I really can't think of any that don't hold up to me.
The closest that's "embarrassing" I guess is Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing minigames I guess.
One embarrassing I like NOW is a recent Bubsy game that's just a sidescroling runner.
Surprisingly good.

Anyone who dies comes back, and can hang at the safe (for now) top layer.
Time seems to loop and it's not possible to escape (until a later game)

My confusion over this stems from the phrasing from Mario 64, "Trapped inside the walls of the castle." Does that establish that the paintings lead to worlds that only exist in the walls of the castle because of the Power Stars, or do the paintings actually function as portals to other parts of the world?
Well, that was Toad saying his friends are trapped. I don't think he was referring to the paintings, as Toads aren't found in a single world, just castle.
Either he meant the Toads couldn't leave due to magic, or they were literally trapped as bricks in the wall like Bowser did in Mario 1. I'd go with the first one.

The paintings were supposedly worlds given form by the Power Stars, yet Whomps Fortress is in a Galaxy game.
With Odyssey showing paintings can teleport, it's possible all those locations just exist.
Though Peach's slide is in a void with 2 power stars, so maybe some are original worlds.

Also shows only 2 stars are needed for an extra dimensional space.
Power Stars are equivalent to moons in Odyssey, and you collect like 999 of them.

He wasn't a danger to the public, so he constituted no threat to public safety. He wasn't going to go around tasing people.
Attacking officers and stealing a taser is monumentally stupid, but does not warrant killing.
He would have to run, and could be pursued, and eventually successfully tased.

He would then face additional charges for assaulting an officer and presumably theft.
Instead they decided to shoot a fleeing man in the back.
The choice of cowards without honor.
