Broadly speaking, people are afraid of what they dont understand. Speaking (or typing) in a language someone doesnt understand automatically puts them on the defensive, and they reply with "Speak English" both trying to assert their dominance and to try to gain control of the conversation.

I mean... it's weird. It was just a random shit I tagged my friend on. I don't give a fuck if people talk in English in a french post and most people don't seem to care either.

My first language is french. I tagged a friend and said something to him in French on Facebook and a random american told me "this is america, speak English". Some spanish dude started talking in spanish to make fun of him. I just had to click a button to translate and we both talked to each other in our first language.

This is not the 1st time I have seen it happen and it seems only people from U.S.A do that.

What's up with that ethnocentrism?

I used to be a poor white guy and you would be surprised at how much poor people in the area I lived looked down on smart and successful people as "nerds" . I mean except Bill Gates they praise him for being successful even if he dropped out of school. Saying only minorities act like that is extremely racist though. I am glad I got out of my parents bad decisions, but not everyone is able to.

It's also that she has seriously bad issues with repression. She does not deal with her emotions, she does not talk about them, she does not face them. Going to Cordova should've been an amazing opportunity, but instead of resolving things at home first she used it as a way to hide from her marriage. Admittedly stems from a family dynamic that refuses to acknowledge any problems, or to take her seriously when she does.

One of my favorite episodes is when she goes to visit PB's brother, and every time they talk while PB is gone the brother is much darker and more somber. Same kind of dynamic done in a different way, but she totally fails to see how it relates to her.

Well when you put it that way. I guess I kinda relate to her

That's kind of a stupid reason to be offended.

My first language is not English and I got often asked where I am from from people from other countries due to my accent.

This is litterally an extremely petty reason to be offended. People who ask that clearly have no hateful intentions.

I'd say being rejected by this guy over such a petty thing is a good thing. Imagine dating someone with such a think skin or even living with someone like him. He'll try to find litterally everything to nag about

I really liked this about Season 3.

Our society has a fetish for punishing criminals forever. If you commit one crime it's over for you. That will always be on your record, people will always think of you as a criminal, and it will be a lot harder to even get a job and live a productive life at all. That last point may have been easier for Bryce because he was rich, and he also committed many crimes, but the point still stands that no one would give Bryce a chance until the moment of his death, even though he tried to get better. People were angry that he stayed out of prison basically because he was rich, but how much would going to prison have helped him? The fact is it wouldn't have helped him at all. Prison in American society is meant to punish, not to rehabilitate, and a lot of people are OK with that.

I am taking more out of that than the show did, but yeah.

Like I said I think it's a great theme, but I really felt like they could have done it better, but the critics were way too harsh with it. I feel like they missed the point and tried to make it feel life Bryce's actions didn't matter while it clearly did Ani being a new character is fine, but I felt she should not have been the main character and btw I agree with you

I think it was an interesting idea.

MAJOR SPOILERS

The topic of rehabilitation of people who committed crimes is a topic than interest me. I am sure their is criminals who committed crimes as bad as rape regret their actions and some can change. But it could have been done better. Ani almost instantly become best friend with everyone while knowing everything about the school felt weird. Also she become friend with Bryce and think he can change and she then cover his murder....wtf?!?! Also I get they wanted to be relevant with the topic of illegal immigration, but I feel like it felt really like they just wanted to have the theme for tony and pulled it out of nowhere. I do respect them for the Tyler's storyline and acknowledging that male rape exist too and admitting that activism can go too far if done wrong. Don't get me wrong, I support rape survivors to stand, but their is a difference between activism and sjw activism(you know what I mean). Overall I don't think it's bad, but I don't think it was excellent either. Season 4 would have been more interesting if the theme of rehabilitation was explored more with Monty instead of killing him
