The dialogue system presentation is poopy, I don't get why they give you 4 options just to say yes or no. My guess was it was to try to give the player personality like Dragon Age 2 did with Hawke.

But I don't see how that's different to New Vegas or 3.

Take Boulder City Showdown for example. They ask you to help them free a hostage. You say yes or no, then if you say yes you either kill or pass a speech check.

What's the difference between that and Fallout 4? Besides having 3 slightly different ways to say "yes" and instead of 1?

Personally I'm more of a fan of the Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Dragon Age Origins text dump dialogue style where you can ask tons of questions. But Fallout never really did that. Not even Fallout 1 and 2.

The stories are about factions coming into conflict due to different idealogiies and limited resources. The only way not to support a faction is to not play the game. This is true of every fallout game and almost every RPG ever made.

I'm not gonna criticize Fallout 4 for having factions.

Infact if you want to go down that road, the fact there is no option for The Courier to not join a faction, not get involved in the stupid conflict and just leave is one the many pigeonhole examples I was talking about.

Fallout 1- Save the vault
Fallout 2- Save the tribe
Fallout Tactics- Save yourself
Fallout 3- Save your dad
Fallout 4- Save your son

All can be criticized but all of them explain why the protaganist gets involved and they are all understable. There is no reason in any of the above games for the protaganist to just run off.

Fallout New Vegas: A guy 1,000 times more powerful than you tries to kill you, you barely survive and the land is going to shit due to a war you having to do with. In Honest Hearts you literally travel to a new area that's nicer to live in than the Mojave...

Why is the plot about going to get revenge on Benny? That makes literally no sense. You HAVE to roleplay as a vindictive idiot and to make it worse they establish the Courier's backstory as having lived in the Mojave for decades as a courier. Yet he has no home, no friends, doesn't know what any thing or anyone is and has no impact on anything.

So you HAVE to play as a completely irrational, vindictive, weird, unrelatable guy who used to be exetemely boring and sheltered unintelligent loner loser. Who for no reason at all goes on a suicide mission against a guy he doesn't know after a lottery win survival in a unprovoked attack and then gets involved in a war he has nothing to do with in a land he has no reason to care about because....... ... er... ... Ermm.... umm... LOOK! It's Fisto the robot! It's a robot that fists people! and look! There's a gang of people who act like Elvis for no reason! You don't want things that make sense and a breathing world, just look at these bad gags!

From a roleplay perspective, it's not something you can get immersed in. It reeks of the same thing that made the franchise nearly die out at Fallout 2.

Look me in the eye and tell me if Fisto was in Fallout 4 instead of New Vegas or "No one's dick is that long, not even long dick johnson and he has a really long dick!" the internet would not have gone crazy complaining about how much Betheda ruined Fallout with it's awful writing. Of the main 5 games and Tactics (not counting 76, Shelter, BOS or any mobile games) I think NV and 2 has the weakest writing in the series for different reasons.

I'd take 1, 3, Tactics and 4 over them anyday.

A teenager arrested after stabbing a teacher at a junior high school in Toda, Saitama Prefecture, told police he desired to see "what would happen when someone is killed," investigative sources said Thursday.

The 17-year-old also said he chose to enter the Misasa Junior High School around noon as classes would be in session at that time, according to the sources. He had at least three knives in his possession during the incident.

The teenager, a high school student from the neighboring city of Saitama, did not know the teacher he had attacked. His name is being withheld because he is a minor.

According to Saitama Prefectural Police, the alleged assailant attempted to enter a classroom on the third floor of Misasa Junior High School through its back door at around 12:20 p.m. on Wednesday while first-year students were taking an end-of-semester test.

A 60-year-old teacher acting as the exam proctor got into a scuffle with the student and suffered multiple injuries to his arms and lower torso, including a deep stab wound in his abdomen.

The 28 students in the classroom at the time safely evacuated. The suspect was restrained by teachers who rushed to the scene, and he was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Police later found at least one knife, which they believe to be the suspect's, from a school corridor, as well as a smartphone and a knife from his home.

According to investigative sources, the teenager went to the school by bicycle. The school's main entrance was not locked, and security camera footage showed a person who appeared to be the teen entering the compound.

"I was interested in killing anyone," the suspect was quoted as saying. "I also wanted to see what would happen when someone is killed."

The police are also looking into the teenager's possible involvement in a recent spate of dead, mutilated cats found in the city of Saitama after he implied he was behind the incidents, the sources said.

The cases came to light in mid-February when cat parts were found on a park bench and hanging from a climbing frame at an elementary school.

The body of a beheaded cat was also discovered partly buried in a field in the city of Saitama on Sunday. What appeared to be the upper part of one was also found later that day on a road about 300 meters from the field.

Speaking at a regular press conference on Thursday, Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno said while the government has implemented seminars and other initiatives to prepare school staff for such events, it will examine what happened at the school in Toda and take necessary safety measures.

