Personally I wanted to see some more development for party members. It really felt like they got pushed aside in Disc 2. Removing the orphanage backstory is probably the best way to make room for it too, because that all felt really random and out of place.

I'd also make the menus and junctions a little less tedious and confusing. I hated having to constantly rearrange things after switching up party members.

Take Squall (and maybe Quistis and Selphie) and put them in a completely different game.

Okay, Laguna is cool too. But he's not one of the mains.

The rest of the game besides the 4 characters I mentioned can go rot.

Now here's a question for you: FF8 came out on steam before the 7 and 9 "graphical upgrade" versions, yet both of those have been released on PS4. Why wasn't 8?

I've been putting off giving it a replay and it being released on PS4 would just be great...

I would say this game would benefit from a completely different cast. At least take out quistis, the second worst character in ff.

Making the game about Laguna's crew would be great.

I've heard people suggest that Square has to work out the logistics of Chocobo World first, but who knows.

-summoning GFs seems really, really good to new players
-drawing 100 of every new spell from a buel in the forest seems mandatory to new players

-some sort of system to disincentivize save scumming with early triple triad

Also, I don't think you get to say you're "fixing a game" if you are destroying the integrity of the plot and characters and world the creators built. You can make suggestions on how to alter pacing, flow, dialogue, etc. But you are going past "fixing" if you just remove characters altogether.

Remove Laguna. Make it about Squall vs Seifer. But really lean in that direction. Multiple fights against him, 1v1, more CGs depicting that. No Laguna

You know I like Laguna but that might actually be the best plot adjustment I've seen suggested in here.

For me it would just be "explain your mechanics better." Half of these responses are because the game doesn't teach you how to actually play the game.

Yeah, FFVIII has itself to blame for a lot of its misconceptions because the game tells you how to play one way when another way is much easier and better.

Ah... rhetorical question, my bad, but you reminded me when talking about the gorgeous visuals (yet the lack of a PS4 port despite the others getting their Steam versions ported over...)

I'm with Scarlet, removing the main characters doesn't fix anything. Because there wouldn't be a plot, it's more of what about the Squall/Rinoa is bad and how do they need to be improved.
