Unfortunate week for me for this album to be hitting since I'll be busy for most of it. Gonna have to do this from memory on my listen from Monday. Luckily I've listened to it quite a few times before.

This album isn't perfect. I will almost always skip SCREAM and the only reason I don't skip laughing and not being normal is because it's the very first track. Life in the Vivid Dream is okay. Everything else, though, is heavily consistent and at minimum a great song. The demonic bubblegum energy of Kill V. Maim is so hypnotic. Flesh without Blood is a fantastic angry breakup song. I love that guitar riff in Artangels. There's so much blissful electronic pop to be had here. The album sits in a weird spot for me, though, in that I cannot really bear to listen to any other Grimes album. She has some good singles here and there, but overall no other album is able to do anything for me.

No and I don't plan on it, but I was hoping to read other opinions on it.

The game looks gorgeous and I'm still excited for its release, but the combat seems to be a tad dissonant in that there are a lot of animations and attacks happening with disproportionately small damage in return.There's a lot of slashing happening and numbers popping off and I worry it'll just feel a little style over substance.

When I played it, I kept people all at roughly the same percentages the entire time, so I learned a lot of the big revelations later into my play time. It's interesting to see you completing whole stories and going into other stories with all that knowledge. It's so remarkable how flexible this game's storytelling is.

As soon as they release the trust system for Stormblood, I think I'll be diving back into FFXIV. Having an infant child makes me not want to have to commit myself to dungeons with actual human players.

Masayoshi Soken - Shadowbringers

I'm nowhere near reaching Shadowbringers in FFXIV (so please no context spoilers if you have played it), but I'll be damned if this song doesn't kick ass.

As a fairweather Bears fan with limited NFL knowledge, I have decided the best course of action for the Bears now is to rebuild the O-line and D-line through free agency and draft Jaxon Smith-Njigba at #9 so that they can let Claypool or Mooney walk when their contracts are up.

Actually, I just noticed Spiritfarer there. Can I change my choice? If not, all good.

I have friends who occasionally play Hell Let Loose. I'd like to join them some time.

Game preview looks dope and I'm much more excited for this game now.

I'm gonna give Wo Long a whirl on game pass but I've cooled on it a bit the more I've seen.

I haven'tplayed Crisis Core and have only heard Price of Freedom and Why so far, but those are both very strong tracks and makes me excited to unlock Crisis Core on FBL.

The vibe of FFX-2 is indeed a little off-putting and for canonical purposes I wish the game didn't exist (though I did kinda dig the overall atmosphere of Spira post-Sin), but I don't think the OST is bad at all. Memory of Waves and Light is one of my favorite tracks in the entire series and may be better than Zanarkand on it's best day in my eyes!

With Theatrhythm Final Bar Line now out (which is not an eligible answer), I figure this is a great time to present this question for not the first time and certainly not the last. For the purposes of this topic, FFXIV : A Realm Reborn and all its expansions are considered separate from each other.

I'll always have nostalgia for X, but IX slaps pretty hard as well.

I've been here for well over a decade, but I'm not sure we've ever had any memorable interactions. But maybe I'm wrong and just a jerk for forgetting!

Oh wow that's super neat you liked Elon Musk Is Making Me Sad so much. I would not have expected it to be #1, let alone sitting at the top for basically the duration of the ranking. I remember it catching me off guard as well when it first released. Didn't expect a 7 minute banger and this was before Elon had his societal heel turn. The lyrics are a lot of fun too, especially his mention of being in the lead in '95 when Weezer was at their all-time high in terms of critical success. It's also cool how in sync our tastes seem to be on a general level. I like the music I like and I'm glad other people do as well.

Thanks for going on this journey. I missed out on it last time and I'm happy to have had the opportunity to go along for the ride this go-around. It takes a dedication I wish I had these days, but I'll always have the one time I pulled off ranking 100 songs. It's how I found many of my favorite songs and bands so I find it a very worthwhile project if you can carve out the time for it. I hope you can say the same after this batch of nominations.

I played the demo enough to be able to start off on Expert. I consistently get S rank and above with the occasional A. I plan on playing most of the track list before jumping up a difficulty.

I know everybody was disappointed like me when FFX wasn't immediately unlockable, so what title did you all choose to start with (so that you may then follow it up with FFX)?

I chose FFXIII because it was the best combination of fewest songs and most familiarity with the OST.

What I'm missing is the mode with the map that was in Curtain Call where you'd go through randomly generated forked path stages-- is that still in this and you just need to unlock it or did they scrap it?

