I think part of the problem is that MGS4 is a very fanservice-heavy game.

this is actually it's greatest strength.

I'm not saying it isn't dumb, I'm just saying "censorship" should be reserved for cases where the artist is being forced/pressured to change something about their work, or in cases where someone else (the publisher for instance) changes something in a localization. I don't even think andy's example above about "executives fearing blowback" should be considered censorship, since that was in the planning stages.

If the devs are like "let's tone down the sex/objectification because it was kind of tactless before" then that's not censorship, that's just a revision/change.

tldr: there has to be an element of the work being changed by outside forces/the devs forced to make a change against their will in order for "censorship" to apply. otherwise it's just devs willfully adapting to an evolving culture

VI seems to me like the FF game most set-up for a sequel, and yet as far as I know SE has never considered it, even after "After Years"

I once wrote a sequel to this game (so I once wrote fan fiction, yes) that centered around Gestahl having somehow survived being thrown off the floating continent. Disney stole my script and turned it into episode 9

I wish my first experience with xenoblade hadn't been the 3DS version. I might have liked it more.

I replayed it on the switch and it's gorgeous, but I think it's flawed. the beginning is s l o w and the combat isn't that great overall.

this is just to say that I love FFVI and am cold on/not super impressed by xenoblade.

I'm trying to use "porn vibes" in the way I think Anagram was trying to use it, which I think is in a semi-jocular fashion. It doesn't mean I played Undertale and though "hey this is pornographic" because obviously Undertale isn't, AT ALL. I think what Anagram was saying when he said "porn" was that he saw a character and he thought "the developers know EXACTLY what they're doing here" in terms of pandering to a specific fanbase. Again, I didn't pick this up from Toriel, but when I got to the date scene with Undyne and the ... uh... dinosaur lady (I'm sorry I'm blanking on their name), I was like "okay, here's where the fan fic starts."

Or I could be wrong and Anagram actually thinks Toriel's design is pornographic, which is uhhh an interesting take at best.

it's all great. can't fathom not liking jabba's palace. even if you don't like the ewoks (they're fine) you still get the speeder chase.

I will say george lucas did really try to ruin ROTJ with the special edition. the original's great though.
