Alright, here comes my fun.

1) Faster text boxes, it was a crawl before and a nuisance.
2) Quiet Fi down, she was way too handholdy and we didn't need her reiterating the exact objective we were just told.
3) Speed up Loftwing flying and make diving have a notable impact, it didn't feel like it sped up at all.
4) Remove the second visit to Eldin Volcano, you'll see why soon.
5) Make the dragon visits to Eldin and Faron into new areas like Lanayru, my examples:
> Faron can add a new diving area that comes out of the original place you met Faron's dragon. We can have some manner of underwater puzzle just to get to the dragon instead, instead of flooding the main area.
> Eldin can have the Fire Sanctuary be the stealth mission. Rebuild the dungeon to utilize all of your items over the course of it, with some underground paths to the items that use the dungeon's item in the stealth. Keep Ghiriham as the boss, but make him capable of being damaged by other items, rather than be a rehash of the first fight.
6) Add fishing like Kokoro said, that's interesting.
7) Make the harp more interesting, not swiping back and forth.

Permadeath doesn't really work in this game. But like Heroes is the only FE where you just can't miss ever, which ends up making this game a little more boring as it goes on. Granted you get screwed on summoning RNG but it'd be nice to see something that adds accuracy/evasion into play.

What happened? Me, I'm only agitated with a couple of people. You'd never be one of them. You're cool with me and some of our interests have aligned. You do still do topics like this one, at least, right? Always a good boredom killer! What else are you into these days?

Both the last question and first are answered around the same sort of thing. On the board I occasionally come back to do ost stuff. Just ranking topics get me annoyed due to the activity of fans. I basically bitched at a couple readers because they didn't really make much of an effort to comment on their nominations. My daily stuff can be summed up with gaming, LPs, OSTs/sometimes anime OPs/EDs, anime itself. Not the most productive right now. Granted, being a seasonal anime watcher I'm probably a better option for recs... maybe find me in #gauntlet when you join the Discord.

Thinking of gauntlet... I should probably actually work on updates, I can finish an OST today if I listen to it while working on that. Thanks for getting me to chat, ahaha~

It actually was going to drop shortly after top 50. Hell, quite literally shortly. #49. It interestingly sounded like a helicopter chase but to me the sound system seemed to be its major flaw. Sounded like it had severe limitations. It still got a "good" rating of 7, and placed as low as it did because I've never played FFVIII, so shot all knowledge of Laguna that I have out the door as it's just speculations.

All three songs rated 7s, just the difference in rankings was the first was an unknown character so score of 5.5; and the other two... while I've never actually played the games their from... each score 7 because I basically already know I like them from some preconceived knowledge. They'd probably be higher than 7 if I really knew them, but if I like them already they get 7s. I'll separate song write-ups though.

Blue Oni Prologue had a cool melody, kind of similar in my aspect of liking orchestra stuff. It was a little rock based and then had the kind of... I don't remember the name of the instrument. The one string instrument that's usually tied to Japanese samurai stuff. There's a lot more to it, although it never really reaches to like a melody I could call great. Just good.

Ashley's song is hilarious with lyrics, but it's not the greatest song from it. It also makes one of the weirdest thought provoking things. She at one point threatens that if you refuse to be her friend, you'll be toast. And considering she once turned her teacher into Ermine's spoon, it makes me wonder. Is she literal about the toast, or figurative. Like the fact that I had time to sit there and wonder that since the chorus is kind of boring after you return to it for the third/maybe fourth time. Yes, we know... your name's Ashley.

Ohoho. Oh right, I'm supposed to make a write-up of the song. But I can't help but comment on the fact that if I ever played Street Fighter... I'd probably main Karin the moment I picked up the game. Unless I had to unlock her first. Then I'd main her the moment I got to unlock her (not be limited to playing her, but definitely mah main). I enjoy the fact that her song is jazz-esque but orchestral, it definitely gives off her ojou-sama feel and continues to make me sit there like "waaaaant." Yeah, I love the archtype, now you know.


