I don't see how you can argue the US weren't good and all "BOTH SIDES" the other parties in WW1 weren't bad.

It was literally a bunch of fat powermongers who wanted to increase their power and wealth all of whom completely underestimate what warfare on this scale with new technology would become.

Except America who didn't want to get involved until they got dragged into it.

Don't let cold war - modern era politics confuse you. America really didn't do anything wrong in WW1/2 except the Atom Bomb and even that is debatable. They were as good as a major faction in a political war can get.

They were the NCR in Fallout 2/New Vegas, The Tao in 40k, The Starks in Game of Thrones. The Americans in WW1/2.

Russia were building the Soviet empire, France were gearing up to start war with Germany anyway to get back the territory lost in the Franco Prussian war. WW1 was pretty inevitable.

You're right but not for the reasons you listed.

Pretty much every player in WW1 save for America was itching for a fight and to expand their power.

The only dude in power in Austria-Hungary who didn't want to start a war for no reason was Franz Ferdinand and he got shot.

There really wasn't a good beneficial reason for the conflict and no one predicted what modern warfare was going to be like. They were all just a bunch of douchebags being idiots.

It's why I cringe a bit when people like act like it was Germany and Austria-Hungary being evil. That's more a knock on effect of WW2. In WW1 Germany were no less evil than anyone else really except America who were the definitive good guys in both.

I like the house on fire analogy.

And then someone else says "Why just that house? All houses matter!" and proceeds to spray a hose at a different house down the street.

I will say though that the BLM movement would have been smarter in terms of marketing to pick a different name. They were asking for "Black Lives Matter" to be twisted.

If they called themselves All Life Matters, ALM from the start. Conservatives would have no where to go beyond screaming about abortions.

Yeah Germany is fine for their homeless population that is 6 times larger than the US per capita despite being 1/4th of the population size.

A rate that's increased 150%, continued while the rich in Germany got richer and became so bad the government has refused to continue releasing data on the subject because the criticism they were recieving was overwhelming.

You're talking out your ass it's damn offensive for the millions of people who are suffering across Europe just so you can get off on some kind of online ego trip. Things are not "fine" in Europe if you are poor. Not the good parts, let alone the bad parts.

Walking down the streets of the UK I frequently get random racist slurs yelled at me. I'm far from the only one. They just voted for Brexit for literally no reason beyond chest thumpig and the anger towards immigrants is palpaple. It has the worst knife crime rate in the world.

America has people of all colors and religions and beliefs. We elected a black guy, a white supremacist and a black/asian woman into office in a row. That's how fucking diverse the views of the population are. That could not happen in any other country

If you go to the UK looking for "Cultural diversity" you're no different than those teenage girls who to to Australia and decide to backpack across the entire outback for fun.

An NHS worker was left distressed and humiliated after a neighbour who had been tormenting her for weeks emptied a shopping bag full of his own faeces over her head as she went to work.

Josh Wade, 22, subjected the woman to a campaign of aggressive and unpleasant behaviour lasting more than two months, Liverpool Crown Court heard.

He spotted his victim leaving her home in Litherland shortly after 7am on October 1 last year and followed her down the road.

Wade grabbed the woman, who the court heard was clearly identifiable as an NHS worker, and slapped her in the face with a hand clutching the bag of excrement.

She was left with faeces smeared over her head and Wade was arrested when police arrived soon after. Judge Rachel Smith said: The effect upon her was instant and the victim personal statement element of her complaint sets out how distressing, humiliating and frightening she found the whole incident.

Wade had previously pleaded guilty to administering a noxious substance and possessing cannabis and was jailed for 14 months. He denied a charge of harassment that put a person in fear of violence, which alleged that he made threats to shoot the woman.

Prosecutors agreed to drop that charge on the basis his harassment was incorporated within the noxious substance allegation.