Schools in Japan have improved safety measures since a 2001 incident in which a knife-wielding man entered an elementary school in Ikeda, Osaka Prefecture, and killed eight students, wounding 15 others.

But while most schools have crisis management manuals in place, challenges remain around the introduction of costly measures, such as installing security cameras and hiring security guards.

That's the difference between Fallout 4 and New Vegas. Fallout 4 is for FPS Shooter fans and New Vegas is for RPG fans.

So if you want a free roam action shooter with RPG elements, Fallout 4 is your game.

If you want a story driven RPG with action shooter elements, New Vegas is your game.

The main reason people give new Vegas slack is because it wasn't made by Bethesda. It's one of the weakest entries in the series from a role play perspective. The role the Courier is forced into is the pigeonholed in the entire franchise.

Since the guy was speeding, the cop does have probable cause to demand ID. That's not a violation of the 4th amendment. Also the cop does not have to tell you why he pulled you over. This is sneaky but it's a tool to gain information. If you're speeding and the cop pulls you over and you say "YEah sorry my tail-light is out" or "I've only had one beer!" you've just given him rope to hang youtself with.

Sure it's shady as fuck that a snippet of the footage is missing but it's not body cam footage, it's not dash cam footage, it was a guy on a ride along recording for entertainment purposes and the part that's cut out had nothing to do with the probable cause, cop interaction with the citizen or the citation that was given. It's not evidence IN THIS CASE about this traffic stop.

Even if the cop randomly screamed out "Boy sure how do I love cocaine, I'm gonna go do some more cocaine this weekend. Yummy yummy cocaine in my tummy! Mmmm Cocaine!" for no reason, yeah that shouldn't be deleted and the cop should be investigated but that wouldn't change this interaction and this specific charge in this specific case.

It's a mixed bag.

There's an alien one which is a fun concept but falls down a bit since it's nearly the entire DLC is just dull gray corridors

Nuka-World is inventive wtith its ideas/areas and also allows players to be evil. One of the big fan complaints about Fallout 4 is that it's hard to be a bad guy. All the main quests are good by default, all but 1.5 of the companions are good people and people who reveled in siding with the Leigon, selling slaves to Paradise Falls, blowing up Megaton, being slavers in FO2 etc, all were pissed

And i really can't fault Bethesda for listening to feedback and trying to give people something they like.

I play as a good guy so it means nothing to me but getting to be a raider and fucking over the Minute Men was something a solid core of the fanbase wanted.

An issue I have with it, which is a problem with Bethesda Fallout's raiders in general, is that they're all generic drug fueled psychopaths who have human remains everywhere.

Actually this is a pet peeve of mine. That EVERY raider camp had mannequin dioramas and heads on sticks and impaled corpses.

That stuff is fine but when literally every raider group in the commonwealth including the Gunners who are meant to be organized and sane mercs, all seem to spend all their free time making these elaborate art projects in every encampment, it just gets silly. It's not even scary or intimidating because every fucker does it and in canon seems to have to put tons of effort and time into doing so.

I know Bethesda are worried that Joe Casual will miss it but it would be more effective if only one raider group did that.

Ironically The Triggermen don't and they stick out simply because they don't do it... And they only appear in 2 locations for pre-set quests

An electric bike could be powered by a battery that hugs a section of the central chassis, or a smartphones battery could run all the way around the frame of a circuit board. These unorthodox shapes are just one of the many advantages that Sakuu believe they can offer.
Many people have built cells in the lab, but they have not been able to scale, Sakuu CEO and founder Robert Bagheri told Fast Company. Our vision started with that scalability in mind.

The array, known as a Kavian, is much smaller than the traditional, roll to roll battery manufacturing methods, and because the powder loaded into the 3D printers can be extremely precise, theres a 40% reduction in materials usagea huge cost savings over competitors.

The batteries they print can be charged to 80% in just 15 minutes.

Because they can be printed in any shape, all kinds of clever innovations are possible, in all kinds of industries from e-mobility products to wearables and small devices. The company is even working with an aviation company that wants solid-state batteries for their aircraft with holes through the middle of it to help with heat management.

Sakuu plans to sell micro-factories composed of all their technologies in sections of 400 square feet, which can be used to make 100 megawatt hours of batteries in a year. Older equipment takes up 16,000 square feet and can only produce 2.5 megawatt hours per year.

Motorcyclists can soon be safer thanks to a company that produced the worlds first airbag suit.

The garment is made from the strongest denim on the planet. Even more unique are the airbags that activate via small CO2 cartridges whenever the rider falls from their bike.
The trigger mechanism is a tether connecting the jeans to the motorcycle. When the equivalent of a road accident occurs, the tether creates a puncture in the cartridges that inflates the airbags.

If the rider is thrown from the bike, a protective air cushion is instantly deployed. Afterward, the CO2 cartridges are replaceable.

While the airbag handles the impact forces, the single-layer denim fabric called Armalith handles the abrasion forces, according to officials from the Swedish company Airbag Inside.