Finally, in a post of its own because of the massively different rating. While the character rating is my usual unknown (5.5), the song rating actually was a 9. For me, it's the fact that it perfectly is kind of your English city tune, when you're just around in the streets with piano, strings, and like an oboe or something. It gives some mystery, and is just peaceful. It's a BGM that makes you feel like you're in a completely new place with some detective nearby analyzing something. Sure, I don't think of Layton instantly, but I would if I played the game, likely.

As for you... I mostly refuse. I'll do only one write-up and it's because it's a character I was hyped on doing a write-up of. Sure, there was also a Touhou character that each I do research because I know it's a series I'll never actually tackle because I'm just bad at Bullet Hell, but that's not the one. Ironically the one I will cover is bullet hell. lolme.


It ranked 25th overall with a song rating of 8 and the only character ranking of 10 this ranking saw. Asgore is straight up one of the few Undertale characters I really liked and it was more than just a like. But I'll explain that after the song. Undertale is actually why I wanted to do a music ranking at the time when I set up someone pushing for an idea of a BGM project for me and then this was nominated and it was such a great idea I did it. Despite that, the song really dissolves into a 9 different note melody, if even that. It's still a great song as it represents just the fluffy nice guy Asgore is, and how he truly doesn't want to fight... Yet you can also hear the determination of needing to fight. That's also where I like Asgore himself. Throughout the game he's brought up by many characters as an intimidating presence, as the first time you're probably not going to be on Pacifist or Genocide routes. Then you meet him, and he's the father figure to Toriel's mother figure (which is obvious on why if you know spoiler stuff). But he also takes the scary part of being a father figure. Undertale pulls a lot of breaking the 4th wall situations, and I don't like things that are too reliant on breaking the 4th wall for humor. I hate Flowey, I've never liked Deadpool... these sorts of things. Asgore continues how pretty much every character can break the 4th wall, but he does it in one singular fashion. He destroys the Mercy option on your menu. I found that thing just the perfect mood setting for his fight. I also love that his attack options are the same as Toriel, just more difficult since "end game" character. He was a perfect fit for an end game character and he truly shone with a fatherly aura in basically... less than a minute of text box reading. It's all he really had, but it was great to hear even more things about him and just understand his character through the Pacifist route too.

Zann Consortium placed 27th with a song rating of 8 and a character rating of 7.

The song itself... one of the strongest things about it is that despite being a different composer, it walks into a Star Wars video game and feels like it's belonged to the series the whole time. It doesn't clash with the true style of the normal music, but also presents itself as far different than being part of the main teams. This was necessary since it followed Tyber Zann. For those that don't know about Empire at War, it's a Star Wars RTS, and while not the best RTS, it's definitely an overlooked series. The first game covered a bit inbetween the two trilogies, showing the formation of the Rebel Alliance. The expansion is where the Zann Consortium shows up. This game takes place over the course of the original trilogy with its own non-canon version of Tyber Zann sneaking around with his space pirate band and steadily finding things to claim for himself. One thing interesting is similar to Red Alert, there are hero units that given a unique space craft or land unit, will have special commands. Tyber bribes units to his side. Yeah, that mechanic. The campaign does some interesting things and ends in a rediculously non-canon fashion, but it's a very interesting campaign. Since it includes things like the Zann Consortium finding and invading an old droid factory and taking some schematics for I think Droidekas. He also recruits many characters, some new, some actually known such as IG-88 of Jabba's bounty hunters. For anyone that reads this, check out the game. It's not perfect, but it's pretty good if you don't mind it not being that hard.

I'll request mine because last time I nommed Noire in a project of yours I got #1 so I was curious how I would do this time. Also because Twink's theme is nice and pleasant.

You hadn't had a placement, so I can't really blame you for my drop in motivation.

Noire's Theme placed 26th with a song rating of 8 and the highest character ranking of that song tier at 9.

It represents Lastation really well, which is more what the Neptunia character themes are meant to do. And honestly, Lastation is pretty much my least favorite of the lands, though Noire is my favorite of the normal CPUs. It has a nice 'industrial'-esque tune to it, but really steps up at the minute mark with more of a modern piece, probably to represent Black Heart. Don't believe I really need to cover the character.

Twink's Theme got higher at 20th with a song rating of 9. I haven't played any Paper Marios, so I couldn't comment on the character.