This is gonna be my first Theatrhythm game so I have no idea what mode this is, but was it similar to whatever the Endless mode that's going to unlock once all the music quests are all completed?

I'm bummed I have to spend an extra $30 to get Melodies of Life, To Zanarkand, and Eternity Memory of Lightwaves, but I can't not have those songs.

I will have to find some time to listen to more Modest Mouse. If anyone has a good suggestion for a second album?

I think The Moon and Antarctica is probably a good next step. It's the album before Good News and probably the most critically well-received. I also personally really enjoy the high points of We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank, but I haven't listed to the album in full in awhile.

The World At Large - beautifully bittersweet track which serves as a very interesting tone setter for the album. also really appreciate the way it leads into Float On.

Float On - iconic riff. I remember being so excited when I saw this reach the top of a weekly ranking show on a music channel.

Ocean Breathes Salty - some fun lyrics in this one like "you missed when time and life shook hands and said goodbye" and the abrubt ending with "for your sake I hope heaven and hell are really there but I wouldn't hold my breath."

Bury Me With It - always been a little off-putting, but I've learned to appreciate the exasperated pleas. plus they say the name of the album!

Dance Hall - catchy and chaotic, though I kinda wish it was a little shorter to just concentrate it more.

Bukowski - such great banjo action here. I enjoy every time they slow the beat down and then pick it back up.

This Devil's Workday - gosh I've always read this as The Devil's Workday and didn't realize it was this until today. doesn't make much of a difference but still an interesting revelation almost 20 years later. anyways this doesn't do it for me, but it doesn't overstay its welcome so it's okay.

The View - this song is top tier on the album to me, but I always waver on whether it's near the top or bottom of that tier. I love that warble in the chorus and some of the background vocal eccentrics.

Satin In A Coffin - this feels like the most modest mouse song on the album. I don't know what I mean by that, but it feels right. I definitely tend to favor their more pop-friendly stuff, but I can flirt with this weirdness.

Interlude (Milo) - I mean, it's pleasant enough but it feels more like an intro to Blame It On the Tetons than its own track, which isn't a bad thing to be.

Blame It On the Tetons - this song is so damn chill. I love that fiddle and piano. the continuation after the false ending is interesting but not unwelcome. I've never actually taken the time to digest the lyrics, but I think I'd enjoy this song even more if I did.

Black Cadillacs - "it's true we named our children after towns that we've never been to" is a lyric that I always remember vividly because I have a slightly irrational disgust for bullshit names. I also greatly enjoy that sitcom opening-sounding piano chime that randomly pops in.

One Chance - this song is so weird after being inundated with cynicism, hopelessness, and just a general malaise up to this point. to be met with a song about coping with the loss of everything is an odd, but not unwelcome, turn this late into the album. I appreciate it.

The Good Times Are Killing Me - I find this a fun, goofy ending to fun, goofy album. really enjoy the very smooth, prominent bassline.

This album was my first introduction to music that had that "indie" sound, whatever that means these days. It helped shape my tastes in music during pretty formative years when I started willfully choosing what I listened to. It's been nice to revist it. I know albums like Lonesome Crowded West and Moon and Antarctica are more beloved among the general fanbase, but this is my favorite in a way that I have trouble putting into words. Not for any deep reason, it's just difficult for me to express without sounding dumb. Like it's simultaneously up its own ass but also tongue in cheek. Anyways, great stuff.

The interlude track is probably worth dropping from the ranking as well imo. It might be hard to form an opinion on it.

I wouldn't say he is criticizing people who need medication. The singer, and band as a whole, are very holistic in their approach to life so it makes sense to me that he would direct his efforts to combating depression and whatnot by using the power of the mind. I find the song encouraging, like trying to inspire you to take control of your own mental being and avoid self-pity and wallowing in the sadness of everything. I can use that in tandem with the medicine I'm on.

all the comments in the links kept referring to "Adam" too (even if i never thought of Owl City as 'Adam' just that I had heard him referred to as that before) aaaaa. not that i listened to him much since i fcking hated Firefleis

Port Blue is much different than the Owl City stuff. I, too, was not the biggest fan of Fireflies and have never listened to an entire Owl City album. But Port Blue, Colour Therapy, and stuff released under his own name are all instrumentals. He's claimed that his true passion in music is movie scores, so with these projects I think he tries to invoke that.

Unfortunately not. The duo disbanded and have ended any working relationship, including doing what's needed to get their two albums back onto Spotify or other streaming platforms. You can find the albums in playlists on YouTube, though, so they aren't completely gone. The singer is named Kelsey Bulkin and she has some solo stuff on Spotify that is recent, as well.
