Between MHA, Slime Boy, and Kobayashi's Dubs I've kinda been out of the loop for this seasonDigimon Ghost Game, Mushoku Tensei, The Faraway Paladin, and Megaton Musashi. I'm following those ones weekly. Interested in Vampire Cosmonaut, Sakugan, Kyoukai Senki, and Kimetsu no Yaiba. Gonna wait for a few more episodes to start. |

It's a pretty old series that sets up at least a few fantasy standards in Japan's light novel scene, so it'll feel pretty "normal" by today's standards, but they're still well-executed enough to enjoy. As I remember, the OVA series adapts volumes 1 for two-thirds of the episodes, then 3 and 5 for the last third (and it's super rushed, understandably). Volume 2 was skipped entirely and never got adapted, as far as I know. On a side note, only the novel's first volume was ever released in English. The TV series (Chronicles of the Heroic Knight) doesn't look as good as the OVA, but is still fine. It re-adapts volumes 2-3 somewhat more faithfully, and also volume 5 (which goes in a somewhat divisive direction in that The TV series also opens up room for the author's shared-universe works like Legend of Crystania and Rune Soldier, though I haven't tried those yet. |