The song, however. I just flat out adorable. Pipe melody is catchy and lovely with the little xylophone in the background is just a true joy to listen to.

One of the people that didn't really comment, but since he's a character I know... I'll oblige.


Song- 7, Character-7; What I always enjoyed about this song, is even though it is limited by the DS sound system, it actually does well to still keep kind of a left hand/right hand melody like a piano song is built. You have the bass notes that just beep around and this forefront melody that has both a heroic, yet roguelike theme. It represents the entire tale of Linebeck well, I don't remember the entirety of his story... I just remember it being something surrounding like what he did to Jolene and some bad luck that ensued. I'll eventually play PH again. I just remember liking him as the story went on as he truly grew to respect Link and became respectable himself.

Song- 7, Character- 5.5 (since unknown). Cid's theme was one of the few I listened to twice while doing the quick rankings, which is also where it comes in that I'm like "eh, X could have been higher" that I did for one song. His song is one I kind of like, but not one that pushes further than simply I like it. It has a really good melody, with both the forefront and just the extra higher pitched piece going along, and the snare line behind the rest. The rest of the song is okay, which keeps the song at a 7, rather than pushing to an 8. There's some things about Cid's character that I have an idea I'd dislike, but I shoved them away for the ranking. Once again, I can probably chat about this over Discord, I kept the 5.5 because of stating I have no knowledge, rather than going off what I have.


Song- 8, Character- 5.5; As Scarlet promised me this song longer ago, and then would keep singing a little bit of it during Borderlands everytime a Guardian Sera showed up on screen... Of course changing the lyrics to make it fit... I had a little more intrigue than dismissing it because of disliking the vocalist and not being that attracted to the character. The lyrics are fantastic however. Makes me feel like I know the character even if much of it could be lies. Maybe eventually I'll have possession of Inquisition and I'll be able to tempt my fate. It's not like she'll never be in my party (I just might not romance her).


Song- 9, Character- 7; This was a song I actually remembered from Mass Effect, even if I felt more like I heard it in the wrong place. I love the foreground melody with just the deep "pulses" constantly hitting, as it gives off just the intimidation and mystery of Cerberus, and especially the boss himself. It was very difficult to pick which to rank higher between 9th and 10th (which no one may ever know which song that is unless I choose otherwise), because I really loved both songs... This one literally won on the edge that even if I know basically nothing about the Illusive Man... It's actually the point compared to the person who ranked just below him. I don't know how to talk about the Illusive Man, I feel like I want to take in full exposure before I truly comment on him. He did top the 9/7 themes.

Finally...

Song- 10, Character- 5.5; One of 5 10 rated songs, and it comes from something I have not played. It begins with a perfect build-up of a chorus in the background, then has a touch of violin, ramps up and down. I'll straight up say it, I absolutely love the use of piano, and all the different strings+background chorus they bring into it. It even lovely pulls in an electric guitar without even making it overload at a point. I'm a sucker when it comes to orchestral music, and this one beautifully utilizes its melody to give off a peaceful feeling in Ezio's family up until it starts to end, and then gives this small intimidating presence as the strings crescendo to a point louder than it had been before that either represents the assassin himself, or something far more exciting.

Garrus placed 14th overall with a song score of 9 and a character score of 6. People are gonna lamblast me for my Garrus rating, but just bear with me.



The song opens up like a space western, fairly fitting for our sniping gunslinger. A lot of it steadily turns kind of average, as it has minimal of an actual song, but it's fitting for background music... and then 3:45 happens and it's like... There's no point when I'm actually sick of the song. I highly enjoyed it despite how often I tuned out ME's music.

Garrus himself hit a massive high point when he appeared in ME2, and his recruitment afterwards my first time playing it. After the first time... it's not as entertaining. And after recruitment... he's just kind of an edgelord to be honest. Both of his loyalty missions are "I didn't kill this dude before, I want to kill this dude." Sure, that's looking at the casing of the nut shell and not noticing that one is a peanut and the other is an almond, and just treating both as the same instead, since there's plenty of differences between the two... but this is what I get out of his character. I'd love to see if ME3 really settles him into fully taking a side against... more main story related problems. Maybe he can make me recalibrate my opinion of him.
