Incel has to be the most misleading term to describe both sides. Women can easily get sex with tinder or going to a bar. Guys at worst case will have to go on instagram to "book an appointment with an instagram model" or look for cheaper avenues. But these don't solve the problems of those groups label themselves as incels. They're looking for companionship, a significant other to call their own. And the sex from that relationship would validate them as being wanted and deemed attractive enough by another person.

The sad thing is, while it's fairly transparent on the male population of growing population of incels, I don't think a lot of females realize they're at hard risk at becoming femcels as you've described. As of 2019 according to Pew Research Center, only 43% of Milennials (23-38 years old) were living in a household where they had a spouse, in contrast to Gen X at 53%. There were no radical change in social behavior in the past couple of years so you can expect this downward trajectory to continue. It's awful.

I heard that the younger generation of young straight adults(male) is less comfortable making the first step than before as they "are worried about getting consent wrong" tbh I read somewhere that "unsolicited compliments " were "enabling rape culture". I have been on Twitter and according to some of the nuts there acted like I was a predator for dating my boyfriend when he was 21 and I was 29 and apparently we cannot have anything in common if we are of different ages. We litterally like similar music, movies, video games and are both cat lovers. Apparently I have a big house and an established carreer at that age even though I was litterally a broke college student. 3.5 years later I finally have some money, but I never felt the power imbalance

Seems a bit creepy to me. But my cousin is engaged to a guy she started dating when she was 33 or 34 and he was 24 or 25 and it was only a little awkward for them. I think in your mid 20s it starts to become less of an issue because youre more likely to be finished with school and have something of a career started. By like 27 or so I dont think age gaps make much of a difference unless theres a significant power imbalance elsewhere in the relationship.

And if we are being honest thats actually the whole point of age gaps being weird - at a certain point there is an implied if not guaranteed imbalance of power that makes the relationship icky.

Oh god that discourse contaminated gamefaqs. I went back in college in my late 20s. My ex was the same age. Technically the power imbalance existed despite us being almost exact same age and yes it negatively affected me as he was a compulsive and manipulative liar. Power imbalances exist in every relationships. Do not conflict power imbalance and abuse of power. I got ADHD. Technically speaking someone who don't have a power imbalance over me due to more coherent and linear thinking.

By the logic of power imbalance a woman in a wheelchair should only date a person in a wheelchair that cannot walk.

This isnt the best example by any stretch but Im 32. Ive never dated anyone with such a large age gap before but Ive been gaming on Xbox for 10+ years. Ive met all kinds of people from a massive range of ages. I still have stuff in common with people way younger than me, outside of gaming of course.

I dont think it would be that big of a stretch to find a pattern much younger than you that you have a great deal in common with.

I tend to have more in commong with a bit younger than older. I swear most guys I have met that were only 5 years older don't even understand my Pokemon and gaming references. My partner who's 8.5 years younger does. I do wonder if they are talking about stages of life? Even so some people go back at university or college at 30 and since college age is 17 here. Some people start their carreer at 19-20 sometimes.

20 is not really an adult. Sure, legally speaking. But someone who is 20 is still cognitively developing and probably doesn't finish developing until 25ish. As such, I find it a bit creepy because at 20 you don't have enough "adult" life experience to not be overly influenced by someone who is 35.

Likewise, if you're 35, if a 20 year old doesn't annoy you in some regard, you're probably cognitively stunted yourself. Like talk about not growing as a person for 10 years in order to fully relate with that individual.

Well... I am 33 and I have been with my partner for 3.5 years. We were 29 and 21. I briefly dated someone 5 years older before and the older guy only wanted to get busted and go in raves all the time and took tons of drugs and alcohol despite being older. My younger partner drink occasionally, smoke occasionally and plays video games with me. Despite the bigger age gaps, we have more in common

I think in general people are able to differ consensual adults who met when they were adults and creeps like that. My partner's 8 years younger, but we met when he was 21. If I met it when I was 18, I would never have considered dating him

Asa gay guy who had hook ups with about 15 years older than me when I was 20, I was ready to have sex with older guys, but not date them. For dating. My max age gap was 10 years older so I do understand what you mean.

I don't think the age gap between consensual adults in our business and this age gap is not weird to me. I kinda find 25 and 65 odd, but it's not really of my business if they want to date each others.
