For context this controller comes with a DLC code for exclusive in game items; because that code is limited it's worth a lot in resale, as there's only so many codes out there. It cost the devs nothing to make and was meant to incentivize the controller, but instead it became the object of value. The "problem" is publishers aren't seeing a penny of that resale, but if it were an NFT they could snag 5-20% from it for each and every resale. The main attraction of NFTs will be limited "play-to-earn" things from the likes of tournaments, ranking events, or lotteries that resell for a high value immediately and constantly, so they can snag that commission on it repeatedly. All it does is create a huge imbalance between large markets that have a larger talent pool and small markets that could barely produce a whole team, while disallowing anybody outside of team markets from ever playing. Imagine telling a kid that dreams of playing professional sports that they can't because they weren't lucky enough to be born in the right place. Salaries would also be much worse as athletes have no negotiating power. Absolutely terrible. Why are you more interested in lopsided sports that give talent absolutely no control over leagues that give players value and aim for parity? --- My friends call me Vee.
