Someone with that option and attitude isn't going to reproduce, so I'd assume the answers were a bit telling here. Then again they might just get government assistance and section 8, but why even have babby at that point. It's almost cruel.

You want a wife and family? Deal with the job. Anything gets easier the more you do it.

Does the minimum wage job have a career path for a better eventual wage?

My dream job is something like, Being a YT gamer (Like Pewdiepie) or being a Video Game reviewer or something along those lines, soooo... If I had that job I'd be ok with it even without getting 100K a year. I already don't make 100K a year & I'm relatively happy, if I'm given the the choice to have my dream job why would I turn that down for doing something I hate? What good is money if I'm stuck in a coal mine all day or something? (A job I would hate: Coal miner)

A job I love where I likely cannot afford a halfway decent life? I'd be so miserable and stressed outside of work from having to scrape by, never being able to afford much, maybe not even healthcare...

Whereas a job I hate making that kind of money, I can afford a decent house, car, vacations, leisure, etc. My life outside of work would be happy, and that would make up for being miserable at work.

Not saying the money would solve all of my problems, but it would be much better than the alternative.

How so? Because of taxes?

I've always understood being "off the grid" as not being connected to public utilities (water, electricity, cable, internet, etc). You can certainly live that way, but if you own a piece of property you'd still have to pay taxes on it. But I don't consider paying tax as being on the grid, maybe you have a different take.

To truly be off the grid in that sense, you'd have to be homeless. But if that's what you're getting at then I agree. Laws being passed are making it increasingly difficult to be "legally" homeless in the States.

TC said a job you hate. I would assume that means you don't get to pick a job you hate for one hour a day while you browse Facebook and what not the rest of the time.

Also, there's plenty of high-salary jobs that aren't white collar office jobs. Police officers, oil rig workers, some construction, etc. These are certainly jobs where you can't fuck off for 80% of your day.

What if you were a prominent proctologist staring at fucked up, diseased assholes all day long?

Kinda missing my point. What I'm saying is, if you're setting the parameters of the job to something that's agreeable to you, that's not really a job you hate.

Maybe TC can clarify, but I would assume that what you're suggesting wouldn't qualify as a job you hate. I think TC is asking if would you take a job that you hate from the moment you arrive until the moment you leave. How much can you hate a job if you're allowed to goof off most of the day?

The job I hate, because a) minimum wage wouldn't be enough for me to live--thus leading to a life I would hate--and b) I'd make enough money to contribute to an earlier retirement.

most of the managers at my job work 10 hours a day 5 days a week for what I consider to be very little pay
it's more then min wage but it certainly isn't anything to brag about
i'd rather make 200$ less then work an extra eight hours a week
and it's not like there's a lot of money in it, you still have to pay to keep the place open, and the truck drivers and for the food
it's not a lucrative business model unless you own the franchise and even that takes several years of success before you're filthy rich

Was the job what was making you suicidal though? Or were there other factors?

I only ask because I imagine living in near-poverty would probably be pretty depressing, and your job might become the one bright spot in your day, as opposed to the other way around.

Being happy is a right every working man should have
working 40 hours a week should get you the bare neccesaties

not being allowed to work part time because you can't afford anything is like justifying slavery, working 40 hours a week and not having a way out is justifying slavery

but that money can buy

the housing bubble was caused when investors took money that people owed to them
the money didn't even exist they gave themselves 2.5billion dollar bonus'
and price of housing doubled over a couple years
my rents bought a house for 100k
in the 80's 200k then they started stealing money now 400k for a house
why should min wage go up ever, if you work 40 hours you're entitled to live, breathe, eat and have shelter, shelter is a bare necessity not a luxury

You'll hate something about the job you love, like only making minimum wage

It's one of the worst realizations ever... normal folk who don't strike gold on some lottery winnings are gonna dislike something about their job unless they deal with a shit ton of bull shit/crappy jobs to get what they find is their "ideal job" (basically a job where you feel happy most of the time and the bs is so minimal in comparison you don't take it into consideration as much)

About

R.I.P in Peace” is an online slang expression marked by its redundant phrasing which can be used to commemorate an individual who has either passed away or some who has been a target of an Internet death hoax. The phrase is often cited as an example of the “redundant acronym syndrome syndrome (RAS syndrome).

Origin
The earliest known use of the phrase “RIP in peace” was posted in a thread titled “RIP in Peace Shane Cross” by Newgrounds Forums[3] member Glue-Sniffer on May 12th, 2007, which lamented the death of professional skateboarder Shane Cross.