Josh Wade was jailed for 14 months over his campaign of harassment

Defending, Lloyd Morgan told the court Wade expressed remorse in his police interview and recognised the effect his dreadful actions had upon his erstwhile neighbour. He added: He indicated as set out in his psychiatric report that he would apologise to her if given the opportunity.

His first taste of incarceration has had a significant effect upon him and a positive effect upon him as he is no longer taking drugs, hes rid himself of that terrible affliction which is the first time thats happened for a long period of time. Mr Morgan said Wade previously suffered from depression and was admitted as an inpatient to a psychiatric hospital when living in Western Australia for some time as a result of drug induced psychosis and other mental difficulties.

The lawyer said: In the cold hard light of day and free from the affliction of drugs, he recognises his appalling behaviour and wishes of course that it hadnt happened.

Judge Smith said: Against a lengthy campaign of harassment from August through to October of last year involving aggressive and unpleasant behaviour towards your neighbour, on October 1, you followed her outside of her home by running at her and gripping her and slapping her face with a hand in which you held a bag of your own faeces. She said reports confirmed Wade had a lengthy history of mental health issues, often compounded by or triggered by your drug use. Judge Smith went on: There was in your case of course an element of planning because you had to find a bag, defecate into it and then use it as a weapon. The judge said Wade had shown a desire to humiliate, demean and distress the victim

She added: Of course the repellent and unhygienic nature of the offence shows a desire to humiliate, demean and distress the victim. The judge said the victim described feeling unclean afterwards and added: Of course the adverse effects of being attacked with a bag of faeces speak for themselves.

Wade was also given a five-year restraining order which prevents him from contacting the victim. Judge Smith said it was regrettable that the restraining order would prevent Wade from returning to his former home, but the victim and her partner were entitled to be protected from him.

THE shocking state of the British Army has been exposed in a secret report that reveals 32 of 33 infantry battalions are dangerously short of battle-ready soldiers.

Frontline units lack the manpower needed to fight the UK's wars - with just 11,301 troops available of the 14,984 minimum needed to deploy on operations.

The alarming Ministry of Defence report, marked Official: Sensitive, shows that regiments are hugely under-manned

The report reveals that 1st Battalion, one of the Army's most prestigious regiments, has just 339 soldiers available to deploy - despite having a quota of 603 troops.

It means just over half of the regiment's soldiers are currently ready to fight.

Currently, the only infantry regiment with enough manpower to deploy on missions is 1 Royal Gurkha Rifles, which is described as being 103 per cent fully deployable.

Tobias Ellwood, a former defence minister who chairs the Commons defence committee, said: Our infantry is getting smaller.

This cannot be achieved if soldier numbers are cut and if we cut any more infantry battalions."

Mr Ellwood, who served with the Royal Green Jackets, said cuts to the Army threatens the UK's standing on the world stage.

Losing so many personnel would effectively remove ourselves from significant participation in major Nato operations, he said.

And Colonel Richard Kemp told the Mail handing Army recruitment contracts worth more than 1bn to contractors Capita was "disastrous".

The ten-year contract began in 2012. Applications fell by 25,000 in 2017.

Colonel Kemp, who commanded forces in Afghanistan, said: "The Army is already too small to adequately protect Britain in an increasingly dangerous world.

Last night the MoD said: The Army achieved its target for infantry recruits in 2020 and continues to actively recruit today.

We are confident that the Army has the numbers and talent required to protect the United Kingdom.

I kinda agree with one very important caveat: Downpour was not scary. At all. PT at least had a few surprises and 4 was almost psychological torture, both were far more tense and unnerving whereas every enemy in Downpour has this big goofy smile then you have a...

I remember saying about Shattered Memories that chase sequences are scarier if it isn't clear what's chasing you, and Downpour sort of missed my point. It certainly is unclear what the object that chases Murphy through the Otherworld is, but you can clearly see it. It's some wibbly-wobbly black hole with red bits, like something that got lost on its way to the Star Trek visual effects department.
