandemic response team, not re-open the country in the middle of it winding down, not call it a Democratic hoax, tell people to wear masks, basically he could have done anything differently. Vote for a clown, get the circus.

The CDC should have not lied and not told people that masks were ineffective out of fear that doctors wouldn't have any. People could have been wearing homemade masks from the beginning.

Pretty much. The US' response has been a failure at pretty much every level, so pinning the blame on any one person is incorrect, but Trump has been very publicly making things worse since day 1 and is therefore awfully tempting to treat as a representative for the collective incompetence of the country.

All in all Democrats were ready to embrace Trump as the guy that was doing a good job controlling the Coronavirus. Times of crisis historically unify parties. I even thought he was doing a good job until reality hit me.

Our Republican governor is liked by pretty much everyone for handling it well. But Trump can suck a dick.

DC had massive protests, and protests are still happening now 4 weeks later, but cases per day has been on the decline with no "protest spike" at this point.

Maybe because...

Protests are outdoors with people mostly using masks. In addition, even tens of thousands of protesters represent a drop in the bucket in the DC area. Closing of business and staying at home has a much greater (negative) effect on transmission than any increases from outdoor protests. Simply due to the relative size of the groups involved.
